My son and his GF took me and DH here. They are experienced with escape rooms and said this one had a new, really challenging room called the Sixth Wave. You have 60 min to "escape" by finding clues and figuring out how they work to open things that have more clues. We all had a great time and escaped with 8 min to spare. This was okay but I hope never to be asked to do this ever again. We had a kid with us that wanted to do this, which essentially left us with only three functional players for this level, and one really bored kid trapped in a room. Everything was eerily dusty and kinda broken even...parts missing, shoddy parts ect. There was a really nice kid who sat up front. One look at the blinds in the main lobby and I already knew I was in for a massive allergy attack. I didn't know that my guys allergies would be worse than mine because he never had allergies. I also don't understand why this activity is so expensive with such worn parts and no cleaning being done to the space. Pretty disgusted, but maybe this is just what this nasty game is? We purchased a Groupon for a fun family outing. When the Groupon code didn't work, I contacted the location and was informed that the fine print states it's only applicable for a single beginner scenario. I explained that our family was fairly skilled at escape rooms, but was assured the scenario was challenging, boasting a 50% success rate. The young lady working there, Jordan, was very friendly, but the rest of the experience was generally terrible. The storyline was weak and unimaginative, it was contained in a single room, and the clues were obvious, linear, and heavy-handed. They had the opportunity to apply the Groupon to a more challenging escape room, but instead chose to waste our time and money. Perhaps the other scenarios are fun and engaging, but I guess we'll never find out. I would not recommend. read more

Top quality room and staff! We took my Mom to Escape Thrill for her birthday, and chose the Wild West Room. Husband and I have done a handful of escape rooms, but are by no means experts, and Mom had not done any. Entering, we were warmly greeted by Kevin, who thoroughly explained the process. I loved that there were riddles and puzzles all around, to get your brain working before you even entered the room. The Wild West room is not a big room, but it is HIGHLY themed, and gorgeously done. It was the perfect room for us. I wonder if six people in there would be a bit crammed, but for us three, it was great. There were a variety of puzzles, requiring different kinds of solving (don't want to give too much away here). I especially enjoyed the technology in the room. We made use of the ipad on the wall to log all of our answers, and to get a few hints. We had a terrific time and did manage to escape with time to spare! I highly recommend Escape Thrill if you want to do an escape room. The quality of the game is excellent, and the staff is fantastic! read more

We've done 3 escape rooms, with 3 different companies. Escape Thrill's Diamond Heist room, was our first escape! We were hesitant to do a room with a group of strangers, but it worked out perfectly. If we had a different group, I doubt we would've finished the room. The room was full of locks, but to their credit, it's several different kinds of locks (one I had never seen!). The clues hidden throughout the game were very inventive. (I wish I could go into detail, but thats a no no) The clues themselves were creative in their presentation as well as usage in the game. It was nice to have a gaming experience that wasn't heavy on math clues. Just the right amount, mixed in with word, visual as well as a couple physical clues. Our game master was Kevin, and he was super high energy. He was extremely detailed in explaining everything to us, as well as taking questions. We had no interaction with him in the game, because they have the room set up where you can help yourself to clues. I though this aspect of the game, was well thought out. I took my daughter and her friend (both 7 year olds.). We did the diamond heist room. First off, it was very clean and well organized. I appreciated how upfront the room was. No gimmicks or tricks(red herrings or recycled clues) . While not the hardest room--it did provide some nice challenges. It was just as hard if a room as it was advertised to be. Which is always a great thing. The staff at Escape Thrill was top notch. Our game leader was very attentive and helpful. The clues that he gave us never totally gave the answer away which I really appreciated. At the end we got our just in time! We tried to reschedule because our two kids were exhibiting flu-like symptoms. We didn't ask for our money back or anything, just another date in 2 weeks so that we didn't put anyone at risk. Initially, the employee said "no problem," but she called back a few minutes later and told me that the owner said we could NOT reschedule and recommended that we "find someone else" to take our kids' place in our group. A group of us came in as part of a bachelorette party. We were unfortunately a little late to arrive because it was a bit difficult to find the place! Luckily, they still let us into our game. I've done escape rooms before, so I know how smoothly (or not) things can go. This place utilizes an iPad for clues if you need it. I wasn't a fan. I felt like it took up too much time to "unlock" the clues when you had to enter the codes you found to unlock a clue, especially when you run into some incorrectly functioning locks. We were able to unlock one of the suitcases/briefcases, so I ran to enter the code into the iPad, but the iPad said that was the incorrect code. Come to find out we entered the wrong number into the lock, even though the briefcase still opened. Wasted time on things that are not our fault. It's hard to rely on technology when time is of the essence. When asking for help, someone will answer via intercom and ask what's wrong. It was not the same person who answered every time, and since they aren't watching each room (like other escape rooms), we had to explain each time. Then we had to wait for someone to enter our room. Again, wasting time for things that aren't our fault. I feel that things like this should be extremely stream lined to assist the team playing since these games are all based on time. All that being said, we still escaped diamond heist with time to spare. There were also lots of cool technology/tricks that I hadn't seen before, like laser lights and special effects. (I don't want to give away the room.) So props to them on the creativity. I just think the execution needs some work. read more

