I went in nervous because I thought I might of needed deep work such as teeth pulled due to a root canal not sitting right. It was the end of the day around 4 pm on a Friday, the staff was extremely friendly, Dr was also patient and friendly they all answered all my questions and concerns. They took time to explain all that I needed to know. What I liked was they informed me once I filled out forms they informed me where I can find the restroom. Given options on diagnostic machines to be used and discussed any concerns or choices. No wait time for Dr. Dixon. Prompt, thorough and advised of all options. The office staff was nice. The assistant very nicely distracted my anxious teenager since Dr Dixon was way too busy ignoring him which was kind of her. Dr. Dixon however was a condescending jerk. His entire stance and attitude was that having my son in his office was a hindrance. And there were zero other patients so he wasn't busy in any way. Why was he a jerk? Well, I'm not sure. As mentioned, his office was completely empty. We were very open about the fact that my 17 year old has anxiety about dentists - and life in general. We're both funny and easy going about it because we know that people without anxiety don't really want to deal with that so it wasn't like we made Dixon feel like he had to be responsible for my son's fears. And we weren't impatient or rude in any way. So why? Well, you see... my son is very obviously queer. Did Dr. Dixon's attitude have anything to do with that? I don't know. But I do know that there weren't a lot of other factors involved that could result in him being so spectacularly awful to a sweet, gentle kid like mine. I already told my own dentist who referred us over that Dr. Dixon was awful. I will tell anyone who ever even mentions their teeth that they should avoid him. I went out of my way to write this review which is only like the 5th time I've ever written a review and I think the only negative one I've ever written just to make sure that no queer kid goes there without protecting themselves. Because life is already rough on them, and just because my kid walked away wondering if THAT'S why he was treated like he was something on the bottom of another person's shoe doesn't mean I want anyone else to feel that way. Because no one should treat you differently because of your gender or color or sexual identity but especially not a medical professional where you've already made yourself vulnerable by allowing them agency over your body. Or hey - maybe Dr. Dixon just got some really bad news that day and had no idea he was treating a teenage boy like garbage. We'll never know because you couldn't pay us to go back. read more

Dr. Dixon was great, nice and very detailed with my exam . But he needs to replace his front staff . Susan . The old lady who hates her life and people . She was rude and difficult when I first called because of a referral here. Then when I show up to my appt she is even more rude when I'm asking for an explanation for the charges . The young lady who took my X-rays was nice and helpful . But if I ever have to deal with this office again I hope she's gone. Looks as if she's caused the negative reviews here for this place too. I was referred to Dr. DIXON for a root canal because my tooth was difficult due to roots being twisted... I was really nervous about the appointment. The staff and Dr. DIXON really knew how get me to calm down, Dr. was so patient with me even asking if I needed a break or wanted to sit up and I was so comfortable and felt NO PAIN! I told him NO SIR! I told him your doing great! I am a cash patient and they even gave me a discount! They wore PPE and office was VERY clean! Will go back for and special needs for my teeth. I just wanted to thank Dr. Dixon and his kind staff. I was referred here due to a root canal that was unfortunately improperly done when I was a child. It was on a tooth that had a bridge placed over it so it was a slightly tricky case. Dr Dixon saw me on a Wednesday and was able to get me in on Friday to complete the retreat root canal. He is extremely professional and meticulous about his work. He answered every question I had. As far as the procedure, it was the easiest most pain free dental procedure I'd ever had. I recently had a root canal done here and I can honestly say it was the best dental experience I've ever had. I've had some bad reactions in the past to the epinephrine they give you and I was really concerned about it. But Dr Dixon answered all my questions and after the medication was administered he didn't leave the room. It made me feel a lot more comfortable just in case I did have a reaction. I ended up being totally fine and had no discomfort during the root canal. He knows what he's doing and truly cares that his patients are comfortable the entire time. read more

Dr. Dixon is great!!! This review is a bit late since I had my root canal @ 10 months ago. At the time of my treatment I was extremely nervous since the last time I had dental work done was @ 25 years ago. I went in trying to look calm but was extremely nervous since I heard horror stories of the pain during and after a root canal. Well to my luck Dr Dixon was the best,, I didn't feel when he numbed me, nothing felt during treatment and I was very well afterwards!!!! If I ever need another root canal (which I hope I don't) I will definitely come to Dr Dixon. I also need to say that his staff is amazing, front and back! read more

