Overpriced, over structured, too many requirements (to discontinue coverage). Given the experience noted above, I'm certainly glad I didn't have to file any claim (for loss). read more

I moved out of my apartment in January but was still being charged through March. Had to cancel my credit card and get a new one because they wouldn't stop charging me. I emailed, no answer. I called their main number, and was on hold for hours. Their website doesn't recognize my policy number so it won't let you log in, so there's no way to cancel online. Shame on my apartment complex for recommending them. Got an email about my card not working and to call the number (877) 380-8715 to give payment. I bet they'd answer that number pretty quick if someone is here looking to cancel. read more

Tried calling their customer support to cancel my policy, but for some reason the call always gets dropped. I also can't cancel my policy online either. These two red flags make this company very suspicious. read more

Called eRenterPlan to renew my policy and the service rep was really rude and hung up on me. She didn't explain my policy well and kept asking me with condescending tone "do you understand?" mmmmmm NO!!! horrible customer service rep. She was by far the worst CSR I have ever encountered...

Quick, easy to navigate process. Recommended - so far. I reserve my fifth star until the end of the policy. I hope I won't have to do a downward revision at the end of the policy. But, for the time being, innocent until proven guilty. -- read more

hey fuck you all. A customer service guy just hung up on me for no reason. Also it took forever to wait on the line if you have questions about your insurance. Once I select the option for requesting a new quote, they picked up their phone immediately. What a fucking joke. Fucking shitass company. I waited for fucking 20+ mins, he just hung up on me and I need to wait 20+ mins again. read more

The customer service phone number never works. I had opted for quarterly payments for my insurance. Just before start of next quarter, I received an email stating that the amount would be "automatically" deducted from my bank account which I had authorized earlier, however, the amount was never deducted and my policy was cancelled. I had to purchase a new one after that. read more

eRenterPlan- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They charge you when you no longer have a policy. I received conflicting emails and letters. I attempted to contact eRenterPlan at the number on the email numerous times by phone. The same message is always on... We have a high volume, wait is approximately 10-15 minutes. Sometimes, I would be on hold for several hours before I would hang up. I have left messages. They did not respond. Their answering service goes around and around and I cannot get a live person on the phone. I contacted American Modern Home Insurance Company, the underwriter of the policy. They cannot assist. I have disputed the charge with my bank. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I did some research... I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They're alright. It was really easy to request a quote and set up a policy when I moved into my first apartment. However, their premium is way too expensive - you're better off switching to AAA, Geico, or State Farm to get a cheaper payment. I just submitted my cancellation earlier today, so here's to hoping that it is successfully processed. I tried to call their contact number but was told to try again at a later time... sorry but if you have a call center, you should be available to accept the call no matter what time. Disappointed that I wasn't able to get in contact with a rep because I do have a question that isn't answered on their online FAQ. read more

I know everyone hates a good review among a sea of terrible ones, but I have to be fair. I generally hate every insurance company; I feel that most are eager to collect your money, and you're lucky if they settle for even a fraction of the value to repair or replace your items. I paid $12000 to Geico over the last decade in car insurance, never made a single claim, and they cancelled me because they found out I was an Uber driver. Agreed, I was in violation of their policy, but still, not much loyalty to their customers, or Marine vets. I figured if I ever had to make an insurance claim for property damage with eRenterPlan that it would be a nightmare. But it wasn't...at all... About a month ago, a steam pipe broke in the ceiling over my bedroom. It happened while I was sleeping, so I didn't notice until I woke up and my computer and desk were completely soaked and my bed had taken on probably 5 gallons of water. In all, about $9k of stuff was damaged. I was compensated for nearly the entire amount. And had I chosen to replace all of my damaged items, I would have been compensated for the entire amount. It's also fair to mention that depending on where you live in the country, your plan will be underwritten by a different company. I live in San Diego, and the company that underwrote my policy was American Modern Insurance Company. And it seriously was painless. It took about 2 weeks for the initial check to come. I replaced most of my stuff, sent copies of my invoices, and my agent sent the next check for the depreciation value out that same day, along with a supplemental payment for other items that had been damaged but not claimed. All I was thinking when I woke up and my bed was soaked was, "I didn't pee, right?" And then I immediately thought, "Oh God, I hope I've still been paying my insurance policy!" And I'm so glad that I have been. Get renters insurance, it's like $12 a month....I've been paying it for 3 years. That's $432. I just had $9000 worth of stuff replaced. It's worth it. I haven't had a bed this comfortable in years. And lastly, I'm sure you're thinking that I have a bright future in insurance sales. I assure you, that is not the case. Look up my other reviews...none of them are good. This is my first good Yelp review, probably with many more to follow. I can't be only coming on here to lambaste companies that I hate. read more

