Hard to put into words about the experience with Fred's today!…read more I used to dread appliance breakdowns, but now oddly kind of looking forward to the next one! Start with Helen who's such a delightful person. When we spoke on the phone while scheduling service on a washer machine at the cabin in Lake Summerset she went out of her way to accommodate us. Then Fred, the quintessential professional arrives reporting for duty! Super personable and talented individual, that knows exactly what and how to do to fix the equipment offering all if that at a very reasonable affordable price. The best home repair service experience EVER! If it's broken call Fred's and you will be gad that you did, I know I am!

After my basement flooded, I contacted Southern Lakes Plumbing & Heating, who recommended Phil's…read moreElectric Drain Service to fix the issue. When he arrived, I explained what was going on. Despite telling him that turning on the water caused flooding, he did so anyway, which, of course, only caused further flooding that I had to clean up myself afterwards. After about five minutes, in which he was talking out loud, clearly confused, not understanding what was going on, he told me he could not fix the issue and said that we needed a plumber. We were then told there would be a $145 service charge for coming out, but we were only informed of this service charge after "their work" was done, which lasted just five minutes and only caused further flooding. When I told him we were never informed about any service charge, they reduced the fee to $125. This will be our first and last time ever contacting Phil's Electric Drain Service, and I recommend you do the same due to their lack of expertise and extremely unethical practices that exploit those who use their services.

I had been told from another company that i would need to replace my pipes and after Phil's came out for a thorough cleaning it turned out i did not! Professional, honest and hardworking! I stopped in the other day and the whole store smelled badly of cigarette smoke so I got out as…read morequickly as I could. A store selling products to make my house clean should smell clean itself. I'd be afraid that products in that environment would absorb those smells and release them in my home. If you don't mind that kind of thing then it looked like they had a lot of vacuum related products to choose from.

I have never been a vacuum every other day person -- no other choice since "Frank" joined us. Forced to bring my Miele "Cat and Dog" vacuum for repair. I knew it had had a subpar repair while I was out of town -- and had an electrical short in the cable. But Swanson's checks your whole vacuum out. The HEPA Filter was apparently ancient. Worse yet, where the hose attached to the canister was slightly torn. Did not know either of those problems existed. Ok. So everything will be addressed now. In addition to this superlative service, they also had Miele vacuum bags on sale. And did you know, they have VERY reasonably priced bags for upright vacuums -- the kind with better filtration than the regular store kind. Prices on these bags is likewise reasonable. Come in sets of three; I bought two sets. So, for just under $200 -- received the above-described Miele vacuum repair and Miele bags and six upright vacuum bags. If you are familiar with Miele and anything Miele-related prices, that price is INCREDIBLE. But wait, yes there really is more. I ambulate with a rollator. When I dropped my vacuum off initially, someone came out to the parking lot to help carry it inside the store. When I left, the marvelous staff loaded my car. I try to do things myself and not burden other people. Even so, this gracious assistance, without being asked is much appreciated. Have been patronizing either this store or what used to be their second store in Rockford for years. Reliable, economical, trustworthy. They will call you to explain everything and ask for your input even. No rude surprises. Wish everybody conducted business the way Swanson's does. This is an old-fashioned dealership/service location, in business for the long haul.

Unfortunately have to leave a negative review. I bought a refurbished refrigerator from this…read morecompany, and it was delivered on time and very reasonably priced. When it arrived, my tenant sent me pictures of the "repaired" drawer, which was clearly broken before it was delivered. The controller didn't work from the get-go. The fridge continually froze everything. And yes, my tenants adjusted the thermostat..... So, I called Waln again, and he came out and put in another refurbished controller. It did not work...again. My tenants have been without a fridge for a month at this point. At this point, we bought a brand new fridge, and asked for a refund from Waln. I received MUCH push back. He did not want to honor a 30 day refund for a refrigerator that never worked...not even one day. Eventually, He agreed he would contact my tenants and arrange pickup. They have not heard him over two weeks later, and I'm sure at this point, I'm out $300. Please beware. We now have a junk fridge at our rental, and he also hauled away a very nice fridge that needed an easy fix. We just couldn't get any one out that could fix it and not charge us an arm and a leg. So, he has my money and my nicer fridge. I feel like I've been stolen from. It's really unfortunate to be taken advantage of like that. Please beware!!!
