My first time doing this and I loved it!!!! I was skeptical about the location but it was really nice to find that downtown Miami is not such a scary place anymore. Enter an elegant old timey salon where you can take hundreds of very cool pictures. Then be led to your "escape" room and start hunting for clues. So much fun! As soon as we walked into Escape Hunt, we knew we were in for a treat. Classic European hospitality meets escape adventure! Noel and Stephan, both from France, warmly welcomed us into the cozy lobby with offers of biscuits, tea, and water. They even let us store our luggage in a corner as we were actually on our way to board a cruise ship! It was a sleepy Saturday morning, so both Noel and Stephan sat with us and chatted for a bit before we dove into the first room. The lobby is gorgeous and more like an old-world parlor, several rooms of plush sofas and armchairs, richly colored walls, and hardwood floors. We felt like we were in Sherlock Holmes' library. Spectacularly, this company has solved a continual pet peeve of ours: an online booking system that easily allowed us to nab two rooms for just the two of us without buying the entire room (see our review of Puzzah! for our first encounter with this gift from the heavens). They also have something that's new to us: duplicates of all their rooms! This allows for more frequent and flexible bookings-always a plus. One little downside to the online booking is that we didn't see a way to provide a return discount when doing multiple rooms, which many companies do offer (though we neglected to ask!). Both of their rooms nod to Miami's culture and history (and they have a third one on the way). We escaped from both! Blackbeard's Treasure Based on the legend of Blackbeard the pirate, you are scurrying around an old, abandoned ship searching for...treasure! We loved the atmosphere in this room-we felt like we were trapped on the infamous Queen Anne. Production design was good and the room had some extremely clever ways for activating circuits and opening doors and boxes that had both of us oohing and aahing. Currently clues are asked for through a walkie-talkie, though they are working to upgrade the clue system in that room (which is good because they walkie-talkie did seem to keep picking up someone else's transmission!). But. We didn't always feel like we knew what we were supposed to be doing. The flow of the puzzles was a bit scattered and the storyline unclear. It's wasn't always clear to us what we were solving or why were solving it that way. Or even how we actually got out of the room. The game seemed to just stop. When talking to Noel and Stephan afterward, they explained the actual escape scenario. We looked at each other and realized...we hadn't actually done that! They are also very open to feedback-possibly more so than any other company we've been to. They sat us down with more tea and biscuits (of course) and had a conversation with us about what we liked, what could be improved, and our general sense of the room. So we feel very confident that this place will continue to improve based on their openness. Missing from the Speakeasy The headline dancer from an illegal speakeasy has vanished, and it's up to you to find her! We really enjoyed this room. The quest to find a person lent itself to some creative twists and turns with an engaging story line. Unlike Blackbeard, this room was very linear and we always had a very clear sense of what we should do next and why we were doing. Great production design, clear and fun puzzles, and we're of course always suckers for a good speakeasy. The one thing against the room is that it may be almost too easy for experienced escape room players. We blew through it in about 30 minutes, but they told us that most people don't. Don't discount it though if you're an old hand at this. We still had fun, and we think it would be a great room for a group starting out on escape puzzles. So, why five stars even though we had a bunch of problems with one of their rooms? Because we see a lot of possibility here. Noel and Stephan are pouring a lot into making Escape Hunt the best it can be by bringing some French flair to an American escape room. They are eager for feedback and we feel it's so important to acknowledge that. We can't wait to come back and try out their third and newest room. This was escape room 15 for me... and by far the worst I've ever been to. Walked in and after 10 minutes of no one came to check us in. I had to go to the back where all the employees were playing around... 20 minutes in, we were having issues with a puzzle not working (one of many frustrating things in the room just not working). Wave our hands... no response... for 15 minutes. We were practically screaming for help at this point. It never got any better. We literally had no one attending to our room at all all game. We were constantly waves and asking for help with no response. It was just me and my friend playing this game. There was a TON of useless, pointless red Herrings and puzzles that have nothing to do with getting out. I finally was pissed enough of the last broken puzzle not working and getting no help that I left the room... low and behold they are all goofing off in the back... The owner/mangers owes me an apology and should refund me for this terrible waste of evening. read more

Entrance is a little tricky to find and has a sketchy feel but once the elevator doors open to the actual location it's a whole different ballpark. The decor & vibe is exactly what you'd want from an escape room venue. 6 of us did the Miami Nightmare room and it was excellent. Hard but not so difficult that you get discouraged. We were in the process of unlocking the last box when our time was up. Host was great & super friendly. We're definitely going back for another room! read more

If you haven't done an escape room I highly recommend it. I have done 2 previous ones at other locations but Escape hunt was definitely one of the better and more challenging ones. The inside is very nice compared to most of other places that offer escape rooms. The location was very hidden which made it feel more genuine. Also the service was excellent! We were treated so well from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. I won't give details about the the actual escape challenge to not spoil any secrets but it is 100% worth the money. You will not be disappointed. I definitely plan to return to do another escape room at escape hunt. read more

Love the production quality of the rooms, the unique puzzles, the amazing customer service. Just did Wynwood Experiment and loved it! You can really see and experience true craftsmanship with this room! Visited on 2/17/2020 This was my first experience at an escape room. The short light haired woman taking reservations and working front desk was super nice. So sorry I didn't get her name but seemed to speak with French accent. A taller dark haired male staff person was very nice as well. Feel very bad I didn't get their names, but was totally trying to understand what I was supposed to be doing. The experience was really good for the Miami Nightmare. We got student and educators discount. Service and experience was top notch. I hope this business continues to do well. I definitely recommend this business for a first time experience. This was the worst escape room I've ever been to. They didn't reset the room properly so it was basically impossible to tell what clues went to what or even mattered. Locks were left undone, and magnets were already tripped. We asked for clues multiple times throughout and were ignored. We were 5 minutes over our time so we decided to just push the exit button. Turns out the kid was just playing on his phone with headphones in the whole time. Do not waste your money or time here. read more

