There were good things and bad things about this restaurant. I'll try and give as balanced a view of it as I can. The decor is great. I love the cosy intimate vibe here. But that's pretty much the only thing that I can recommend. What you get here is much the same as you get in every other Turkish fish restaurant in berlin, just you pay more for it. The salads are not included, like they are in places like Taka Fish House... When we asked for a salad, the waitress asked if we wanted sheep cheese or olives in it, we said sheep cheese - only at the end when we got the bill did we realise it cost an extra euro - bringing the whole salad for two to 8 euros. That's already 8 euros more than most other fish restaurants charge. We ordered a mackerel (one of my favourite fishes) and anchovies. The fish took well over 35 minutes to arrive, and the restaurant wasn't even that packed. The anchovies were perfect - nice and juicy with just the right amount of crispiness. The mackerel however was hands down the worst I've ever had - bone dry, tasteless, overcooked to oblivion and not very fresh. Despite that I was so hungry by that point that I had to eat it.. but it was very unsatisfying.
I also have to dock the restaurant points for cleanliness. I visited the bathroom and it smelled of urine and was full of flies. The restaurant too - we were sitting outside and there were 3 maggots writhing on the ground and tons of insects buzzing around. Also I kept getting waves of a bad smell while I was eating and kept smelling my fish to see if that was it. Only when we left we realised they had a bin 2 metres away from the patio, full to the brim with rotting fish - no wonder the place is full of flies, maggots and insects!
It might do good business because it's one of the only fish restaurants in charlottenburg/moabit but there are plenty better places in kreuzberg, neukolln and even prenzlauerberg doing the same type of food much cheaper, cleaner and, importantly, tastier. Our experience was so offputting, we'll probably never come here again unfortunately. read more
