It appears this bullshit company is still operating so I thought I'd throw in my two cents to warn people- do not, under any circumstances, get insurance through this company. I was a wide eyed 19 year old when I signed up, my apartment complex recommended them and I didn't know any better. Lived at that complex for two years, and before I moved I spent an entire month trying to cancel to let them know I'd be moving. I must have called this company 30 times, no one ever answered. I once sat on hold for an hour and a half. They continued to charge my card, and I continued to be unable to simply speak to someone through phone or email. I ended up having to cancel my card because I didn't know how else to get them to stop charging me. I wrote a letter to the BBB, but it doesn't appear that the overwhelming amount of complaints about these guys have done anything. Stay far, far, far away. read more

I tried to call the different numbers listed to cancel my renters insurance, no luck. I did find an online form I sent in. I asked for confirmation after sending in the form 3 times and NOTHING! After reading the reviews I decided to call my bank and let them know not to accept any addition automatic debits from this company! Customer service is non existent with these guys. I recommend to all new potential customers stay away! read more

If I could give them a big fat 0 I would! The rude customer service rep hung up on me, I'm not even insured yet. (Just trying to establish a policy) Just can't imagine if I were in a situation and needed them. Screw you too erenters! read more

Went with this company because we were new to the state and the complex recommended it price seemed a bit steep so after a few months I decided to call in to see if they are more affordable plans. Waited on hold for about 15mins someone answered the phone but they were busy talking to a coworker about their plans for the weekend to hear me. Then I hear a dial tone the SOB hung up on me. How unprofessional, called back and was told their offices are now closed :/ office hours are not posted on site so wasted time calling and waiting. Since I was unable to get a quote for a better price I went shopping elsewhere. Ran into an app called Lemonade. Gave me a better price literally 1/4 of what I was paying for more coverage. I will making sure my complex is aware of this new provider would be a much better recommendation to new tenants vs eRenter. Also will notify every in the complex i come across. May not affect the company personally but, hey at the end of the day its less money in their pockets and more in mines. :) read more

eRenterPlan provides overpriced renter's insurance and is among the least customer-friendly insurance brokers out there. Even the simple act of cancelling your policy is made difficult - there's no option to cancel online, you have to call their customer service support number, and you're likely to experience long wait times (I waited 20 minutes+ before giving up). Far better options exist. read more

Awful. On hold for over an hour multiple times and nobody picks up: I always hear that "my expected wait time is over 30 minutes" no matter when I call and no matter how long I wait. They're unreachable by email and their website has been broken for months (can't create account, reset password, or log in). They're now going to charge me for a renewal even though I'm moving, and I have no way to cancel! How do you think you'll ever file a claim through them if you need to? This is eRenterPlan's response to a similar complaint about being unreachable: "Hi Brian, Thanks for sharing your about experience, we apologize for the level of service you received. Please give us a call at our customer service line 1-888-512-4204 if you need more assistance." Hilarious! What do you think we've all been trying to do? read more

I hate this company, I had a claim but because they did not write the policy correctly, the claim is not being covered. This is BS, I'm a licensed insurance agent, so I know better, but these A-holes just don't care. To answer the question about long wait times and phone numbers, there is a number I found and every time I have had to call I have reached someone within minutes. 949-809-7019. Try getting through that way. read more

I believe that this company is probably an elaborate scam. I have been calling the provided number on their website (1-888-512-4204), in order to cancel our service since 02/26/9, which apparently connects you to an automated service that asks provides you with a total of 25 automated offers for stupid services. After declining all of them the number provides an automated message that states that the number has changed to 1-800-712-6600 which in turn send you to a 411 type service. This brings up a HUGE RED flag with regards to this being a fake company. It is now 03/02/19 and I have yet to be able to cancel this policy. Fortunately, my card on file has already expired and I will not be paying any further bills sent to us as we have already moved out of the apartment complex where this service was required. THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE THAT IS LOOKING FOR RENTERS INSURANCE: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. I will be notifying my bank to cancel any attempts to charge my account from this company. If this is what I have to go through just to cancel, I hat to think what would've had to be done in order to file a claim. read more

