I was looking for a place for my family and I to host a holiday gathering this last Christmas. As I…read moream from out of state, I needed a place that could hold everyone, was in a great location, and had everything I needed already on sight. Check, check, and check! Jasmine was very responsive and I was planning on arriving early on the day of my event to set out tables, chairs, and tablecloths. When I arrived, they were all already set up in an ideal configuration and made my day so easy! They also had a PA system and microphone available for us. The bathrooms were clean and it was easy to get in and out of the front door. When my family arrived, some told me they also used this venue to host work events and that it is a great location for that as well. I highly recommend this for all types of get togethers, both big and small. We did not use every aspect of the facility but they also had a dance floor, a platform for a "head table" and a bar area you can pay extra to have access to. My father appreciated that there was a TV where he could watch his big game throughout the night. I look forward to having my family here for our next get together!

I was considering this facility for a wedding reception and had talked to Melissa, all seemed…read moregreat, the photos online looked great. My wedding planner called me and said there were 3 people in line for my date and so Melissa was sending me a contract to sign and invoice for half the cost, and I needed to sign and pay within 24 hours or I would lose the date. I didn't have time to see the venue in person prior to signing. I paid and signed. The first 2 people I told that I had booked that venue told me that they had been to a wedding there and it was not a well kept or updated venue when they saw it. I then went to an open house and saw the space for myself. I had to use the restroom when I first got there and honestly felt like I was using the restroom at a gas station in Belvedere, SD. (No offense - but if you have been there, you know.). I then went out and looked at the venue. The carpet in the bridal suite was loose and all bunched up by the doorway when you walked in. The whole Facility didn't appear to have been updated in years. I only peaked in the kitchen, but it was very small and appeared dirty, which I found odd for an open house. I decided that the location would not work for us. Based on these reasons and several other things I noted at the open house, including staff interactions with other guests and the general disrepair of the building. I found another venue and called Melissa to cancel and ask if there was any possibility of receiving a partial refund of my down payment (half of the full cost of renting venue) if they were able to rebook. Melissa said no, and immediately seemed to become very defensive and aggressively told me that we had a contact that was legally binding. My tone had been kind, polite and not at all aggressive. I then told her that I didn't want to offend her but I wanted to let her know why I felt the venue wouldn't work for us. (As a business owner myself I always want the feedback to know what people are thinking.). As I calmly outlined what I described above, she started yelling over me. Stating amongst other things that the bathrooms were remodeled in 2017 and no one has EVER told them that the venue was anything other than top notch - the other 1 star reviews here contradict that. I finally hung up on her as she had elevated to screaming in my ear. This for me went from, "This is not a venue I would use for a wedding." To not being willing to recommend it for anyone due to the extremely unprofessional response from Melissa. After posting this review on Google - Melissa started sending her "flying monkeys" to attack me - stirring up as much drama as she can - going as far as making up stories about me and such. She has gone beyond unprofessional to absolutely unhinged.

Such a beautiful venue for a summer wedding…read more First off, it's AIR CONDITIONED! And I mean really well-air conditioned! There are two huge units you can see working at the end of the building. At the summer wedding we attended in 90+ temps with 60+% humidity, it was a lovely, lovely respite. As the day turned to night the outdoors cooled a bit and we spent time on the patio. They had to have sprayed for bugs because I didn't see or feel mosquitoes. I knocked off one star because my sons were both wearing light khaki-colored pants and they sat on an outdoor seating area and there was some sap or other oily substance that left marks on their light pants. It didn't wash off so I have to get creative on getting it removed. Just a gorgeous place and not to hard to get to.

My husband and I had passed by the Old Courthouse Museum many times since moving to Sioux Falls,…read morebut for Mother's Day we decided to do something a little different and finally stop in for a visit. We both love old historical museums, and this turned out to be one of the nicest surprises we've had since making South Dakota our home. The courthouse itself is beautifully restored. The architecture alone is worth the visit. Walking through the building really gives you an appreciation for the craftsmanship of another era. One thing that especially fascinated me were the old architectural drawings on display. It honestly amazed me to think that all of those detailed designs were created entirely by hand without computers or modern drafting programs. The amount of patience and talent required must have been incredible. The museum gives a wonderful glimpse into the early history of Sioux Falls and how different life once was here. Looking through the exhibits, furnishings, photographs, and displays made me reflect on how much simpler life must have seemed back then, even though I know it certainly had its own hardships. As newer residents of Sioux Falls, it also helped us feel more connected to the city we now call home. Sometimes when you move somewhere new, you know the streets and stores first, but not the story underneath them. This museum helped fill in some of those gaps for us. We also wound up spending far too much time in the gift shop and left with quite a few souvenirs. Mostly though, I just enjoyed spending the afternoon strolling through the museum with my honey, learning a little more about the history of the community we've become a part of. It made for a very peaceful and memorable Mother's Day.

It is great to have someplace to take them in bad or hot weather. There are certainly bigger indoor play places we have taken them, but this place is just right for now.
