My wife and I both enjoyed the Pyre - which was the special of the day - DELICIOUS . The smoked turkey, bacon, smoked gouda, arugula, their signature campfire sauce, all on a grilled rosemary panini - when I tell you this sandwich means business, it truly slaps. We also tried the Nordic Potato Salad, which was equally as tasty, had a lot of herbaceous flavors with perfectly cooked pillowy potatoes. He told me back then that someday we needed to check out J&J's. We love small business, local, non-chain restaurants. I decided to surprise my husband and take him to J&J's for Father's Day. We are empty nesters, so it was just the two of us for lunch. We arrived just after 12 p.m. There was a line out the door, which we expected since it was Father's Day and Sunday lunchtime. We were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, which we had no issue with. We ended up waiting less than 10 minutes because there was a table available on the patio. The weather was beautiful, and with summer being so short in Minnesota, we like to take advantage of it whenever we can. Our server came to our table shortly after we were seated, but it was long enough that we both had time to decide what we wanted before she arrived. I ordered the Texas Philly, and my husband had the brisket sandwich. We had to wait a while for our food, which we understood given how busy the restaurant was. Others around us were complaining about the wait, and those tables had a different server who was very apologetic about the kitchen being backed up. The hand-cut fries were piping hot and seasoned perfectly. It's so rare to go out to eat and get hot fries, let alone fries that are piping hot. That alone was worth the wait! My husband loved the brisket sandwich, and the Texas Philly was SO good--piled full of meat. We live in the south metro, but it was well worth the 30+ minute drive to get there. We'll definitely be back and will absolutely recommend J&J's to others!

Both times my sandwich was made by a taller guy with side burns and the attempt at growing a beard. To this he said "I am not comfortable giving to you!" Unbelievable that this owner would allow him to work in his or her restaurant. Last time I was in got my sandwich and it was pretty dry so I asked for extra mayo. He said there is light mayo on there. I simply asked for extra mayo. He said he can't give me any. I then looked for a packet of mayo to which he said "If you are looking for mayo we are out!' I decided to let it go and eat my dry sandwich and figured he is just having a bad day. Today I was in and the same "gentleman" was making sandwiches. I was ordering from a different guy and ordered #7 again and asked for extra mayo now knowing it comes with light mayo. With an immediate negative attitude he interrupted me to say it comes with mayo. I said i realize that but want extra mayo. I continued ordering from the cashier and ordered extra hot peppers. When I received my sandwich I didn't see many if any at all hot peppers so I walked up and asked for extra peppers, again from somebody else behind the counter. He interrupted again to say "#7 comes with light peppers!" I commented back "that is why I asked for extra peppers." This human being should not interact with people in any job at all!!!!
