Jess Frank far surpassed any notion I had about golf lessons. Jess is a consummate professional,…read morewho is well versed in his field. When I first moved to Florida 5 years ago I started to take golf lessons and over the course of 2…read moreyears, used two different instructors. While I played in my 20s while visiting my parents, I never before had official lessons, and it's fair to say that I was still a 'newbie' to the sport. After roughly 20 lessons across the two instructors, endless hours on the golf range and a par 3 course (thanks to some very patient individuals who were willing to put up with my play 1 - 2x/week), I never got better. My ball striking was inconsistent (as in, I couldn't connect all the time) and while my love for the game never waned, I did become increasingly frustrated. Elbow surgery forced me to take some time off and I decided that I needed to basically re-start from scratch. After researching golf instructors in South Florida, I came across Jess. I read the reviews, watched his videos and made the conscious decision to NOT swing a club until I had my first lesson with Jess. Well, that first lesson was today and I was absolutely floored. While other instructors focused on my grip and just watched me hack away hour after hour, Jess gave me actual tools that I can use to better my game. We worked on 3 specific drills that I can now focus on. Basic drills, but this was the first time I actually understood what was inhibiting me from having a consistent ability to connect with the ball. Somehow, these fundamentals were never discussed with me prior, even though I was taking lessons from PGA certified instructors. I do believe everyone learns differently. For me, having a knowledge in the fundamentals (e.g., weight on front leg, shoulder down, wrists straight) for the first time leaves me with the feeling that I can do this. Thanks, Jess! Practice starts tomorrow and I'm excited to continue this journey with you!

I just started playing golf and needed some fundamentals in order to get my swings right. I got…read morethe Groupon for an 1hr swing lesson, sent an email to Bob, he set up an account for me, and I was signed up with Cinchai "Cheech" Chuvichien at The Lakes at El Segundo for a week later. Cheech's station is at the top left of the driving range, and he was all set up and ready to go when I arrived. Because I was new and didn't have my own clubs, he actually got a couple of women's clubs from the clubhouse so I can practice with those. Cheech used the video analysis on my stance, swings, and everything else, and I was able to see how I was lined up vs how I should be lined up, my swing movements, and my club placement. It was an hour but I was still getting so tired at the end from swinging, haha. I had a lot of fun and was able to consistently get a good ball contact and shot over half of my shots, so I was happy. I didn't sign up for any additional lessons because they are way to expensive for me, and I think I just need to keep on practicing and playing on my own and making sure that I'm hitting the ball correctly 90% of the time before I need further and more advanced instructions.

I bought a Groupon for this - 3 lessons ($99)…read more I managed to get my first lesson no problem. Then the issue came with trying to book my next lesson. I was instructed to email Bob. I sent him several messages and he failed to respond. All I got was a sales email back asking if I wanted to sign up for a lesson plan at really high prices (I think about $140 per hour). He was obviously overwhelmed with the Groupons. He should have set a limit. Also I expected some kind of communication back, whether it was a message saying he was busy and to contact him again in a couple of weeks. As I had started my lesson plan I at least expected some kind of preferential treatment over those who had not started yet. Anyhow Groupon refunded me when I explained the issue to them. Lesson wise, he started about 20 minutes late, but we still worked on and did the full hour and probably some more. The tips and pics taken were useful. However I did not like his instruction. I found him very cantankerous and flippant. He asked me questions and when I tried to answer, gave me smart ass responses. I certainly will not be going back again. There are so many other good (and cheaper) choices in the area - especially Zack Allen in Burbank.

I booked this class via class pass for the 6:15 am time slot. The Hot Room studio is located at the very back of the gym. Yoga mats and towels are provided, just bring yourself and water. I definitely push myself and book with Mario again. Be prepared to SWEAT. Only con is the music was a tad bit too loud so it was kind of hard listening to the directions.

She did mention she was new and hoped we enjoyed her session. It's safe to say we all did. I love that this class had number placements for all mats so everyone has an adequate amount of space during the session. I've been to classes before that the mat placement was off and the class was over capacity, which was very uncomfortable. This class was very intimate it was 7 total with the instructor. The session was about 65-minutes in total. We soaked up all of that infrared energy this morning. The music selection was relaxing and the instructors tone was perfect and not overbearing. This gym sits in a Publix plaza so it's plenty of parking spaces. It's recommended to bring water, towel, and mat but I did see towels/mats in the studio for those who didn't have one. They also offer other sessions like hot Pilates, hot fit, and hot sculpt. I can't wait to come back to try the others!
