I walked in to get car insurance on a used car I bought recently as a NEW customer. The lady at the front saw me walk in as we made eye contact several times as I was sitting down. I was 2nd in line as there was another group in front of me. The lady in front asked whos next and assisted the group in front of me. After she was done assisting them, she then went to the back. And then I was just sitting there like an idiot for the next 30-45 minutes.
There was a lady behind the monitor speaking on the phone in Spanish. I guess she was helping customers over the phone. However, she did get off the phone about 3-4 different times but didn't bother to look at me nor the other customers sitting down. She was quickly back on the phone speaking to someone so I didn't feel right just interrupting her.
It's a open area, you can see workers in the back in their desks and they can see you too. I must of saw 3 or 4 different workers glancing over at me and the other customers but not doing anything about it... Just moving on to the next call as it rang or talking amongst each other, laughing, etc.
It was only then one of the agents in the back was about to go to lunch. I overheard her asking other coworkers if they wanted anything as shes going out to lunch. However, I think her manager told her to check up on the customers before leaving in which I finally got to talk to someone. She got an agent from the back to finally talk to me.
I thought I was able to walk to the back and sit down with the agent but instead she just pulled out a clipboard with a blank sheet of computer paper, taking notes as she asked me questions. She kept having me to repeat what I said and spell out everything. I saw on her clipboard a good chunk of the stuff I spelled out was still incorrectly written down. Stuff like the city, street, etc. She took all of my information down and said she'll be back.
I realized after looking at my paperwork that I gave her the wrong color of my car but I didn't catch her name I asked the Spanish speaking lady at the front if she could call that agent back so that I can correct the car color. She asked who it was but I told her I didn't catch her name. She looked PISSED that she to do something. She then asked the agents in a very annoyed tone, who was working with me and I was able to talk to the agent to fix the car color. Sorry for inconveniencing you?
This was one of the most unprofessional setting I've had in a while. Please check up on your customers sitting down. At least have some sort of official Geico form that's being filled out on the spot or take me to the back with you at your desk so that we can have a chat as you explain the options available to me. Also, drop the attitude, some of us are potential new customers. I can somewhat understand if you get a nasty customer but I didn't even do anything. Just sat there like a idiot unattended for 30-45 minutes. read more