They should honestly allow you to put 0 stars. Do not get involved with this crooked company. They are the absolute worst. I moved out of an apt at Inwood West in Woburn mass, 13months after I left the apt I realized they were still billing me monthly. When I called they refused to give me my money back as they had not received a "written statement". That is complete bulls and they charged me over $300 after leaving. You can't tell me they don't require apt numbers when applying and had no idea they were charging two customers for the same apartment. I would stay far away from this rental company and inwood West as well for backing them. read more

Worst company I've ever encountered!! Called to make an unemployment claim and they said I wasn't eligible because I'm an independent contractor?! Although they take independent contractor money out of my bank account every month for this bullshit plan! Never in life will I ever do business with them again! There is definitely a reason why they have 1.5 stars on yelp! Buyers beware ! I read reviews before I purchased my plan and like an idiot I still purchased even though I had saw they were a horrible company ! Please don't make the same mistake I did ! read more

It is the company suggested by my current apartment complex. The price is reasonable, and the times I've had to call Customer Service have been few and pleasant. If any changes need to be to the policy's coverage, they have to cancel the current policy and start a new one. That's unusual, but works fine for me. They refund the proportional part of the previous policy in a few days. read more

DO NOT get insurance from this company! Ever! Extraordinarily terrible service. Their website has been broken for over a year (including functionality to log into your account or reset your password). Their rates are higher than other services (I've now switched to esurance at almost $100 less / year). After a year of terrible service, I called to cancel my plan. The CS representative that I finally got ahold of (it took multiple calls to even get through) informed me that the plan would be cancelled and no further charges would be applied to my card. I made sure to ask the CS rep "So you're 100% sure that I have successfully cancelled my plan and will no longer be billed at all from this date onward?", to which he replied "yes sir, your plan is entirely cancelled, you will no longer be charged.". Well guess what, a month went by, and I got an email from eRenterPlan stating my card was about to automatically be re-billed "on or around the 3rd of March" (on or around?). I replied to the email as there was no text in the email stating that a reply shouldn't be sent to that email, and a day later I received a response containing a large series of error messages sent from their server. Myself being a computer programmer professionally, I was astounded that this occurred as automated email systems are extremely simple to setup. So I tried calling them to sort it out. After being on hold for more than 10 minutes, I got through to a CS representative. I told the rep that I had cancelled my service and received an email stating I was going to be rebilled. His response? "Hold on a moment while I transfer you to an agent to cancel your plan.", at which point he switched me back on hold before I could respond. I remained on hold listening to extremely dated elevator music for the next 10 minutes until I finally got someone on the other line. Their reasoning for the email I received was "the system doesn't know your credit card has been removed so it just automatically sent you that email. You won't be re-billed.". Well, great, I won't be re-billed, but the tech supporting your system isn't smart enough to do a simple query to determine which accounts need to receive a rebil notification email, your website is down constantly, and your email service dumps error messages in responses? That sure gives me a lot of confidence in the fact that you're telling me the system will "work as intended". If I do get re-billed I will be filing a complain with the better business bureau and another review on here. Hopefully my terrible experience can save someone else a lot of hassle. read more

