I had an emergency and needed a tooth extracted asap. I called Dr. Yao's office and they were able to get be in later that day. Everything went very smooth from the original communication to walking out the door with a job well done. Dr. Yao was very friendly and took the time to get to know me a bit. If you're looking an awesome dentist I highly recommend Dr Yao. My father was my dentist till he retired and I have to say Dr Yao reminds me of my father with his work style and ethics. Always up todate with new techniques and equipment. Staff worked with me and my insurance asking if I wanted to do a procedure broken up since my insurance wouldn't cover it in one appointment. Horrible dental Dr. Yao dental across from echo lake 1515 N. 200th St. Shoreline, WA 98133 I had issues needed a lower partial .. My last one was lost and lasted 3 years . It took weeks to make at around $700 , in today's world of one day replacements ... Yeah no ... It took weeks ... Well after owning it just a two weeks , just removing it for cleaning it broke in 1/2 ... I was in pain the entire time it was in and still it hurts trying to heal from it being in my mouth ! Cuts and sores developed quickly . Nice crap quality it breaks in your fingers .. Clearly your just a number when they claim they can't remember you . This product is a choking hazard I will consult with attorneys and I'll be filing a complaint with the dds licensing ... And BBB. Avoid this place at all costs ... Coming from someone who fears most things dental, Dr. Yao is a GREAT dentist! He explains things, makes sure you're okay and even calls you at home afterwords to check up on you. I had my first root canal that I was so fearful of, (having heard some stories) and nothing! It was OK! I would and Do highly recommend him! And now he uses a laser drill! I worked for five years as a dental assistant, and I was able to work with several different dentists. The experience of seeing how so many dentists worked made me very picky about who I'd allow to work on my teeth. When I moved to Seattle, while trying to find a new dentist, I had a couple of bad experiences in the dental office. Fortunately, a friend told me about Dr. Yao. There are two general areas you should be concerned about with a dentist: technical ability and compassion/ethics. Dr. Yao excels in the technical area. He is an outstanding dentist who always challenges himself. This is reflected in his ongoing education - he pushes himself to learn as much as he can so he can provide the best patient care possible. In addition to his skill, he's extremely gentle - arguably the best trait in a dentist! When it comes to compassionate and ethical treatment of patients, Dr. Yao is second to none, and he hired staff who approach the world with a similar mindset. I'm disabled, and I live in constant pain. Just sitting in the treatment chair is painful for me. But Dr. Yao, and his staff do everything in their power to get me as comfortable as I can be. In most other medical offices, the unofficial motto is "Suck it up and deal". Everyone in this office is kind and helpful. They care about your dental health, of course. But they care about you as a person. This is an outstanding dentist, a wonderful group of people make up his staff, and you should definitely go to Dr. Yao. read more

Don't go here if you don't like to be cheated. I had been here for overt 2 years. They good job on their works, but they always try to sell a lot of things that you don't need. They charge you many things they did not do. So make sure you check your bill carefully. One time they tried to sell me the protective coating for my teeth. I asked the hygienist how much it cost? She told me $24 I said are you sure. She said let me go in front to double check. She came back and said yes its $24. I said go ahead and put it on. When got my bill it was $250 can you believe it? Another time, I came for my regular six months cleaning. They charged me $56 I called and asked why? they said it for the xray which they did not take any. 1 over charge mistake is OK with me but too many is very alarming. I have missed 1 appointment with them. They charged me $51. I call and said I have been with you guys for over 2 years. Would you remove the charge. They've said no even though have spent over $3000 with them. They will sent to collection if i dont pay. I paid my $51 and I AM OUT. I WILL NEVER COME BACK. I wanted to make sure my friends and ralatives dont even get close to this place. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Yao since he took over the practice. He is always so friendly, remembering things about the past conversations, yet so professional. I feel acquainted with his family although I have not met them because he shares stories of his boys. As for his service and that of his staff, I rate in at an A+. He has worked hard to improve his knowledge and skills and shares so of his knowledge as he works with me. I would probably best describe him as a perfectionist...and since I have been accused of the same thing, I really appreciate him. I have gone to see Doctor Yao for all of my dental work for over ten years. Doctor Yao is very skilled, and he knows how to work with patients who don't do well at the dentist's office. He is very patient and will work with you if you are nervous in the chair or have difficulty sitting still for the procedure. I haven't enjoyed going to the dentist since I was a child (before I started having dental/ orthodontal/periodontal problems)---awhile ago. I have had many dentists, dental surgeons, and hygienists since then, but my search for a great dentist and hygienist is over. I got the best cleaning and exam that I have ever gotten, since childhood at Dr. Yao's office--my sinuses even feel slightly less congested after that deep clean. I recently moved to WA and am recommending Dr. Yao's office to anyone that mentions they are looking for a new dentist. I think this will be your last stop.
