The first problem is that clothes would not fit in the upper right hand section (as you can see by my photo). The second problem was the crooked drawers. Ernesto came back to look at it and said he would fix it -- but he blamed the crooked drawers on poor manufacturing. I called and texted multiple times, but Ernesto stopped returning my calls. I wound up taking the whole thing apart and as I did, I found more errors -- instead of using the cam nuts and bolts, he used 3" screws, unnecessarily; multiple drill holes as he attempted to line things up, etc. I followed the instructions step by step and re-assembled the closet organizer - and low and behold, the drawers were NOT crooked and the center tower hung straight, and most importantly -- CLOTHES FIT and hung perfectly in the upper right section. People complain that contractors are terrible with communication - Mike responded promptly and only during non-business hours because when he is working on a job, he is not answering phone calls or emails. He is very efficient and honest about the job. The job actually took less time than expected and he didn't even attempt to overcharge or charge a minimum fee. He did a beautiful job on our door. He did not leave a trace - no messy stuff left behind, no cleaning necessary, mindful not to scuff walls/respectful of property. He is very polite and reasonably priced. I will not hesitate in calling Mike again.

CAC workers were on time and showed up reliably, which was helpful. The front and back of slab were plumb, no issues - but the left and right sides were not square as measured using the 3-4-5 square method, creating a problem for tile work. The discrepancy was enough to delay tile install by another contractor. It had to be made right or the tile surface would have been uneven and unattractive. When asked to inspect his work product and make it right, the owner Carlos responded that his measurements were perfect and he had made no mistakes. What could have been resolved with action and accuracy instead led us to hire someone we trust (a different yelp-verified business) who squared the slab and lumpy surround expertly. Their work wasn't bad but the part that wasn't good was mishandled with a closed attitude, unpleasant communication and delays. Finally we recovered $300 of the $450 we incurred to fix the surface and get on with tiling. But not without stress or dramatics. C A C Masonry owner used pressure tactics to get me to remove my factual review, and when I sent his text to Yelp Business, they encouraged me to repost. Their message in photos. If you hire them, do it by the book. contract, communication and course-correct as needed on the spot. Pay attention!

I hired City Renovations & Remodeling for a bathroom remodel last summer 2020. Michael Wiggs,…read moreowner/project manager, was assigned to my project and he was/is extremely unprofessional, nothing was on time, disrespectful behavior towards myself during disagreements and provided horrible customer service throughout the entire project. I would not highly recommend working with him and in fact if you've already received services from him please seek legal counsel. The contract I signed stated that this business is LICENSED, BONDED and INSURED in DC, which it is not. The license provided on my contract expired in 2006 per DCRA website. This inaccurate information is fraud. Michael Wiggs consistently reneged on many of the contract terms which were previously negotiated at the time I signed the contract. My contract was signed May 15,2020. The contract stated the projected start date was June 22, 2020. Work did not begin until August 10th and a new contract was not created. In addition, the contract's projected duration of the project was 2 weeks, weather permitting. My project was not completed until November 11th (4 months for a small bathroom remodel). In my opinion this was due to Mr. Wiggs poor project management. The first 6 weeks of the project I was out of my Condo because this is my only bathroom and the financial hardships placed on me at a time when COVID-19 was shutting down the DC area put a ton of stress on me. I was paying for living arrangements I could not utilize and I did not budget to be gone for the amount of time I had to be. I never received any compensation for this failure of Michael Wiggs to maintain the project timeline. When I returned to my unit I only had a toilet. There was no vanity, sink, or shower installed. One of my allotments was pocketed without a service or product being given. The contract mapped out 6 disbursements of money. However, once the project was almost half way through I was told by my contractor they could only withdraw 2 times from my loan and we needed to withdraw asap before my money was gone. Lastly, in the contract under "items not included" permit cost was stated, but within my line items permit was listed at a cost of $0. I eventually had to have DCRA close out my permits because he refused to close them out. There was always consistent miscommunication and lack of accountability from Michael Wiggs business, every issue was met with contempt instead of trying to find a solution. After all of this occurred, Michael Wiggs attempted to bully me by having a lawyer, Perry L. Foreman Jr., reach out to me to settle in the amount of $1,080.77 or they would move to sue me to obtain what they believe is what they are owed. Please understand as a consumer an unlicensed business cannot sue you in a jurisdiction that they aren't licensed. That's literally the purpose of the license so that the business can be protected by local laws. I did not give in to this tactic and instead I reached out to DCRA and the Consumer Protection Agency. Both of these local government offices have been extremely disappointing because they act as if they can't take action on the exact situations they were established to perform. The intentions of this review are to make all consumers aware of his business practices, understand local government offices will not be of any assistance and the best way to resolve these issues is to not get involved with them. When looking for a contractor please contact a property management company for a referral or obtain a referral from a trusted family member/friend. Make sure to obtain a business license, business insurance and scope of work from all contractors.

They painted the whole house and and repaired a part of the foundation that had been destroyed during the recent earthquake. The quality of the work was fantastic and I have no complaints. Mike is very good at design and I was able to implement some design elements that I would never have considered without his help. I highly recommend this company for high end home renovations.