This is the WORSE company I have EVER dealt with!! I canceled a policy and ERenterPlan still charged my account. Two months down the road and 15 phone calls later, I am still waiting for the refund check. Every call I have made, "we are experiencing a higher than normal call volume". Liberty Mutual is CHEAPER and MUCH BETTER!! Do NOT use this company. By far the worse company! I cannot say this enough. ZERO STARS!! read more

Please don't use them - its virtually impossible to cancel without putting a merchant block on your credit card

Did it all online and was easy and painless! I was able to pay for it all in one quick, easy payment! They don't scam you like the other reviews say. They warn you at least 2 or 3 times that after one year, you must cancel it or else you will continue to be automatically enrolled in their insurance. Definetly recommend this to a friend! read more

Do not use this company! Look elsewhere. I used because recommended by apartment complex. After 18 months got transferred so cancelled policy. Still CANNOT get the refund that I am due. Each phone call takes a minimum of 20 minutes being on hold before you get a person. I think they have a strategy of hoping that people will give up and quit calling. Thank goodness I never had to file a claim! read more

I cancelled my eRenter's policy with customer service back in November 2019 and they just sent notice they were drafting automatic payment again. I reminded them it was cancelled and they conveniently said they have no record of cancellation. I pulled up the old email including their response to my cancellation, and forwarded it to them. I also had my bank cancel my card and re-issue me another one with a new number. What crooks eRenter Plan has turned out to be. read more

This company is terrible. Filed a claim, they didn't answer or return my calls for months, then they sent me a letter rejecting my claim due to my unresponsiveness. Called them to cancel my plan, and they hung up on me. read more

Piss poor customer service to say the least. They never answer the phone! If it wasn't for having to have this service where I live I would never deal with them! Let's hope nothing ever happens to my property. I am sure I would NEVER get anything worked out with them! read more

FRAUD!! Identity theft!! We moved out of the apartment and cancelled our insurance back in 2010. Surprisingly we saw a charge from eRenter in March 2015!! Digging further we realized that we got charged in March 2014 as well, unnoticed. Tried calling them but they are always on system maintenance and it seems impossible to reach this company. It's just real scary that once they got your information, they may decide to start charging you again, regardless whether you use them as your insurance company or not!!! read more

Anytime you can receive a claim check within 5 business days, that is as good as it gets!

First time I signed up for renters insurance. My complex recommended them and from my experience it was such an easy and painless process. I literally spent five minutes from when I typed the url to when I paid for my insurance. I would recommend them to all my friends. read more

Signing was easy and price is reasonable. They sent us reminders about a couple of weeks before they're going to charge for our next payment (we did biannually installments). When it was time for me to want to transfer to a new apartment complex, I emailed them asking about transferring. No answer. So, I tried calling at LEAST 5 times a day from Monday-Thursday (Today) and I still haven't gotten a hold of ANYONE! I've been on the phone waiting to talk to someone for the past 45 minutes! This is getting seriously out of hand!!! read more

Never ever buy insurance from them. It is very easy to sign up. But you will never notice that they were going to charge you forever when you sign up. They are dishonest and definitely scam. This is the first insurance company that will renew your policy without your authorization. Buy from decent companies such as those big auto insurance companies. Yes, I would give them zero star if I could. They are also under "Multifamily Internet Ventures, LLC " under yelp. Be careful! read more

I canceled my policy on 4/24/17 when I moved out, and have proof - this company is a SCAM, and I just found they have been charging me since 2017 for a policy that doesn't exist. I see this has been an issue for a lot of reviewers. I am having NO luck getting anyone to help me - help chat doesn't work, no response via email, no human on the phone. The charges are being taken straight from my checking account, so I can't even dispute like I can with a credit or debit charge. I will be notifying my bank to REFUSE any other charges and will be seeking refunds for the charges I've paid for nothing, as it is literally just robbery. read more

said I owed for two months prior when my policy was cancelled two days ago for non payment after I had paid the previous months but convenient. Who lnows how they pay out. read more

