He said the swing overall looked good and corrected just a few things. He went over everything he recommended, took before and after video, and showed me where I needed corrections in the before video, and where I made the corrections in the after video. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to go to the range after the lesson. However, I played for the first time since the lesson yesterday, and I saw a huge difference in my game. I'm not a great golfer, but I had several pars and took about 6 strokes off of my normal score. I still have a long way to go but I would tell you that Frank is a great teacher and can help. If I can find time to play more golf, I will definitely come back to him for lessons.

While I played in my 20s while visiting my parents, I never before had official lessons, and it's fair to say that I was still a 'newbie' to the sport. After roughly 20 lessons across the two instructors, endless hours on the golf range and a par 3 course (thanks to some very patient individuals who were willing to put up with my play 1 - 2x/week), I never got better. My ball striking was inconsistent (as in, I couldn't connect all the time) and while my love for the game never waned, I did become increasingly frustrated. Elbow surgery forced me to take some time off and I decided that I needed to basically re-start from scratch. After researching golf instructors in South Florida, I came across Jess. I read the reviews, watched his videos and made the conscious decision to NOT swing a club until I had my first lesson with Jess. Well, that first lesson was today and I was absolutely floored. While other instructors focused on my grip and just watched me hack away hour after hour, Jess gave me actual tools that I can use to better my game. We worked on 3 specific drills that I can now focus on. Basic drills, but this was the first time I actually understood what was inhibiting me from having a consistent ability to connect with the ball. Somehow, these fundamentals were never discussed with me prior, even though I was taking lessons from PGA certified instructors. I do believe everyone learns differently. For me, having a knowledge in the fundamentals (e.g., weight on front leg, shoulder down, wrists straight) for the first time leaves me with the feeling that I can do this. Thanks, Jess! I just started playing golf and needed some fundamentals in order to get my swings right. I got…read morethe Groupon for an 1hr swing lesson, sent an email to Bob, he set up an account for me, and I was signed up with Cinchai "Cheech" Chuvichien at The Lakes at El Segundo for a week later. Cheech's station is at the top left of the driving range, and he was all set up and ready to go when I arrived. Because I was new and didn't have my own clubs, he actually got a couple of women's clubs from the clubhouse so I can practice with those. Cheech used the video analysis on my stance, swings, and everything else, and I was able to see how I was lined up vs how I should be lined up, my swing movements, and my club placement. It was an hour but I was still getting so tired at the end from swinging, haha. I had a lot of fun and was able to consistently get a good ball contact and shot over half of my shots, so I was happy. I didn't sign up for any additional lessons because they are way to expensive for me, and I think I just need to keep on practicing and playing on my own and making sure that I'm hitting the ball correctly 90% of the time before I need further and more advanced instructions.

I sent him several messages and he failed to respond. All I got was a sales email back asking if I wanted to sign up for a lesson plan at really high prices (I think about $140 per hour). He was obviously overwhelmed with the Groupons. He should have set a limit. Also I expected some kind of communication back, whether it was a message saying he was busy and to contact him again in a couple of weeks. As I had started my lesson plan I at least expected some kind of preferential treatment over those who had not started yet. Anyhow Groupon refunded me when I explained the issue to them. Lesson wise, he started about 20 minutes late, but we still worked on and did the full hour and probably some more. The tips and pics taken were useful. However I did not like his instruction. I found him very cantankerous and flippant. He asked me questions and when I tried to answer, gave me smart ass responses. I certainly will not be going back again. There are so many other good (and cheaper) choices in the area - especially Zack Allen in Burbank.

Kings Point Executive Golf Course is a hidden gem. We recently played a round there and had a…read morewonderful time. The course was well maintained and well marked. My wife and I played from different tee boxes and both found it to be challenging and fun. The surrounding homes will give you pause, but look past that and focus on the golf and you will have a great time. In fact, I scored my first hole in one on a par 3 (126 yards)! Nice course.

This group runs the pickleball program at Valencia Sound. A recent men's member-guest tournament…read morewas very poorly run by FM Tennis. Timing and rules changed throughout the event, teams played different numbers of matches and teams did not play every other team as we were told they would. I have played in many tournaments and run some too and this should be straightforward with a fixed amount of time and a fixed number of teams. Two teams were selected to play a finals match, how was not clear. Our team never played one of them and we only played a few points in a partial game against the other. No one knows how well their team did overall because no results were posted. I was very disappointed and my partner, who invited me to play with him in this event, apologized for the poor experience and said he was embarrassed.

The event begins with check in from 7am where you'll sign a waiver and proceed to the adjacent tables to grab goody bags, golf shirts, hand rolled cigars and an umbrella which is a bad omen to hand out at a golf event, lol. Once you're checked in you're free to grab a hearty breakfast inside the clubhouse lounge. All your hot breakfast items plus fresh juice, coffee and everything for a hearty feast. Once you've filled your belly, head back outside to hit balls on the driving range or use one of the chip or putting facilities to sharpen your skills before hitting the links. This beautifully landscaped course will challenge golfers of any skill set. There's undulations along the way, plenty of water to manage your way around and lots of other obstacles to test your skills. Afterwards we were treated to lunch and a silent auction to help raise some more $ for a great cause. This is a great course and the MDA hosts a great event if you ever get the opportunity to attend and play.

However Gary will often demonstrate with a student what the martial intention of the move would be with an opponent .
