I have been getting "urgent" spam emails from this company, pretending to be my apartment leasing office. They are claiming I do not have renters' insurance when I have confirmed with my leasing office that I do. It's pretty obvious that they REALLY want me to buy my insurance plan from them and when I look at the email's sender, it has come directly from eRenterPlan, NOT my leasing office. So stop it! read more

They fraudulently auto charge me when I already moved out and make it very difficult to get my money back. Really messed up

My mistake. I bought a policy then saw the 1.7 star review. I called and the automated system gave me the option of cancelling the policy. However, when I pressed the appropriate button to cancel, the system hung up on me. Three times! There is no way I trust the company to be able to handle a future claim I might have. Why do apartment complexes suggest companies that seem sketchy? read more

I'm moving to a rented townhouse in Pennsylvania where the complex requires renter's insurance. I have no problem at all with that requirement. I carry renter's insurance even where it is not required. It's just a good idea. The complex claims you can use any insurance carrier, so I went ahead and bought and paid for a policy using my current insurance company, meeting or exceeding (so I thought) the requirements of the complex as they had been communicated to me. Yesterday, I received an automated email from erenterplan saying my policy was rejected because the interested party was not some PO Box in Texas that I had never seen before. As instructed by the complex, I put the leasing company as an interested party. Apparently this was wrong. They also claim the insured property address is wrong. I will be renting a townhouse, and as far as I know, the street address fully and completely describes the property to be insured. The website given to correct these issues pushes HARD for you to buy a policy from eRenterPlan. The options to use your own insurance policy are well hidden, but can still be found. Additionally, I have been getting daily advertising emails from eRenterPlan ever since I signed the lease. I have been both a renter and a homeowner and have had insurance policies covering everywhere I've lived. I have never heard of eRenterPlan. It does not appear to be a division of or even backed by any of the major insurance companies you've heard of like Liberty, Erie, GEICO, State Farm, et cetera. So, no thank you, I'm not going to buy a policy from some fly-by-night insurance company for which my complex is going to get some kickback. What if, God forbid, I have to file a claim on my policy? I'm going to put my own policy in place, thank you very much. This whole company seems very scammy in nature and, surprising absolutely no one, I discovered they have an abysmal rating here on Yelp. I don't like that the insurance verification process for my complex is run through eRenterPlan. That seems to be a very BIG conflict of interest in my book. ERenterPlan and my complex ought to be ashamed of themselves here. It seriously appears as if they ran my declarations page through some OCR scanner and a poorly trained AI/ML model and no human being ever actually saw it. I don't need to buy a policy from eRenterPlan to know that I never want to. The "additional insured/additional interested party" requirement is also fishy. The landlord/property owner ought to be covered under their own master landlord's policy for the entire complex - not under the hundreds of policies of individual tenants! My complex's ability/requirement to be able to make a claim against MY renter's insurance policy REALLY rubs me the wrong way. read more

I'm beyond frustrated with the way your company handles claims. As a renter, I'm required to carry coverage through NOW, yet when I needed to file what I believed to be a straightforward claim, I was met with delays, pushback, and poor communication. When the storm hit my home and my refrigerator went out, I expected help in days, not weeks of fighting just to be taken seriously. I gave up, which is what you expected. The experience has been exhausting and completely unacceptable. You're quick to take payments, but when it comes time to actually provide support, it's suddenly an uphill battle. Frankly, I'm done. I can't wait for my new home to be ready so I can cancel this coverage and never deal with your company again. Disappointed and Angry, Ms. Joe Bacon read more

I have not lived in the apartment tied to this company since roughly December 2023. I saw my card has still been getting charged although I have attempted multiple times to have the charges stopped. I attempted calling the number as stated on the website, but it either hangs up after I click to cancel the charges, or it says they're closed and to call back later. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops not only to have my card stopped being charged, but also to get a refund. This is unacceptable to be getting charged over $90 every few months for a service I'm not receiving. Not only that, I tried to login multiple time on the website but it says no account found with my information. How is that possible? This is a scam. Someone please get in contact with me to rectify this situation through cancelling upcoming charges and refunding the charges since I moved out of the apartment. read more

