Cassai - Mound: (Never Had A Succulent Cod Like This) Over Eggplant+Potato In A Flavorful Sauce

With a huge inside, Cassai offers enough room at the bar, the front cozy tables, some in the middle of the restaurant and some in the back- without losing its cozy feeling. Gen Zs have been putting it in their TikTok feed like wildfire and I, wanted to see what the action is all about. If you're looking for somewhere to take pics, Cassai is it. Hubs and I, were here for a lite dinner and drinks. Reservations are a dire must. If luck is on your side, you may be able to snag a high chair and enjoy your bites at the bar like we did as walk-ins. The entire style reminds of an enchanted garden with a rustic touch to it. To add to the flair, the ceiling is partially open. It was dinner under the stars for us. The mood is buzzy- yet civilized and polished. This is where you're not going to find the 'woohoo' crowd. Music is soft and airy- think Lana Del Rey-style. My Cava, Kir Royale and hubs' two slushy lemony drinks served in a Moscow Mule cup(¯\_(ツ)_/¯) were very nice. My 'Tapa' sampler (not typical tapa selections) was enough for 2 people and hubs' super moist cod fed us both as well. Service was phenomenal from the young ladies on both nights we visited. We literally had a Class A meal and drinks for under €85 our first night. Our second night though, I returned the Pulpo a la Brasa because it was tough as shoe leather. A quick mention to our server to return for a new one and they rectified it without hesitation or sarcasm. My new octopus, was soft as butter.

So, we made it a point to make a day out of it and head to the beach while in that area of town as well. Colónia de Sant Jordi is one area we didn't get to experience during our first trip to the island 16 years ago- so it was interesting to see what makes this part of town tick or not tick for us. For one, everywhere you look, Colónia de Sant Jordi overflows with resort hotels. Second, the part of town where Cassai Beach House is located, is a lot quieter. In other words, not crowded whatsoever. This beachfront restaurant in Colònia de Sant Jordi is the ultra popular and chic sibling to Cassai (flagship?) near where we're staying in Ses Salines. Since the beach is feet away, the style inside has coastal touches, high-end neutral and breezy accessories, pale woods and white wainscoting. Call me superficial, but I can't help loving a restaurant that gets me reaching for my phone camera when I walk by. Or in. Service was fantastic from our girl Juliana here-she's friendly, attentive and plated our paella. Our seafood-only paella rocked. The flavor, the seasoning, the seafood and the thoroughly-cooked rice was phenomenal. I mean this is rich bitch lunch without sacrificing your wallet. Period at the end.

There is an area of couches to sit on if you are having drinks which looked inviting, too. As we are still getting on European time so we were eating early and not very many people were at the restaurant. However, we had a friendly greeting and were promptly seated. The waiter was very solicitous and helpful with questions regarding the menu. We placed our order and had more than enough food for four (two teenage daughters included) with the cheese plate, bread w/aioli, olives, tuna tatake, salmon w/wakame, papas with sauce and Greek salad. All was delicious and beautifully presented. We also had a couple of mojitos which were good, although my second one was a bit too sweet. Our daughters had a fresh papaya/orange juice and a banana smoothie and both were amazing. The entire experience was really lovely as they were so helpful and happy and the food being terrific. The prices were very reasonable, too. It was a great find and our daughters already said they hope we go back another night on our stay. Just want to say we went back 2 years later and still loved this place. Hopefully we will make it back again as we always had great meals here and the staff was amazing.
