We had the best time on this tour. They provided us with all the proper information prior to the day of. It was a pleasant and pretty drive from Portland. The price is definitely high, but it was worth every penny! We arrived at a stunning winery with a gorgeous view, Winter's Hill. Sarah, our guide, greeted us with a smile as she was preparing the horses. I was with my two parents in their 50s and my boyfriend. There was another couple in their late 40s who were there as well. We are all pretty novice riders. Sarah helped us with ease and made us feel very comfortable. She would let us know if we needed to make adjustments. The horses were all wonderful and great listeners. I wasn't nervous for a single minute the entire day. Sarah had some basic knowledge about the area and the wineries she shared along the way. The first winery we stopped at, White Rose, which serves 100% Pinot Noir. The place is ADORABLE. It's a beautiful wooden room and it's extremely intimate. It was only the 6 of us. She added an extra wine to the normal tasting menu. It was $20 for four tastings (including the bonus wine). These wines were fabulous. The woman helping us, Margot, was genius. She answered all of our questions with ease and was pleased to throw some knowledge our way. It was fabulous. We rode onto the second winery, Vista Hills. This was a different vibe completely. It was beautifully built on a hill with a gorgeous view. There was a Bob Marley record playing. They are a larger property. The man helping us was silly and knowledgable. He was witty and we had a lot of fun messing around with him. There was an adorable yellow lab running around as well. It was a family feel. I didn't enjoy the wine at this vineyard quite as much but it was still a great place. We got half price tastings for coming with the tour and he also added two bonus wines for us. Great value here! We rode the horses back to Winter's Hill and did our final wine tasting. Sarah was excited and willing to take our photo, the wines were delicious and we got to say goodbye to our dear horses. We had the best day and I would highly, highly recommend this to anyone!

The day was rainy but it didn't matter, the ride and tour were both fantastic. We were wanting to try something different, escape the stress of the city for a few hours and drink some wine. The winery and vineyards on our trip were beautiful, and the service was phenomenal. Not to mention our guide was the nicest and so much fun. Thank you, we will be back soon!

    Overlook!! Gorgeous view!!!!n

How do more people not know about this?!?!?!?!!?!?! We had mentioned it to 2-3 people before coming and no one had heard of it!!! My hubby and I took a ride on Monday (Memorial Day!) at 11am. We met with Ron, our tour guide, who was a legit cowboy from Colorado. He was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We got set up on our horses Charm and Rita. (both sweethearts!!! Watch out Rita likes to nibble along the trail!!!) They are able to take up to 10 people per tour but it turned out to be a private tour and ended up just being us two!!!! We took a short ride to our first winery; Vista Hills. They are known for their "treehouse" tasting room. Great wines, but this review isn't about the wine!!! After we took a long ride down to Durant. We wanted to go to Winters Hill but unfortunately it was closed for the holiday weekend. But alas they were able to accommodate and take us to Durant. Ron wanted to also take us to White Rose but we had already been there so it was nice they were able to change things on the spot for us. On the ride back from Durant, he taught us how to do a speedier walk. I don't remember the name, but its faster than a walk without the bounce of a trot. This was a blast to try while riding up a hill!!! It was such a great experience, so fun, and definitely the way to go visit some of the local wineries in the area!!! It's $150 per person for a 2.5hr tour. Worth every penny!!!!!

The short review: Do this, it's wonderful. The less-short review: I have maybe ridden a horse once before, if "ridden" can be allowed to mean that as an eight-year-old I was placed upon a horse which was then hand-led around a small square enclosure. And now here I was, sat on a horse, moving mostly at a gentle pace but occasionally at a canter or faster, going from winery to winery to drink wine. I was occasionally nervous, not fully trusting that my horse Buddy was as calm and well-trained as promised, but I just held on tight and reigned him in when he started going too fast, and it was easy and fun and I would recommend it to almost anyone. If the cost feels too high, I'd suggest considering skipping a fancy meal or two, and doing this instead. It's unique, the terrain is beautiful, the wines are great. (It's $150 for 2.5 hours and ~3 tasting rooms, tasting fees and tip not included.) A few notes: ** The guide ** Sarah, our guide, was AWESOME. She's a trick rider and gives these tours during wine season. (She's also a gluten-free chef: http://glutenfreecowgirl.com.) ** Consider going for longer than 2.5 hours ** Our ride lasted 2.5 hours and we fit in 3 tastings very comfortably. It was excellent and there was no rush at all, but if I were doing it again I'd probably opt for a longer ride, simply because it was so enjoyable. ** High quality wineries ** One worry I had was that a tour like this would take me to mediocre wineries, either because of kickbacks or simply because of convenience. Not the case here. The vineyards we went to were top notch. Two reasons I say so: 1) I had spoken to workers in an unaffiliated tasting room, who didn't know I was taking this tour, and they happened to mention all of the vineyards this tour took us to as ones that were exceptional and worth visiting. 2) Having spent a few days in wine country and seen a lot of estates and tasting rooms, I can affirm it--these plots of land and the views from their tasting rooms were swell. The wines were also as good as any I'd sampled. We visited White Rose, Vista Hills, and Winter's Hill. The exact vineyards you visit may be different, but it seems like all the ones in this area, convenient to the horses, are excellent. ** Horse-riding experience ** If you're at all worried, don't be. The horses mostly walk themselves. They literally follow one another so you almost don't have to steer. When you do, it's easy. You pull back gently to slow them down, or pull to the side to get the horse to walk to that side. If you have horse-riding experience and fear being bored, note the guide will let you, to a limited extent, go off to the side and go a little faster.