Awesome place. I came here with my sister the other day. First things first we found parking right in front of the place, which was awesome. When we went up we were greeted right away, the girl was nice and answered all my questions. The guy was getting our booked room ready which also didn't take him long at all. By the time I filled up the waver he was already ready to pick us up and take us to the room. The place is decorated super cute so you automatically get a feeling of being in a different time. Before we got into the room, the guy explained the rules and everything we needed to know including the story line. Also answered all our questions without hesitation, which I appreciate. Since we did this for the first time I did ask a bunch. I found the set up very safe by the way. They communicate with you at all times, there is an exit button in case you get any type of anxiety issue or want to get out of the room for whatever reason. The whole experience was pretty fun for us. We chose the horror room. It was about a serial killer. The props were not universal studios but it was still fun and gave you the feeling of going into a different world. The room itself had some fun extras which I won't say now. We don't do spoilers. But I have to say it was super fun for ya and I want to actually go back and try the other rooms. Have nothing to complain about this place or the experience whatsoever. Good job guys. Worst escape room I've ever been to. Seriously, DO NOT COME HERE! STAY AWAY! I was not happy at all with my experience. The clues were not properly set and the screen for the clues did not work. There were clues that were missing because they didn't set up the room properly. We were basically clueless for more then half of the time. Finally when someone came in to check the room they tried to fix it. We had to be given some tips which gave it away because of having a defective room. The monitor wasn't working at all. I couldn't see the time or any clues. I rang the bell multiple times for help, but they didn't help me. All I could hear were the employees chatting away and not paying attention to the screen. I didn't know how much time we had because again the monitor wasn't working. The entrance to this location is filthy and disgusting. The elevator doesn't even work. The staircase looks disgusting as you walk up to the second floor. I asked for a refund, but they refused. Not happy at all! Trust me there are so many other escapes rooms to go to! We booked this room for a fun night out. there is only expensive parking in the area, it's difficult to find and get upstairs. very sketchy elevator and location. you get little to no guidance when you enter the room. the worst part however was that they forgot to put a necessary clue in our room. So we spent an hour in a room we had no chance of finishing because they didn't give us the clue. Lastly, we did not get our money back or a refund. Do not book this escape room, I promise you there are better rooms in the miami area. read more

We had a fantastic time! Went with my mom, my two nieces (5 and 10) and myself. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. It was entertaining for everyone -- both the 5 year old and the 10 year old were engaged and entertained. I was thrilled trying to figure out how to escape. The attention to detail in the rooms is incredible. The mystery was a lot of fun, and the theme (Pirate Ship!) was executed perfectly! I had a blast, and want to go back with my friends. The staff was also incredibly kind, and helped make sure my five-year-old niece (who was under the age listed on the website) had as good a time as the rest of us. As it turns out, she figured out more clues than I did! I can't wait to back and try the rest of the rooms! My 10-year-old niece has decided to throw her birthday party here. 10/10 recommend. read more

The place is really nicely designed in classic European vintage style. Walking through the door, you get a Sherlock Holmes vibe. This is the first escape challenge I go to that has a reception area fully designed to match the game. However, the game rooms are small and too cheesy in design. We finished the game with almost 20 minutes to go. I've done another 3 escape challenges and have never finished with more than 3 minutes on the clock. The whole time, the TV feeds you the clues, which defeats the purpose of the game if you want to be challenged. I have gone to other escape rooms that are much more difficult with complex clues and real-looking designa. While this was fun, I think it is more for families with children. read more

I gave this escape room 2 stars purely because the decorations in the main waiting room were cool. However, I've been to several escape rooms and this was probably one of the worst I've ever been to. We did the Miami Nightmare room and there was no clear direction as to what we were looking for and a lot of the clues didn't connect or have anything to do with other clues. It was very confusing and the employee basically guided us through the entire room to the end. And once we did reach the end, it was not a satisfying win. read more

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! From the moment we went up the elevator and walked in, we were a part of the experience! The puzzles were awesome as they were challenging and thought through! The rooms are decorated and have special effects where you feel fully immersed in the experience! Also love that the guide isn't inside with you, but rather outside watching everything via cameras and there's a TV screen where you can ask the guide for clues, if needed. You have a red button in case you want out. Customer service wise, the guide was SO SWEET! She did a fantastic job greeting and guiding us, answered all of our questions and took as many pictures as we asked for! As far as timing, you truly get the entire 60 minutes as there's a timer on the TV, so make sure you arrive about 20 minutes earlier for the instructions. Can't wait to go back! We did the Miami Nightmare room (awesome) and want to try Wynwood Experiment next! Definitely worth the money!!! read more

We went for my husband's birthday with our kids to have some fun family time. It was a perfect activity - ages between 14 and 51...everyone was happy. Nightmare of Miami was challenging but we solved the mystery and can't wait to go back to play in the other "rooms". The owner explained very well how to play. Super friendly service. The people running Escape Hunt are very nice and explain everything thoroughly. Me and my friends have never done an escape room before so it was really important that they explained how we could get out if any members of our party had an emergency. The whole escape room was really exciting to go through and every time we thought we finally reached the end of it, there'd be more to solve! We only just barely didn't finish the room. The waiting room is beautifully decorated and we got to take pictures with costumes and props after we were done. Really enjoyed Escape Hunt, beautifully done, makes for a great night out. With 10 friends we rented out two of the same rooms so we could compete. I like that they ask you up front if you would like clues and how many. I had read the another review before where they said they keep giving you clues so it becomes easier but this is only when you tell them before hand as far as I know.
