Michael designed my custom anniversary ring, and I loved it so much I kept coming back: a diamond and sapphire eternity band, a custom sapphire and diamond ring, pink diamond eternity bands, and stunning Asscher cut diamond studs. I was having difficulty getting the diamond and ring design I wanted for the price we were willing to pay. After being disappointed by several jewelers who gave us realistic expectations, I shared with my co-worker our troubles. He referred us to Prim Jewelers. After we met with them, we were ecstatic. They were going to give us what I wanted at an affordable price. Now I know why: I've wanted to trade-in my engagement ring for a new diamond and setting. I started researching how much we could get for it and discovered that my diamond is EGL INTERNATIONAL certified. As you may know, the lab has received criticism for diamond over grading and shut down in 2014 to save their reputation. Our "F" color "VS2" clarity diamond is, in reality, an "H" color "SI2/3" at best under GIA standards. We totally overpaid Prim Jewelers for an inferior product. As one reputable jeweler stated, "EGL certificates originating from Israel, Europe, or elsewhere other than New York and Los Angeles are for all intents and purposes fraudulent." I tried to verify the diamond certificate online recently. Maybe it's because they're out of business, but the certificate number could not be found. I will probably get next to nothing for this diamond and need to pay full price for a quality GIA-certified engagement ring. Thankfully my husband and I are in a better place financially to do so. Hard lesson learned. Prim Jewelers should be ashamed of this practice.

We came in with about 16 grams of scrap gold and a almost solid gold geneve women's watch similar or identical to the one in the picture. He gave us 500 and showed real interest in the watch. He said his guy is not there and we need to come back so it can be checked out. This is after he already cut into the bracelet part of the watch and tested it right in front of us. So being the trusting people we were we call him a few hours later and he goes on to tell us it was fake and that all he could do was the 500 and if we wanted the watch back we would have to go to Cota de caza all the way from fullerton. We ended up settling for 900 and made the drive out there in the middle of the night after he refused to give the watch back we later found out was valued at about 2500 .what really pisses me off was how we trusted him to give it to us straight and he did anything but that. He came up off two young naive adults who really needed the cash. Please if you know what's good for you go elsewhere.