I was a new patient to this office last week and I wanted to share my experience. I was referred by my Turlock dentist, originally I was referred to a Turlock office but given the long term appointment I was referred to this office in Modesto after. After a quick review of the online reviews I was convinced that it would be good to come to this office. I called and originally had an appointment late august I called again on July 11 and luckily I got in earlier on July 13th due to cancellations. I did not receive a reminder call or text at all nor any information prior to my appointment. I came in and had to bring in my daughter with me, who is eight. We walked into the office and no one was at the front desk. All of a sudden one of the front desk employee, I didn't catch her name but she was elderly with gray shoulder length hair apparently she might be your office manager, based on these further negative reviews I have just read. She came out and did not greet us at all and immediately yelled that we needed a mask and that we could not be in the office without one. I asked her kindly if she had one since we didn't have any as its not required in our county at the moment and she said "no don't you have one in your car ?" I told her no of course If I had one I would of grabbed it " I asked her if she needed me to get one from the store or what I had to do since she stood there awkward and upset, she rolled her eyes and pulled a mask out of her drawer and gave my daughter and myself one, after she stated she didn't have any. Of course If I had known I would of respected your office rules and wore a mask but not knowing we did not wear one nor had any in the car. It was the worst service I have ever received in any professional office in my life. Especially having my 8year old daughter to experience that from an adult. I wanted to share this as I decided to cancel my future appointment with this office and go elsewhere due to my horrible experience. Even though I paid an extra $100 for an additional exam! I hope that this office can provide training for the employees to know how to treat your patients especially new patients coming in with more empathy and understanding. I was referred to Dr Dixon by my current dentist for a retreatment root canal. The root canal I had previously done was done incorrect and so I never had a permanent cap placed . Well of course it started acting up so I decided to do more research to find a good dentistry to have it taken care of . I contacted Dr Dixon office to schedule my initial appointment , after reading his reviews I was confident with my referral, however when I called his receptionist (older lady ) was pretty rude when I spoke with her . Her demeanor just came across as very unhappy (not sure why she's in customer service if she doesn't like people ) . However I scheduled my appointment anyways hoping my experience with the Dr would be better . Appointment was scheduled about a month later and I ended up bitting down on the sore tooth causing MAJOR PAIN needing to have my consultation a lot sooner . I called in again thankfully to have spoke with salon (sorry if I misspelled that!) She was very kind and seemed genuinely concerned . She got me in for the next day with a cancellation she had !! Meeting Dr Dixon he was very informative, however he was kind of rude as well. He tells me the tooth needs a re-treatment and not always is a retreatment a guarantee to work. He then proceeded to ask what I wanted to do , in severe pain I just said then I want it pulled if there's any chance I can pay all this and the tooth not take to treatment . He then said "well I save teeth I don't pull them so I can't help you ". I then said "well my dentist said that they couldn't pull as well ,they made it seem as if you could . He responded that's fine but I can't help you . I then asked if I choose to get the treatment when I could be seen , because who knew how long it would take me to find another doctor go through another consultation to get this damn tooth PULLED ! He then said well you just said you wanted it pulled so what do you want ? All I wanted was treatment! For the pain to stop ! Of course I'd want to keep my tooth if possible however the possibility it wouldn't work was scary ! At this point he was very passive , acted as if he didn't want to even treat me . I still proceeded with the retreatment as they could get me in on that Monday . Dr Dixon was gentle I will say that . Fast forward days later my tooth still hurt a lot and was sensitive , I called to get some advice and one again got the older lady who hates her life :( . I told her my problems and said I just wanted to know if it was normal to have , she then responds "WELL IF YOU LET ME FINISH MY QUESTIONS I CAN TELL YOU! " . How irritating . My over all experience is trumped by bad vs good unfortunately. read more

Dr. Dixon performed my first root canal. I'd been very nervous about the procedure because everyone I spoke to about it had nothing but terrible things to say. I'm delighted to report that my experience was quite the opposite. Dr. Dixon and his staff were warm, welcoming and very gentle. The atmosphere was soothing and quiet. Dr. Dixon seems to have a very gentle nature, and best of all, a gentle hand when it comes to his profession. He made the experience very tolerable, and what's better (knock on wood) I haven't had any complications. I have had two root canals by Dr. Dixon and I have been happy with the office and Dr. Dixons work both times! The office staff is very friendly and accommodating and Dr. Dixon really knows what he is doing. He makes you feel at ease and makes sure you are comfortable with the procedure. Whenever being referred to a specialist I'm always somewhat hesitant, not knowing what to expect. The appointment was for my daughter, a young adult, who has always had perfect teeth; no cavities or any previous dental procedures. Needless to say she was absolutely petrified concerning the appointment and had a slight melt down once she sat in the chair. I found Dr Dixon to be extremely pleasant, compassionate and knowledgable. His mannerism towards his patients is very calming. Thank goodness he also did a thorough job evaluating the cause of the sensitivity and pain she was experiencing. I didn't even get work done, I couldn't make my appointments. So they charged me like $25 for each missed appointment, rude lady that set the appointments. I refused to pay, so they sent it to collections and ruined my credit.