I've used eRenterPlan insurance for over 2 years now. I didn't have a problem until I went to try and cancel, and until I spoke to other insurance companies about their prices (but I'll put the blame for that on myself). Explain to me how I can 1.) change anything about my policy ONLINE 2.) click the button to cancel my plan and put in a forwarding address ONLINE BUT, I can't seem to actually CANCEL my policy ONLINE! I went 2 days thinking that cancelling my policy online had worked... NO! They make you call and they don't even have 24/7 phone services. Like many others I was forced into the scam that is "renter's insurance" by my apartment complex. Everything seemed to be going fine until about 2 months in, when my apartment complex started posting notices on my door that they were told by eRenterPlan that my insurance policy was cancelled and that my complex was going to evict me if I did not get a new insurance plan. Though when I checked my bank account to see if they were debiting my account I found that not only were they debiting my account, they even had the nerve to double bill my current month and then say my account was cancelled. So I tried logging onto eRenterPlan's website to see what was going on, but every single time I copied and pasted my login info from the confirmation email they sent when I signed up, every single time it said that I did not have an account with them. When I called eRenterPlan to resolve this problem, the lady who answered the phone asked for all my account info and I gave her everything they had sent me and she still couldn't seem to find it for 15 minutes. Finally after pulling up my account she noticed that the reason they were "cancelling" my account was because they tried billing my account ONCE for the current billing cycle and just said "screw it" after it declined. She then proceeded to berate me for not having enough money in my account, and even after I explained that it was a banking problem and would be rectified within the week (my debit card was stolen) she still said that "it's not MY problem you can't pay your bills SIR" (caps indicate that extremeley snooty tone that makes you want to strangle someone through the phone). I proceeded to ask her why they just didn't use the 1 month credit I SHOULD have on the account from them double billing me, to which she replied that I have no such credit. I told her about the double billing, told her I have the bank records to prove it, and then she went right on to flat out call me a liar even though I was looking at the charge on my bank's website right at that very moment. Livid at this point I demanded to speak to a manager, to which she refused. Asked for a name, again a refusal... Seems like Bert & I might've dealt with the same lady... This is by far the worse company I have ever dealt with. While the monthly fee was reasonable, when it came time to file a claim. I had the worst experience ever. The claims process was terrible. My family loss power because our transformer was hit by lightening. Because there was a part that had to be sent for and took a number of days to get, we needed to get into a hotel right away, besides it was August. We called twice and was told someone would call us. We waited overnight and heard nothing. The next day we called and was told someone should be contacting us. In the meantime we checked into a local hotel less than 2 miles from our home. The Hyatt Place Hotel a nice, reasonably priced hotel. Finally after being in the hotel for two days the agent called us and became very ugly on the phone when we told him we checked into the Hyatt. He said, that's not approved. I was outraged! Because he didn't take into consideration that we paid for this ourselves and had been going on three days since we heard from anyone. So, then he said, someone else would be calling me back to see what hotel I can stay in cause he didn't approve the Hyatt. Mine you....this hotel is less then two miles from our home and is moderately priced. When I asked the Agent to explain the process to me, he couldn't. He really came across very unprofessional. When his office that handles booking hotels called me, the woman said, oh yeah we place people at that hotel and she knew the Hotel Managers first name. When the Agent called back he wanted to know what hotel we had been placed in. I explained we were still at the Hyatt and he actually became noticeably upset. I explained that this hotel had been used by his office in the past. He then only gave approval for us to stay at the hotel two days at a time. The Hotel Manager and I called because I had provided written proof that our power would not be back on for at least a week. The agent finally gave approval for our stay. In the end, we were back home 10 days later. I provided all the documentation to the Agent in late October after going back and forth with him. I waited and waiting and heard nothing. I called and emailed and finally in early March, that's right MARCH, I was able to get my check and the Agent was still asking for more information, but could not explain why he needed it. Once the check cleared the bank, I went on their website and cancelled my policy. I also left my review, which is not showing on their website. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE WORST! NOW! LET ME TELL YOU THE LATEST! Today, my bank account had a withdrawal from this insurance company for a payment FIVE TIMES the amount of the monthly policy charge. Remember I cancelled my account back in March. So, I called there today and was told that they are having problems with their billing system and that I am not the first that this has happened too. I was also told that my account was never cancelled. But this seems to be an on-going problem from what some of the other reviewers have posted for a number of months. This is AWFUL!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

I hate this company. I called in to eRenterPlan to dispute a charge they made to my credit card. I moved away in August and was still charged for the month of September, despite them sending me a notification of cancellation in the mail. First call: one person very obviously picked up (I was able to hear the background noises and conversations) and promptly hung up. Second call: The CSR put me on hold for what he said would be "2 minutes of silence." I waited for 30 minutes and realized that he literally left the phone on and left -- when I called back in again, the phone system responded that they were closed. The online website yielded worse results, I am unable to log in at all to view my account information.
