After last winter, we are getting an early start on refilling the woodshed. When our limbing saw had personal issues starting, we took it in to Ak Specialty Equip for some TLC. I am in my mid 70s and was struggling to use our heavy saw for limbing, After a couple weeks my husband stopped at the shop to check on it. The counter man found my saw in the pile and immediately checked and adjusted it until it was leaping into life on the first pull. And he showed Dick how to tweak it if the saw misbehaved again. Cheerful excellent service and I am grateful to be back in the woods cutting our winter's wood again. Thank you.

Despite submitting the saw for repair on July 26, 2024, they still hadn't repaired or even evaluated it as of November 12th! I NEVER received any contact from them about the issue of delays. Out of frustration and lack of patience, I picked up the saw earlier today, took it to AIH repair center down the street, and received results with a few hours. Alaska Specialty's only explanation for the poor service was the the project had "fallen through the cracks" and admitted they have only one service technician with a backlog of 100's of projects. A much better business plan would have been to accept only as much work as could be completed in a timely manner i.e. less than a month. I am not sure I'll be back.

Avoid This Shop - Poor Communication and Poor Workmanship…read more I brought my Triumph Scrambler 900 in for its 12,000-mile service. Before that, it ran beautifully -- started every time, idled perfectly, and the rear brake worked smoothly. After this service, everything changed for the worse. **Poor Mechanical Work:** My smooth idle turned into rough, sputtering revs between 800-1200 RPM. I was told this would resolve after a 10-minute idle reset -- and it *seemed* to at first, but only because the engine was warm. Once it cooled down, the problem returned. They told me what I wanted to hear rather than fixing the actual issue, and I regret believing them. **Brake Issue:** Within 30 minutes of leaving the shop, my rear brake went from tight and responsive to soft and sloppy. I had to shift my weight on the seat just to push the brake pedal far enough to engage. It didn't completely fail, but the drastic change made me seriously question the quality of their work. **Charged for a Part They Didn't Install:** I was billed $200 for a skid plate I had declined after learning it would require removing the center stand. Only after I caught it, then the charge was it refunded. I'll assume this was poor internal communication, not intentional, but still -- not acceptable. **Delays and Misinformation:** I gave three weeks' notice and called daily leading up to the appointment. They assured me the bike would be serviced promptly, but the day it arrived, they still hadn't ordered the necessary parts. One staff member said the parts were overnighted; another said they were backordered. I never got a straight answer. **Bottom Line:** Whether due to carelessness or poor communication, this shop failed me at nearly every turn. They don't return calls, they don't coordinate internally, and they don't take ownership of problems. To be fair, the staff were generally polite -- but that's not enough when your bike comes back worse than it went in. If you have other options, take them. I wouldn't recommend trusting this shop with your motorcycle.

So you are better off going south to get what you want for the price you want. Just don't expect any warranty service from anyone in Alaska unless you have one of the few brands sold here. Even then, you might get the AK Dealer saying: "sorry, we can't service your trailer/toy hauler/5th wheel or do any warranty work on it since you did not buy it from us. If we do warranty work on it, we expect you to pay for us for it in advance and you try to get reimbursed from the manufacturer". Have your purchase inspected from top to bottom, front to back testing all fixtures, drawers, lights, heat/cooling as part of the PDI (pre-deliver inspection). Don't leave the lot until every item is fixed to your satisfaction.

The RVs are boxed in so tight none of the slide-outs were able to operate. The saleman tried to push us away from the class B transit we wanted to see and showed us used class c's I suppose they needed to sell. He had no floor plans or brochures and he went on Google to look up the RV model from the supplier website and stumbled through the specs - wow lol. The sales manager later told me they emphasize renting so they can't really accommodate people purchasing RVs. They have several RVs that are 2-3 years old and are new with 4000 miles on them - something really weird is going on here with their lack of customer service - this place is nothing like the lower 48 - buyer beware.
