At about 315 pm on February 24 2025 I came in and purchased items. The cashier with dark hair is extremely rude. Beyond rude. A gentlemen of about 90 years plus age walked in with a bag. Very polite. Asked her If he can turn something in he found. He could barely walk. Has a veteran thing on and that ride cashier told him to GO TO THE BACK of the line ! Are you effing kidding me ??? I love coming to Erb's and am always so grateful for the awesome help Jeremy's team offers when I've been sent for one item that will be in the screws or bolts by my hubby. There is such a huge assortment of fun gift items, grilling goodies, and old fashioned candy that I always end up with a bit more than I was sent for, for sure! If you haven't been to Erb's ace hardware, you are missing out! Not only do they have things for your home projects, they have gardening supplies, perfect items for grilling, patio and gits for that sometimes hard to shop for person. Their prices are competitive and their customer service makes up for the slightly higher then the box stores. read more

Our local Ace Erb Hardware is a fantastic place to shop. They have all the house and hardware stuff one may need, but so many other little things like candy, decor, and gardening stuff. Its a great place for BBQ and patio finds too. I have ordered online and had items shipped to the store if it didn't have it in at the time, or regularly stock it. They are always a first stop on our shopping trip for anything household, patio, bbq, or hardware related. The most impressive part is the amazing ABOVE AND BEYOND customer service you can count on at the store. It's great that they are locally owned because they are always on the give back by supporting the community. They even let high school students come and intern to learn work skills. Big box stores can't and won't let us do that usually because corporate won't let them! Locally owned, locally minded, local support! We always go to Erb first and when we can't find what we need there (rare) then and only then do we head to the Home Depot. The reason? Service. These people go above and beyond and they appreciate your business and let you know it. Plus, Ace does a rewards deal that really does pay you to shop there. But mainly, it's like an old-fashioned hardware store like you probably went to as a kid, even down to the popcorn. We like to shop local and Erb makes that very easy! read more

Not so much Erb's fault as U-Haul's, but there's a new policy as of about a year and a half ago. It's always been and yet is with rental cars, return the vehicle with a full tank. U-Haul's new policy is return it with the same amount of gas that you took it with. I didn't read the fine print and returned it with an extra $40 worth of gas. U-Haul will not refund me that money. Yes, I should have read the contract. But if an obvious honest mistake is made, take care of your customer. So it seems to me. read more

I haven't been to Lewiston's Ace hardware for almost 5 years. I called before arriving to ask if they would replace screens in window frames. The man on the phone said he thought so. I bring in my screen to have it repaired and no one can seem to figure out the process for me to drop it off. Finally I just left the screen and my name and number and told them to call me with a quote. It was finished that day which was impressive. I come in the next morning to pick it up after having received a phone call to retrieve it, and was told it wouldn't be ready yet since I just brought it in yesterday. I then tell the woman I had a call and she still said no. Plus the fact when I walked in, there were 4 employees standing there staring at me and not one of them greeted me or smiled. Finally I received my screen. She just said "10.35" and that was it. No thank you have a nice day, or sorry about the confusion. Your store may have the best price, but I will pay extra to go elsewhere just for any amount of customer service. read more

I recently had an unfortunate dealing with Erb's Ace Hardware and through them U-haul. At the end of Aug my son's car broke down and I had to rent a car dolly to get it home so I went to Erb's. An employee installed the dolly trailer, I finished up the paperwork and went to deal with the task of getting my son's car home. As I did the rental paperwork the gentleman that installed the trailer and the gentleman that would later claim he double checked the trailer stood in the lobby visiting with some other coworkers and wished me a good afternoon as I went out. The car I had to pick up was not running so I had to push it up on to the trailer and on the second attempt the trailer came unhitched from my vehicle, broke my back window and after hitting several other places causing damage lodged into the back hatch door. I was VERY lucky that I was not badly hurt. After I removed the trailer from being lodged in the back of my rig and back on the ball of my hitch I realized that the employee had not tightened the hand tightening system on the trailer.I installed the trailer correctly and was able to get the car home and the trailer back to Erb's without any other problems. Once tightened the hand tightening system worked perfectly. I informed Erb's of the damage and started by dealing with uhaul's insurance. I got an estimate and In the end the trailer had done over $3,000 dollars worth of damage to my rig. Uhaul's insurance company rep west has been a joke to deal with. Not one single time have I called and gotten someone on the phone and after giving my claim information never spoke to anyone again until I got a letter denying my claim "after investigation" . Mind you they do not have a representative in our area so no one saw my vehical in person or talked to any of the em[ployee's in person. It has now been over a month since the damage to the rig that I transport my kids in was damaged and despite working on it daily no one will step up to the plate and take responsibility for the damage. U-haul's insurance doesn't want to pay because it was Erb's employee that installed the trailer wrong, Erb's won't provide me with their insurance information, and while the manager Jeremy has been nothing but helpful the owner Brett Toney will not even return my call's and discuss the matter. Everyone is always encouraged to "buy valley" but if this is the service that is offered I will take my business elsewhere in the future. That is if I can get my rig fixed to drive there. read more