This company is CRAP. If I could rate it with 0 stars, I would. You can't ever get in touch with a HUMAN and when you try, you're put on hold for 30 minutes or more. I've been trying to cancel my policy for the last two weeks. I've sent three emails and tried to call twice. I can't get in touch with anyone. I received a transaction on my debit card that I did not authorize so I called my bank and I'm getting a new card in the mail. THIS COMPANY IS AWFUL! And it could also be fake. read more

Terrible company. Very hard to get a hold of anyone and 'agents' will not even respond to your emails. Good luck getting any claims approved. Claim can clearly fall within your policy's coverage, and they will still lie and twist words in order to deny it. This company is not worth the trouble. There are cheaper alternatives. read more

This is the first time I've purchased renters insurance, and although my car insurance company came in cheaper, they weren't the fastest. eRenter got me covered same day over the phone. This company is very reasonable when it comes to price, The rep was super nice and explained all of details, including cost, deductibles, and we even discussed the "what if" factors. I had the policy in my email within minutes of hanging up the phone, AND my rep sent a copy of the policy to the property I wanted to rent. The rep also did great at promoting and up-selling the additional products eRenter offered. So tell your friends to check them out. They won't be sorry. read more

Quick, easy, and painless enrollment process. No complaints.

I would give 0 stars for customer service if I could. It is March and I have yet to even receive a response from a January email. All information was provide to receive a pro-rated check since policy was cancelled, and no one will answer or respond. The lack of customer service is unacceptable for an insurance company. Avoid at all costs. read more

This company has a super shady relationship with the Irvine Company. I'm guessing there are a ton of kick-backs going on between the two. I was a policy holder for two years. When my term was getting close to expiring, I received an email saying that I had 30 days to renew or it would get cancelled. Pretty standard right? That very same evening, I got back to my apartment (Irvine Co.) to find a notice on my door from apartment management, saying that "it has come to our attention that you no longer have renter's insurance," and that I was in default of my lease, and to comply immediately or I'll be evicted . So eRenterplan is sending my private policy information to Irvine Company, and using threat of eviction to pressure me into buying another policy from them. I ended up calling the Auto Club, getting the exact same policy PLUS the AAA roadside assistance membership for about 40% less than eRenterplan. read more

I too have joined the ranks of what appears to be a long list of people simply trying to cancel their policy. I've found it impossible to reach anyone by phone despite sitting on endless holds, and have received no response to web inquiries. Yet they continue to charge my card for insurance at a place I no longer live at. Looks like I'll be having to go the better business bureau route too just so I can cancel my policy, because I honestly don't know how else to do so. read more

There's only one thing I hate more than this SCAM of a company: FLAT TIRES. For the most part, it is a real scam: they will sell your email to every market on Earth, you will notice spams flooding your inbox as soon as they have your info. Claims: get ready to receive 10% or less of the actual value of your stolen goods, after the deductible and the "devaluation" enter in the game. Cancellations: it is simply not possible to cancel online, there is no set up for this. The only way to do it is after waiting 50 plus minutes on the phone and someone will answer eventually, and will ask you all sort of questions about why you want to cancel your policy. Where can such companies be reported for fraud and poor business, other than here?? They should not even exist as insurance providers. read more

RE: Cancellation signed up for them temporarily as I realized my old insurance had lapsed. Afterwards, read some of the negative reviews about troubles with cancellation, and was a bit worried. However, I had no problems cancelling my service, even though I had only used it for a few days. Called up the number on the contract and had it taken care of in minutes. Got confirmation and refund right away. Maybe they are stepping up their customer service game after getting some bad reviews, or perhaps its better to call up the local insurance servicer rather than their national customer service number. Anyways, they did alright by me, and the sign up process was really easy too! read more