I have been trying to cancel my insurance with this company for two years, saying the only way to cancel is by calling and no one answers the phone. They have a "press 1" for an agent to call back and they have never called back. I've cumulatively spent nearly a day on hold by now. I've now been charged over $400 for services I'm not utilizing. read more

erenterplan.com, have fraudulently and without authorization charged my credit card three separate times -- on 5/9/2023, 4/25/2024, and 4/25/2025 -- each for $248, totaling $744. I purchased a renter's insurance policy from them in 2018, which I formally canceled on 2/13/2019. I have written confirmation of the cancellation. At no point did I renew, reactivate, or authorize any future charges. To make matters worse, the credit card I originally used expired long ago, and I never provided updated payment information. Yet, they somehow accessed my new card without my permission, raising serious concerns about how they are storing, sharing, or misusing customer financial information. This company's actions amount to theft -- unauthorized access, fraudulent charges, and abuse of sensitive financial data. Their practices are deceptive, unethical, and possibly illegal. I'm all for the class action lawsuit against this shady company. read more

I contacted erenter in December 2023 when I chose to rent an apartment in San Diego and the apartment community recommended them for my insurance needs. I'd always used Allstate before, but having it combined with the apartment all in one bundle, made it easy to sign up. I let them know the dates of my complete lease so they would cover me fully. They assured me it was not a problem. Fast-forward to me being in the apartment 13 months and finding out they canceled the policy a month earlier than my lease end date , and didn't even start the policy until the month after I moved in. They charged me that full amount of 13 months but only covered me for 10 months. Then they started sending me notices to let me know I was not covered for the remainder of my lease and I should sign up again. If I responded to the notices, I was told the mailbox was not monitored. Under NO circumstances should you do business with this firm. read more

this company is extremely fraudulent. I am deeply disturbed how I was treated on the phone by the representative. Apparently they are having an issue with "their system" in the state of Maryland and I have been being charged DOUBLE what I pay for Months only to be told i might not be able to receive my refund. I had to spend my Sunday on the phone with them having my lease re-written only to be disconnected in the middle of the call with no call back. UNREAL had I not noticed they essentially stole money from me. read more

Worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Customer service is non-existent, and you have to spend hours on hold just for them to instantly hang up on you. Clearly more scam than company. read more

Horrible, horrible company and customer service. The automated voice purposefully misunderstood me, and they went ahead and charged for another month even though I was asking to cancel and get a refund. Now I'm owed two refunds, one for the previous cancelled month and the month they accidentally charged me. Do NOT use erenterplan, go with any other insurance company and they will likely be much better. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST company to work with that if I could give 0 stars I would, avoid at ALL costs!! My tires/rims were stolen off MY property which you think renter's insurance would be of ANY help at all - false! First & foremost, I couldn't get a hold of ANYONE for 2 days even with repeated calls. When I FINALLY got someone on the line, Bailey had told me that my adjuster would be a woman named Lisa. Lisa was an absolute HEADACHE to get a hold of. Besides being completely unaware of being my adjuster for my case, she did not know ANY policy related information. She was very condescending & repeatedly kept saying "let me make it clear" before every statement which was so frustrating. She said she would look into the case further and would call be back the next day. Next day comes, NOTHING - no call back, no email, no type of communication like she said she would. So I decided to reach out again via phone because the website kept saying I was unable to log in with my email and policy number at that. I spoke with supervisor Steve who ended up being just as bad - monotoned and kept saying "you are not covered" with no knowledge or explanation of why I wasn't even when I asked MULTIPLE times. I was passed around to THREE different reps & it took 3 days for my so called "adjuster" to contact me back without even being useful!! The case still has NOT been resolved or documents that I've requested still have not been sent to me - it's been almost over a week!! A WHOLE NIGHTMARE AND A HALF, go with another insurance place if you could!! read more

I was being charged 15 days in advance of my effective coverage date (27th of the month)...My card could not be charged on the exact date (12th) but instead on the 13th. On the 21st I got a cancellation notice dated on the 14th. I called to request an explanation on this, and the worst customer service representative I have ever dealt with in my life even told me that he could cancel my policy if I wanted to. Which of course I proceeded to do myself in the website. Keep hiring those great customer service people eRenter -way to go- (name is Ed in case you had the "luck" to deal with him). read more