Tried this place as the Escape room next to my friends apartment were full. We had booked two rooms one for the Wild West and the other one is Diamond Heist. The guys are so nice very accommodating and had explained the concepts of the room. We were waiting for one more friend and our schedule had passed but they let us wait for him. Which is a very good gesture as a paying costumer. the room where not that huge but it was clean and organized. The challenges really let you think and solve the puzzles to attain the goal. Our group did the Diamond Heist and we had so much fun. All puzzles allows you to think and and work as a team to solve it. Theres also a tablet where you can store answer to the clue that will lead you to solve the main puzzle to unlock the door. The group had so much fun especially when we were able to open the door with 12 minutes remaining. The price is not that bad at all. read more

We purchased vouchers on groupon and made reservations for the Wild West for a party of 4 ! We did not make it out in time but it was such a good time we can not wait to do more ! The only down fall for us was that one of our clue boxes were unlocked and we wasted 5 minutes paging someone up front to come back in and lock the box for us , so i do suggest before they start your time have someone double check all the boxes are locked ! I've done plenty of escape rooms before and even when I travel, but this one wasn't good. The person explaining it only made it confusing as hell. We had no starting point. They usually tell a detailed story, she did not. Even after it all she didn't tell us how to escape or what else we needed to do. Almost like she was pushing us to get out. The room was way too small for 4 people. It just wasn't a good experience. I recommend going to a different escape room for the ultimate experience. read more

This was my 2nd attempt at a room escape. I really enjoy them so when I saw this one on Groupon, I checked the reviews via Yelp before purchase. Great reviews and great pricing, I jumped on it and made the purchase for skinned alive. Well, once I arrived with my friends, we were told that somehow the booking allowed me to book the room when it was full. I was a little bummed. The workers apologized and offered to immediately put together another room. We accepted and went with the Wild Wild West. Let me just tell you, you must use your noodle! Everything was strategically placed. You are allowed to get clues, but you loose points. Needless to say we didn't make it out on time. And reading from other reviews on the Wild Wild West, I'm pretty embarrassed!! I will definitely return to try Skinned Alive. Me and my husband are visiting Clearwater for a few days this week and since we are big fan of "escape the room", we always try to find one wherever we go! We both are so glad that we did the game with Eacape Thrill. It seems that they just opened a month also... I am super impressed by the quality of their puzzles! The theme we did is Wild West. It was the only one we found to be matching our time schedule yesterday. At first we were concerned whether it would not be worth of our time and money (we are kind of picky with Eacape the Room in general)... On top of that, we only have 4 people in the team (us plus another couple). However, it just blew my mind while I was playing the game. The story and puzzles are very well-designed...unlike some other escape rooms I went...you actually can use one clue to find the next clue by using logical thinking instead of randomly guessing! LOVE IT!!! Although we paired up with strangers, we made an amazing team! We eventually successfully escaped!! Wooot... I am writing an honest review here just wish Eacape Thrill best of luck in their business...and wish more people can go and check them out to experience such amazing puzzle solving game! If one day I revisit Clearwater, I will go back and play another game with them!! read more

Wow! We went back and did the Wild West room and I have to say it was an escape room experience unlike any other I have done. Usually my boyfriend and I like to do escape rooms on our own to see what we're capable of. This time we had three friends with us (who had actually never done an escape room before), and I'm not sure if we would have made it out without them! This room was a challenge, but a fun one. They have a high tech set up for clues which is actually really cool. The owner said they don't like to intrude with clues if you don't need them (which I love!) so you have to "buy" them with points. There's a little more to it than that, but they'll explain. We only had to use one clue. I was really impressed with the intricacies of this room. Everything has a purpose in the room, which is so cool and really gets you looking at everything in a new light. There were times where I said "if that works it would be insane" - and it did! Really, really cool clues. And there's a diverse mix of clues and puzzles, so everyone can contribute regardless of where their talents lie. In my previous review I had noted that the toy room didn't require a lot of teamwork. This room requires a lot of teamwork and I loved it! I have been to nine or 10 escape rooms in the Tampa Bay Area and this is probably the most innovative. Our whole group walked out and made a vow that we will return to do the Diamond Heist room, and I am very excited for the other two rooms that they will be opening in the future. If you do just one escape room, this is the one! But be warned, it will have you hooked. read more

My son and I enjoy doing the escape rooms together. Last month we did the Wild West room. We were paired up with another family of 3 and together we escaped. Unfortunately, one of the locks was already opened and we missed out on one of the clues. The owner, Amber, was quick to call us and apologize afterwards and offered us an incentive to come back another time. Today we went back and escaped the Skinned Alive room with only minutes to spare. This was the first time escaping a room, just the two of us. It seems like every month a new escape room opens in Tampa Bay, but it's not every day that one of such high quality comes around. I've been to nearly a dozen escape rooms around the bay, and Escape Thrill has managed to combine fun puzzles with quality theming in a package that will leave you wondering how they managed to come up with and implement the solutions to some of their innovative challenges. I've escaped both the Toy Room and the Wild West room at Escape Thrill, and both were very well done and highly polished - especially considering they have only been open a couple of weeks. For groups larger than 3, I would not recommend the Toy Room, as it is a bit small. The Wild West was nicely sized for our group of 5 though. I'm looking forward to tackling the Diamond Heist room, and after that the two other rooms that are coming soon! read more
