We had a great time doing the MMA smash room. The place was very clean, friendly and my kids had a blast!

I don't want to say I don't recommend, because we really did have a lot of fun. Until the end. I won't give away any spoilers, but basically, we had two puzzles left and solving one would have given the objects needed to get the last code to escape the room and win. The clue in the room was a set of numbers (which was actually one of the first things we tried and it didn't unlock) and the numbers for the lock were a completely different set of numbers and the response we got was "maybe they reset the lock wrong." He had the answer sheet and combination he used was on it, so it wasn't "reset wrong" - it was literally either the wrong lock or the wrong clue. Not solving the room because we couldn't figure out the clues in time is one thing. But having plenty of time left and not being to finish because someone wasn't paying attention to what they were doing is another and my wallet is out $130 because of it. Son had fun time BUT beware of extra fees and paying by card if sending your kids/teens with card vs cash. Website says price is 29.95. Total on receipt was $34.44 (plus my 13 year old added a tip since the receipt has a tip line which is a separate issue and added cost. Why an escape room would be soliciting tips for simply a customer paying admission is beyond me and poor form. He's still learning when it is appropriate to tip and when it's not. This was clearly not one of them but he didn't know that and added one) I asked about the price and I was told "$29.99 plus taxes and fees equates to $34.44". I have always wanted to try an escape room. So, we finally tried it for mine and my son's birthday! Luckily, we left a lot of time to get to the site, because we had a lot of trouble. The road, almost directly in front of the building (a bit north) was completely closed. They didn't mention this when we booked, and google maps apparently doesn't know about it, so we had to go completely around, about a mile. Luckily, there was not a lot of traffic at 8:30 on a Sunday night! So we made it in plenty of time. But not knowing the area, it wasn't that easy for us to find the south of the road. Once we got there, we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was really friendly and helpful, as this was our first time doing an escape room. However, when we walked in, we noticed that there were no times on the completed board for our room. We mentioned that this was our first time, and they said that we would like the one we chose. However, it turns out that there were no leaders on the leaderboard because the clues are quite misleading. I suppose that is how they make it "tricky," but you would think you want it to be possible to solve? I'm pretty confused by this. If you need a clue, you cannot get on the leaderboard. I wouldn't go back, but we did have fun, and the staff member assigned to us was very nice. To be fair, I am unlikely to do any escape room again, not just at Escape 605. It is extremely expensive, about $30 per person for an hour long event, and at Escape 605 you can buy a "golden hint" for $5 which we didn't even look into. read more

Cons: 1) We went to the wrong venue at first so I called and let them know we would be a bit late. The person said "okay! I will let them know!". Once we got there they said the people already started and we should have called first. But we did....the employees just didnt communicate with each other. It worked out though and we were able to reschedule for an hour later. 2) Parts of the game didnt work. At the end we ended up counting THREE parts of the game that were dysfunctional (the employees couldnt even make it work without resetting part of it and turning something "on") so that put a serious damper on it. We had guests from out-of-town who always wanted to do one so it was a huge let-down for them. Pros: 1) It was fun and clever! Ive been to a couple within SD and in other states and I thought it was one of the trickiest puzzles I had experienced. I really enjoyed the good parts of it! read more

Such a great experience!! If you're looking for something fun to do, without it taking your entire night, this is it! The perfect date night activity, or to get family together while in town for the holidays. We have made this a yearly tradition at Christmas while our whole family is in town.
