Along the beach

Haley and the other trail guide(so sorry I don't remember her name but both were amazing). Haley was closer to us as we followed her in the beginning of the line. The trail took us threw the woods and some wetlands before getting onto the beach. It was a long ride about 2 hours round trip. The horses were great and it really was a lot of fun. The weather was a little chilly (took the 4:00 ride), so dress accordingly. We all highly recommend this trip and especially the guides we had.

Love Equine Adventures! I have ridden with them several times and their horses are great! They pair you with the horse you need if you're experienced rider or not. The trails are great and the beach is amazing. Cheena and Tonka are my favorites.

We had a really fun time! The guides were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! My horse Maverick was great. He wasn't just a "trail horse" but eager and had a personality. The guides set you up with the perfect horse to suit your riding ability and preference. Riding on the beach was perfect and the experience was memorable. My legs are sore so good workout too! Thank you equine adventures!! Can't wait to do it again.

Easy to ride & beautifully kept horses. The ride was a total of 2.5 hours long. Most the ride was along a trail through forested area ending with a 20 minute ride along the beach before turning back. Several parts involved wading through water and if you're on a shorter horse, plan to pick up your feet. We did go shortly after a big storm/flood so this may not be the norm depending on the season you choose to ride. Zero riding experience is okay! It was my boyfriends first time and it was no problem for him. Pack a water bottle in a fanny pack, it's hot & muggy!

This is a MUST DO while in OBX! I took my grandmother and boyfriend, my grandmother has extensive experience and my boyfriend does not, and they both can't wait to go again. My horse was perfect for me and did amazing while galloping on the beach alongside other horses. The guides were great and got off to took photos of everyone on the beach. From start to finish everyone was so organized! We will be booking every year we go!

This was a great trail ride through the woods leading to the beach. The horses are well trained but fun to ride and run on the beach! The guides were great too! Highly recommend this once in a lifetime experience.

Can't say enough positive things about Equine Adventures!! Liz and Otto were friendly, kind, knowledgable, relaxed, patient, went the extra mile for our group and above all showed everyone a fun and memorable time. Would definitely go back again!!!!! Thank you!!!!

Really great ride! 2 hours through the woods, dunes and then on the beach. I own a horse and ride 5x a week but my sister, brother in law and husband do not get on horses regularly. The ride was great for everyone. We walked thru the trails to the beach and then on the sand we were allowed to spread out and canter if we wanted or stay at a walk, whichever you were more comfortable with. I had a fun little mare that really enjoyed cantering down the beach as did my sisters horse. The men stayed comfy at a walk and all were happy. Very fun and a great way to spend a rather dreary beach day. Highly recommend.

Had an amazing time , my wife and I went for our one year anniversary. Maggie was the best! She made everyone's horse riding experience well worth the time and money spent. We will be back next year for our 2 year anniversary for sure!! ......as long as we can ride Jack and Poppy again ;)

I've been riding for over 13 years, so I'm a bit hard to impress when it comes to horses. However, the people at EA did a great job accommodating both me and my game but inexperienced mom. Our ride was the two-hour beach one (it ended up being 3!) and it was fantastic. The trails go through some scrub and some unremarkable forest, but the moment you break out onto the beach is incredible! The group is then broken up according to what speed you want to go on the beach, so my horse Buzz and I had a wonderful gallop with two other riders. After that there's a time for photos in front of the ocean. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back! At the time of my writing this, the cost is $95 per person and there's a weight limit of 200lbs.

Equine adventures was an amazing experience for me. The guides were very nice and talkative. We first went through the woods at a nice walk where the one of the guides got to know me. When we came to a water hole the guides told us what to do and were reassuring. On the beach you got to split up into groups based on speed. I had the chance to trot and canter, and the amazing part was that the choice was totally up to you. You did not have to do anything you did not want to do. On the beach the guides got off of their horses and took pictures of us on our horses. All in all equine adventures was one of the best horse back riding places that I have gone to.

Our horseback ride on the pristine private beach of Cedar Island with Devon was absolutely…read moreunforgettable. The island itself feels untouched and magical, with wide stretches of soft sand, sweeping dunes, and the sound of the surf setting a perfect rhythm for the ride. The horses were beautifully trained--attentive, responsive, and clearly well cared for--which made the experience feel both safe and exhilarating. Devon was an exceptional guide: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the island's history and ecology. Her easygoing confidence allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the scenery. This is a must‑do experience for any coastal adventurer.

If you want something more than that you'll be disappointed. I'm an equestrian and thought being on the beach would be fun. Not! You have to stay at the walk. The horse handed me was their lead horse ergo wanted to be in the lead. The owner kept telling me to not get ahead of her. I circled all the way to the back of the herd. Guess. My horse went into the trot on his own so I posted and got my hand popped. That horse was in tune with me and wanted to stretch his legs on that beach, but that was not allowed. I understand about liability, but I signed a waiver. Every time we got a length ahead she wanted me to stop. My horse knew Whoa! and 3rd position! That horse had never heard "eeeeeaaazzzzy" or just wasn't feeling it. It was just frustrating and boring. It was a waste of $150 plus a $20 tip plus gas to drive to the end of the world. Speaking of, there are NO gas stations. Gas up and pee before you head there. Glad we did.

We love our dog from Timberlyn Farms, and he has become a wonderful part of our family…read more Unfortunately, the breeder experience did not match the quality of the dog, and future buyers should know what to expect. After we paid the deposit, communication from the breeder dropped off almost completely. We had to repeatedly ask for puppy photos, updates, and AKC parent information. That information was never provided. All communication was through Alura until we arrived in person and met Sam for the first time. We scheduled a visit (Day 1) to meet the puppies, with pickup planned for the next day. When we arrived, Alura was not there, and Sam met us outside. He warned us to be careful where we walked because horse manure was all over the ground. When we asked to see the kennels, he said it would be "too disruptive" and instead brought the puppies out one at a time. It also felt like he was pushing us toward one specific puppy for reasons we didn't understand. Because of the conditions and concern that collars might be switched, we decided to take the puppy home that same day. This was before we later learned that the collars listed in the veterinary report didn't match what we were shown. We asked for the vet report on pickup, and Sam said he didn't know where it was and that Alura would send it later. She never did. Sam microchipped the puppy behind the house and returned with only the microchip form. When we asked for transition food, he acted surprised and only provided some after we explained why it mattered. He also insisted we use a specific MLM-brand dog food for their "warranty" to apply. During the visit, the puppies were eating horse manure. Sam didn't seem bothered by it. Our vet later confirmed our puppy had worms consistent with that environment. Another family with a puppy from the same litter contacted us because they were also having trouble getting any response from the breeder. They shared the veterinary report that we were never given. The report listed three male puppies as blue, green, and brown. We were shown three males labeled red, green, and brown. Since the litter only had three males total, the "blue" puppy in the report had to be the same puppy we were shown as "red." The vet report noted that the blue-collared male had undescended testicles, which our vet later confirmed in the red-collared puppy we brought home. The brown and green male health notes in the report also matched what we saw. Collars can be changed for harmless reasons, but in the context of everything else, it added to our concern. We were also never shown the female puppies. The final issue is AKC registration. Our puppy is now five months old, and despite many requests from both us and the other family, the AKC paperwork has still not been provided. We have received inconsistent explanations and now no response at all, even though Timberlyn Farms advertises AKC Weimaraners. Would we buy from them again? No. Would we recommend them to others? No. There are many breeders who communicate clearly, provide full transparency, and prioritize the health and environment of their puppies. That has been our experience in the past, but not here. My advice to future buyers is to take your time and choose a breeder who is open, organized, and consistent from start to finish.
