My family had multiple negative experiences with this "company" while they were our mortgage…read morelender. They threatened us within the first month of us being with them. They repeatedly would tell us they would fix something only for it to not be fixed. One specific instance with them happened in the last year plus. When we refinanced our mortgage, the title company sent in the wire transfer for the payoff. We received the receipts confirming the wire transfer was sent and everything was fine. A few days later Essex was telling us a different story. They claimed the payoff was sent in late and was not processed until a few days later into the next month. We find out about this a week later via our bank's credit report alerts. When we called Essex to find out what happened, they claimed multiple things. We didn't send in the payment on time, the title company messed up, and finally our payment was flagged for "domestic terrorism." Each of these claims were easily disputed with facts and receipts, except the domestic terrorism claim. It took us a year to finally get in contact with the government agencies to dispute this one. Each claim Essex made was false and ultimately a lie. The government agencies laughed and said that Essex's claim was bogus. Essex was ultimately trying to cover up a mistake they had made before a holiday weekend. Upon Essex, and the government, confirming our payment was submitted on time, Essex claimed to submit a manual credit fix on their end and told me they would fix it. They did not. 2 months later, I called again to get them to fix this and they claimed it would be fixed at the beginning of the next month. It was not. In the 2-3 years we had Essex, it was filled with stress, lies, incompetence, and repeatedly blaming us for their mistakes. Believe the negative reviews you hear and question the validity of the positive ones.

While my parents introduced me to a family friend who was a real estate agent, I had no idea how to go about finding a loan officer! After digging through Yelp/Google, I stumbled upon Meridox Mortgage that had stellar reviews and took a chance. I called Meridox and was put in touch with Trung Tran. I let him know that I didn't have any knowledge of how the house-buying process works, but he was incredibly supportive and assured me he would walk me through every step. Shortly after we finished talking on the phone, he sent me a list of items to provide for the pre-approval letter. Trung's turnaround was quick. I sent him my information in the evening and got the letter the next morning. My real estate agent used this letter to draft the offer...it was accepted!
