While I played in my 20s while visiting my parents, I never before had official lessons, and it's fair to say that I was still a 'newbie' to the sport. After roughly 20 lessons across the two instructors, endless hours on the golf range and a par 3 course (thanks to some very patient individuals who were willing to put up with my play 1 - 2x/week), I never got better. My ball striking was inconsistent (as in, I couldn't connect all the time) and while my love for the game never waned, I did become increasingly frustrated. Elbow surgery forced me to take some time off and I decided that I needed to basically re-start from scratch. After researching golf instructors in South Florida, I came across Jess. I read the reviews, watched his videos and made the conscious decision to NOT swing a club until I had my first lesson with Jess. Well, that first lesson was today and I was absolutely floored. While other instructors focused on my grip and just watched me hack away hour after hour, Jess gave me actual tools that I can use to better my game. We worked on 3 specific drills that I can now focus on. Basic drills, but this was the first time I actually understood what was inhibiting me from having a consistent ability to connect with the ball. Somehow, these fundamentals were never discussed with me prior, even though I was taking lessons from PGA certified instructors. I do believe everyone learns differently. For me, having a knowledge in the fundamentals (e.g., weight on front leg, shoulder down, wrists straight) for the first time leaves me with the feeling that I can do this. Thanks, Jess! Practice starts tomorrow and I'm excited to continue this journey with you!

HIGHLY Recommend Mike Simmons!…read more I held back on reviewing and waited until I was good amount of lessons in to give a thorough review. But cutting to the chase: Get lessons with the guy! You won't regret it! The long version: My father + I have been golfing together since I was super young. (He secretly hoped for me to be the next Michelle Wie, pfft) But it was always casual and my father has always been my "coach". Fast forward to now, after a longggg hiatus I'm now in my late twenties and about to move to the Carolinas where there is a myriad of golf courses (like Florida). I really wanted to be more than just "decent" or "okay" and hold my own out there. Lets just say that I wanted to graduate from schooling everyone at Mini Golf and get ready for the Big Leagues ;D That's where Mike Simmons comes in. My father found Mike and we immediately set lessons together as a Father-Daughter activity together before I move away. We bought a package from Mike that includes 6 Lessons and round of Golf on the course. Despite having some experience and my father being his own self proclaimed guru (with clubs straight from 1970s and never updated, mind you) Mike is able to break down the fundamentals of the game in a very thorough and concrete way. (And convinced my father to update his clubs! haha) Our lessons consisted of learning all aspects of the game. History, foundation, long range, short game. And all the little details in between from your stance, how to properly how the club, lining your shot. Nothing is missed. At times it may seem like information overload but once you hit that sweet shot you'll have that "Ah-ha!" moment that only Mike could provide. If I wasn't leaving in a couple of months I would definitely get more lessons from him. A++

This is my 2nd year of golfing & within a 1hr lesson he has transformed my game! He watched a few of my hits & knew right away what my swing issues were. I'm still in shock at the distance I'm getting with my driver (my most challenging club) & with my clubs in general. It's still taking some practice to ingrain my new move of rotating my hips to the right with my back swing (including lifting my left foot to get that movement since I don't have the flexibility yet) along with slowing down my swing so that I'm on the proper swing plane. End result is I'm more consistent with hitting the sweet spot & my ball is flying yards further rather then the former mis-hits which included hitting the ground behind the ball & losing lots of power. My last couple of rounds were so much more fun as a result of at least getting distance with my driver & clubs in general. Each euphoric hit ended with a "thank you Stephen!" It's due to my lesson with him that I've truly seen my game transformed. I wish he was closer to California but will gladly fly back to have future lessons &/or do remote/video lessons.

Our group of five had an incredible time-- I returned for a private lesson with another member of our group after the program ended. Michele is exceptionally patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging. I'm already looking forward to returning this summer for more instruction. I would gladly travel a full day just to work with her again. Highly recommended! Thank you Wendy
