I received a very competitive bid for the replacement of my roof from this business. The crew was on time, very courteous and left a clean work site daily. I had other construction work going on simultaneously at my house and other contractors told me they were very impressed with the quality of work that Escalante Roofing was completing. This is not the first time I have used this company. Last year when we had the wild winds, I had several shingles blow off my roof. I had a great experience with Escalante Roofing. Being that I am a Realtor for the past 30+ years I do have relationships with roofers. Unfortunately my guys did not provide what Escalante did. My roof job is unique. Due to my solar panel system. Many people will have a deal cut by their solar installer when it comes time for a new roof. As I did. Where they will have a fixed rate to remove and install the panels for the new roof installed. In my case, my solar company is out of business. I needed a roofing company that could not only replace the roof but also have the panel removed and reinstalled. Escalante had a company that they use for this specific task. All the other bids I received they left you in the wind on this. Juan and crew did not. I will admit that this was the main reason I went with them. Now it is a no brainer. Their bid was fair. My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with the company Escalante Roofing in Vallejo. We needed our entire roof replaced and they did a stellar job! The workers were professional, kept the work area clean, arrived and left promptly per their stated work hours and left the property with no sign they had been there working...other than a beautiful new roof! Escalante Roofing company tore off my badly leaking tile roof that was 47 years old. Disposed of the heavy tile. Replaced with asphalt shingle. Did a fabulous job. They clean up the property after each days work. Juan Escalante is an honest businessman. He upgraded the venting system to code. He had a company fabricate a new saddle to seal off the chimney properly. They tore out all of the old spongy plywood. Replaced and painted new fascia boards. Placed metal trim on all the edges. They worked like dogs in the high winds ( we live on a ridge) and heat of the day. His price came in at least 20-25 % lower than three other contractors that wanted the job. He is licensed and will educate you why he is doing it a certain way. His crew... and he is there working with them... know their business. You won't be disappointed with this contractor. I have rebuilt three houses in the last twenty years. Anything and everything you can possibly do. But I won't do foundation work ... nor will I do roofing. It is just too damn hard. Worth every penny That I spent. and you know what ??? I like who Juan is. The business that he built. Good man there. Don't expect your project to be important to them. Had an appointment with Juan at 1pm, which was rescheduled multiple times. Finally, he said he was here, I went outside, he's nowhere to be found. iMessages showed delivered, but he doesn't answer his phone and appears to have just ghosted me. I was hoping to have quotes finished this week so I could move forward with my project next week, but I guess I'll be going with the other company. If you need to cancel, just let me know so I'm not waiting by the phone. Edit: Appreciate the response. But I'm not sure what to think when I don't hear back from you until I post on yelp. I don't make recommendations lightly, but after my recent experience with Juan, I wholeheartedly suggest you give him a call if you're in need of roof repair. I came home from work Wednesday evening to find a pool of water on the floor as a result of a small ceiling leak that had sprung during the day. I gave Juan a call on Thursday and he was able to schedule an appointment for Friday morning. (He was going to stop by the same day, but I had to work.) He and his crew showed up promptly at our appointment time, evaluated the situation, and said they could fix the problem right then and there; they wanted to get it done ASAP before the next rain showers moved in. Both guys were personable, professional, knowledgeable, and worked quickly to patch up the area of the roof that needed immediate attention. Was excited and optimistic about working with Escalante. They came off as hungry and eager to work, and very personal and kind. The bid was in line with others, but I hired them on their good hearts. Boy was I wrong! After signing the contract, they disappeared onto another job without notifying me until they already had done so, delaying my job for one month. Then it grew into two months. I kept checking in with them, to see if they were ready. As we were getting ready to finally finally finally start, I had to clear up some other permit issues with the County. When I called back a week later to get them to start, they blew me off. All I'd wanted to do was to confirm that they were insured with general liability. A must for a CA Contractor. They refused to do the work. They blew me off. Turns out, they Are NOT insured with general liability. How on earth is that possible?!? Very suspect. I feel like a dodged a bullet. Having a contractor NOT have insurance is like, OMG, like Russian Roulette. If they burned my house down, or one of them was hurt on my property, my own insurance would not have paid a claim, and I could have lost everything. General Liability Insurance is serious stuff. How the farting unicorn can they not have it? Wow. So on the whole, I am relieved, but also disappointed I was wrong about their "good hearts" ha ha ha. I am also infuriated that in the middle of the Summer, I have to start at square one. Most other contractors are now booked up for the rest of the year, and my roof won't get done, and my huge 2020 CA state grant for solar panels--the whole reason I was doing the roof--won't get done. So I've lost about thirty K off Escalante's incompetence. Nope. I'm not happy. read more

We had been referred to Escalante Roofing by a neighbor, and not knowing any other resource we contacted Juan Escalante and team. Although their calendar was full, he came over immediately and surveyed the roof. Our roof being almost 30 years old, he highly recommended that we replace it. We were put on a priority schedule and Escalante Roofing provided a temporary solution to stop the leaks. The crew got to our job very soon thereafter and in two days replaced the roof. Just re-roofed our 31 year old house through Escalante Roofing, and they did a great job. I got estimates from a handful of roofers, one was a bit lower and the others were slightly or much, much higher. I even had low ball bids from individuals who turned out to be unlicensed roofers, who I avoided doing business with. I saw Escalante Roofing doing work on my street, so I called the number on their truck. Juan came and gave me an estimate, and after looking at reviews and asking around, I decided to go with him. He's a 2nd generation roofer, his dad was the original owner. He's also hands on, he was up on the roof working and supervising. They're also local, located within a few miles from my home in Vallejo. That's handy in case of problems in the future. But I shouldn't expect any problems. I'm kinda anal about this, and watched them work every couple of from the ridge next to the house. I used Escalante twice and both times have been excellent. I needed a satellite dish removed on the eve of a 2 story house, he showed up quick took it down and even hauled it off for me. It was a small quick job he knocked it out and didn't flake. The next time I called them they did a complete re roof on my mothers house. Repairs were made to the dry rot did a great job knocked the whole job out in 2 days every cut and course of shingles just looks perfect, I didn't find any trash or nails when they left!