    Riding through the vineyards

Such an amazing way to tour Willamette Valley wineries! We booked a two person ride and were the only ones on the tour, so we were able to tailor it to more riding if we wanted - and it was the perfect weather so we did! We started at White Rose Winery, which had the best Pinor Noir I've ever tasted. Unreal. Looped through the vineyards (much to the pleasure of my horse who decided to start eating the leaves), went to a second winery with outdoor seating, and finished back at Winter Hill. Tastings were not included in the price but the last one was. Our guide was Cody, who was a blast to ride with and very knowledgeable about the area and the wineries we visited. Couldn't recommend it more!

    Wow!

We spent an incredible day with SarahAnn and the horses. It was our first riding experience and we felt completely comfortable within minutes. The sceneries along our tour were spectacular and the vineyards we visited were amazing (White Rose and Vista Hill). Definitely a worthwhile tour and one we look forward to repeating on our next trip!

Riding with Cody through the vineyards was a highlight of my two week vacation in Oregon. Surprisingly, I ended up being the only one on this particular tour. Cody was a fabulous conversationalist, immediately putting me at ease for being his only client. Among lots of different topics, we talked about the horses (of course!) and when I commented on how chill his horse was, Cody gave me an impromptu roping demonstration. Kalua never even flicked an ear when Cody was swinging the rope over Kalua's head!!! Besides my interactions with Cody, GiGi (my mount) and Kalua, this way of touring three wineries was a stand-out experience. The partnership with the winery staff was seamless, from the enthusiastic greetings given when Cody and I walked into the tasting rooms to the hitching posts set up on the winery properties. If you ever want a unique experience visiting wineries in the Willamette Valley, Equestrian Wine Tours needs to top your to-do-list!

Absolutely incredible! Cody was our guide and he was amazing, polite and professional, and very knowledgeable about the vineyards as well! We went to 3 wineries that were all amazing! White Rose Estate, Vista Hills in their Treehouse Tasting Room, and Winters Hill! Each had a wonderful experience different from the last. I would highly recommend Equestrian Wine Tours and Cody as your guide!

This is my first time taking a wine tour and it's amazing! My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend get away and I'll probably never forget about it. The tour guide was very patient with us since it was our first time, and it was just a blast and I learned so much about wine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. It's so much fun, I would recommend Ron! He's seriously the best

This was a very nice tour, scenery-wise. I enjoyed feeling the Tennessee Walker "running walk," the wines, and the beauty. It would have been nice to have the guide (Ron, I think?) talk...about anything, really, but he was more horseman than tour guide unless asked a direct question. He was very nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm just used to hearing more about the scenery/horses/history/whatever. After two hours of silently walking through fields I was kind of bummed, especially after experiencing two beach rides the day before with engaging guides. He did take some great pictures, though. The horses were well fed and seemed happy, and the wines were excellent.

a horse trailer parked on the side of the road

Today I watched as this company unloaded their horses from the metal horse trailer and tether them to posts. At that time, it was 102 degrees and projected to get hotter. The horses had no shade and no water. After the leader saddled the horses and helped riders on, the horses had been there for approx 45 minutes. I called the company and left a message, pointing out that at 102 degrees with the temperature rising and projected to get up to 115, it was not safe for the horses, let alone the riders. But the riders had a choice. I then pointed this out to the leader of the group who stated that her boss had said it was fine. It was approximately 10:45 AM when the riders left. It was projected to last 2 1/2 hours. At 11:15 it was up to 104 degrees. 11:21 it was 106 degrees. 11:38 108 degrees. At 12:24 109 degrees. You decide for yourself the value system of a company that is willing to do this to their animals.

It looks like a castle inside, something you'd never expect for being in the countryside in Oregon. It was breathtaking. Michael was our server and was awesome. He poured us a lot of fun side-by-sides, which is such a cool way to taste because it allows you to compare flavors and learn more about personal preference. He spent time and effort making sure we had fun, but also that we learned something. We were there for a long time, so don't book anything after (or close after). I would say skip the food here too. The only downside, which doesn't even merit the loss of a star, is the purchasing wine. We got two bottles, and had to go to another building to grab them. It was odd, we waited in what looked like someone's office. There were about 10 other people waiting in there with no employees or sign that anyone knew we were there. After like 15 min, we knocked on a door, and maybe 5 after that, someone started bringing orders out. Really weird system. We didn't plan ahead and showed up without a reservation, but they could not have been more welcoming and kind and let us choose between sitting indoors or outdoors. I recommend outdoors if weather permits, as there are lovely views of the vineyard and just the perfect vibe to go along with some wine tasting. We had a lovely afternoon here and everything could not have been more perfect. Domaine Serene is STUNNING and they have some very solid (albeit pricey) wines. My friend joined the club, but mostly because we were so charmed by Michael. Give that man a raise!
