I'll admit that none of the kids were particularly excited to start tutoring but what elementary kid would be? After four weeks in, all three of our kids look forward to tutoring days. Clean facility, nice staff, and an owner who knows what she is doing! If your child needs a little help, leave it to Gina and her team to get them where they need to be.

My daughter needed tutoring, so we called Tutoring Club. I initially spoke with a gentleman named…read moreRyan, who quoted us a total of $300 to $400 a month for 3-4 hours a week. When we got there, Daniel greeted us, and we did both the assessment and planning appointments ( he had us waiting 10 minutes past our appointment time for the planning appointment) with him. We later found out that it wasn't $300-$400 a month for 4 hours a week, but rather $360 a month for 12 months, covering 96 hours, and they run a hard credit check. This means she would be getting 6 months of tutoring for basically $360 bi-weekly, which felt misleading. I'd rather go to a tutoring place that doesn't do a hard credit check and is upfront with their prices. Additionally, Daniel was rude when I tried to discuss my daughter's needs; he would cut me off and talk about himself not even addressing or acknowledging what I just mentioned about my daughter.

My daughter, although reluctant to do "more school after school", has actually seen how much it's helped and asked to go! That's big for us. Her confidence and willingness to not give up is back. I knew I didn't want to do Kumon because he already had so much regular homework that more at-home work would be impossible. I was impressed from the very start. We went in for a free assessment and free first two sessions (we had a Groupon). Suchita (the owner) was SO nice! She did a thorough assessment, even breaking it into two assessment sessions. She was able to provide a detailed report showing which concepts he understood and which concepts he did not quite have. Suchita created a personalized plan that targeted those weak areas. What I truly appreciated was that she never gave me a hard sell (unlike a lot of tutoring places). She suggested different options, but didn't press a long-term commitment or more expensive options. One of the best things about Mathnasium is that you don't have pre-scheduled times (you don't have to call to cancel or reschedule or race to get there by a certain time)! Since I work and my kids have after school activities, that flexibility was a HUGE bonus! The tutors were all excellent and friendly. My son didn't have a bad experience with any of them and he really liked talking with them because they were "nice and patient." The kids are given stamps for completing worksheets, which they can trade in for prizes, including gift cards. This was highly motivating for my son. After one month, my son's grades on his math tests had improved an entire grade and he definitely felt more confident in his math abilities. I would highly recommend Mathnasium of Gilbert!