It has been a couple of years since I last heard from this company, until today. They send you an email stating that you have no renters insurance and that you are out of compliance with your lease. My current insurance is with a major insurance company, and the apartment management company is listed on the policy as an additional interest. That means they get a copy of my policy whenever I renew or cancel. I think the way this works is that the management company gets a commission if I sign up for the eRenterPlan. As so many, they RIPPED ME OFF. I filled out an application at a perspective apartment building but never rented there. I got the confirmation from that building they asked for (NEVER lived there) yet they refuse to give me my money back. Blatant and now knowing dishonesty. This company has some of the worst customer service that I've encountered. I've worked in the real estate industry & for years have recommended eRenterplan.com to people that needed renters insurance ASAP. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM AGAIN. Here's the situation, I was moving into a new apartment & thought I would sign up with erenter, to make things easy. When selecting my policy, they offered additional coverage for "pet damage", for an additional monthly fee. The coverage covered if your pet damages the carpet, walls, & a few other scenarios, up to $500. I decided that, since I had a young puppy, this would be ideal, especially since my deductible was $500, I could use the pet damage coverage to take care of anything under $500, what I would have needed to pay if I didn't elect for the additional pet damage coverage. I transferred into a different apartment, in the same building, when my lease was up & did have some damages to my carpet from my puppy, so I called Erenter. I was transferred to 4 different people who said "they could not access my coverage or policy and could not answer any questions regarding specifics". When I finally got an answer (nearly 45 minutes after being on the phone), I was told that they would need to file a claim, which could go against my future rates, during underwriting, & that I would have to pay my $500 deductible, even though I paid extra towards my policy, each month, to avoid this. When I mentioned that the website indicated that electing for the additional pet damage coverage, at an additional cost, it gave the impression that the pet damage coverage would not require me to pay the deductible. I then mentioned that I would have not purchased $500 worth of pet damage coverage, for an additional cost each month, if I still had to pay a $500 deductible in order to use it. The representative (#4) said she understood & knew that the website and sign up process showed the information in a way that was misleading & that it was clarified in the policy (that is mailed 10 days later) and is so many pages, most people wouldn't ready all the way through it. Basically, & have a $500 deductible for claims, I was tricked into paying more each month for $500 worth of coverage for my pet, and given the impression that, if I needed to use it, it wouldn't require my deductible to be paid, that is not the case. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE ERENTERPLAN.COM read more

I called four business days before my plan's renew date to cancel this plan. The gentleman who answered my phone promised me that he would help me cancel it. But I was still charged one week later. The worst. I emailed them. No response. Filled out an online inquiry. & the responded over a week later just to tell me to call a number. I called and was on hold for 10 minutes. I wanted to change my start date and they said I had to cancel and they would mail me a refund which would take a few weeks, and then they would charge me for the new policy. Michelle said I would get confirmation via e-mail the following day. To my surprise I received my confirmation e-mail this evening. I'm thankful I have documentation that my coverage will end, but it was a hassle as I had to call multiple times. I am very dissatisfied with the service and attitude. I paid this company for 2 years for the insurance of the apartment where I live and still living. Regarding the theft from my storage from the safe and secure apartment building , I applied and waited for half a year with no any single notification from them. After I tried to contact the company several times via customer support phone number / email, but unfortunately I lost a lot of time waiting on a call, and every time after I waited on the phone for about an hour or more, they told me that the agents were very busy and asked me to leave a contact number so that they would contact me later. But alas, not looking at the fact that I left my number several times, no one called me. I decided to wait until the end of the contract in the hope that someone will contact me. So it all happened as i expected, because of the end of the contract, they began to write to me and call me many times, but they didn't answer me about the claim, and they said like they from the sales department and can't help me with this. They inexplicably cancelled my policy after I had paid the premium for one year, so I switched to a different insurer. eRenterPlan held on to my money for months - I had to dispute the charge to get it refunded. After I did that, they started sending me numerous messages notifying me that they were about to cancel my policy (the one they had cancelled months ago). They then "cancelled" my policy a second time, and sent a notice of cancellation to my landlord, making my landlord think I was no longer carrying renter's insurance required by my lease. This all struck me as a CYA move to try and justify retaining the premium that they should have refunded me months ago. Very shady. read more