This company is an absolute scam. I paid $320 upfront for a year of coverage to move into my apartment, due to a mix up on my end I thought I would need a new insurance policy. Turns out my old one worked just fine, so I cancelled my policy with ERenterPlan the very next day. I called after not receiving a refund and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to receive a paper check in the mail. I called back at the 4 week mark, 5 week mark, and 6 week mark and let them know I never received my refund. Every time they told me to wait for it because "mail is slow right now", "the weather is bad so mail is backed up" etc. At the 6 week mark I still haven't received it, so I called and told them I need a stop payment issued on the check that was supposedly sent my way, I need a new check and proof of that check being sent with a picture of the check and the check number so I know they issued it. I got told off by a customer service representative and then hung up on. I called back and got hung up on AGAIN immediately after asking for a stop payment. This company is a complete fraud and will hold onto your money hoping you forget about it. Customer service is awful, every single person I spoke with was rude and I STILL DON'T HAVE MY MONEY. They also said to issue a new check I am responsible for paying a fee. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

This is long, But want to explain what transpired. I am 65 years old. Owned a home for over 30 years but sold it. The entire time we had the house, I NEVER filed a claim. Car insurance with Geico for over 50 years only one claim for a windshield. Never had a wreck even. I moved into an apartment with my friend. We have been friends since 1970s. Her grandchildren call me grandma. We got the policy with erenter because the apartment recommended them. Right after moving in, I got very sick and undergoing chemo - in and out of hospital. A couple of times my friend was spooked because she came home alone at night and door was unlocked. But I had so much going on and it never occurred to me that someone would be coming into our apartment. Our lease expired on May 1st. Because I was looking at going into hospice, we decided not to renew but not move out. I called erenter in early April and the girl told me the policy expired on April 15 not May 1st. So i extended it and paid for it. Explained to her what was going on and she said if we didnt move out on May 1st just call and they could extend it. We noticed that some items were missing out of the apartment. Spent weeks looking for them. They were items that belonged to my parents (both deceased). I was so upset that it didnt even occur to me to file a claim. Until my roommate told me to. I have NEVER filed a claim like this before. Had no idea how to begin and with all the medical stuff going on - it is overwhelming. The girl on the phone told me the policy was extended until May 2019 and I could pay monthly until I found out when I was moving. When I called today, the man on the phone was RUDE AND NASTY - and that doesnt even begin to describe him. I finally just told him to forget it and hung up. All but called me a crook. I hung up and called Geico and got the same policy limits for $100 less. I am beginning to think from his attitude that IF they pay my claim - it will most likely be a miracle. For an agent to be that rude when he is trying to sell a policy - cant imagine how rude the claims department will be. read more

Another 1 star review for this joke of a "Company".We have had this "Insurance" through this scam for our Apartment complex for over three years. No problems. Well, today, our water heater ruptured, flooding not only our balcony, but our downstairs neighbors as well. You think that SOMEONE there would answer the phone? Forget it! I will be shopping for a NEW renters insurance company as soon as possible. Like today! Also, I can't vouch for every single Yelp review on here, but it looks like we are all having the same issues. Stay away and save yourself a headache! read more

They were still charging me for an apartment I had two years ago. You cannot cancel online and it is difficult to get through to a human to cancel. They charged me $60 last renewal and will only refund $19 unless I show proof of move out as if a CHANGE OF BILLING ADDRESS wasn't enough. read more

I only signed up with these folks because the apartment complex I was renting from, City Lights in Aliso Viejo, required it. I don't know how they are at paying out if you ever have a claim, but they are terrible when it comes to cancellation. I tried online and the system wouldn't recognize my policy number, etc. I tried calling in and the agent started asking for one piece of ID after another and when I started asking why he needed so much information just cancel he got threatening. I asked for his name, and since he kept making a big deal of the fact he was a licensed agent who had to be fingerprinted, his license number - of course he didn't want to give out his data to "a deranged" person. I finally hung up on him and sent a cancellation email, so I still don't know if I'm effectively cancelled or not. Be VERY careful with these guys. read more
