I tend to get pretty anxious before appointments, especially if it is anything more than a cleaning. I just recently went in for my first cavity filling, and they made me feel so comfortable and not crazy for feeling anxious! Throughout the whole procedure the dental assistant and the dentist repeatedly asked me how I was doing and if I needed a break. Besides the warmth and understanding this dentist has, they also have a wonderful and cozy waiting room, TVs on the ceilings of each rooms, and great front desk staff. I have referred Annette Farthing to my family and to my friends who still have children going there. TODAY they showed they have no loyalty to their families. My sister took my daughter there today for me and they said the insurance was not active. I have no idea why, my niece who was there as well is on the same insurance and yet she was active. I spoke to office manager and there was NO WAY they were going to help me out. I must pay $240 for my child to have teeth cleaned. They wouldn't bill me, no discount, no anything. I went there after work and wanted to speak to the dentist and she would not see me. The office lady again repeated herself and said they have "too many turn overs" to get payment later. Well I'm not a turn over when my oldest child is 25 and youngest 14 and we've been there twice a year for many many years. It's super sad that loyalty or compassion doesn't exist here. That they would rather lose a patient than help me out. Had I known this was Annette Farthing's real attitude towards families, or that she can't even speak to me, I would have never gone. Plus $240? My dentist cash payment is $125. What a joke.

It was always a anxiety filled and overall terrible process going here. I always had some problems with my teeth growing up; like one of them never growing in and this place just helped fuel my fear of the dentist. They wanted me to let them strap him down to a board (which he's never had before and he is a teenager). I told them no. They tried to do it anyways and lets just say it didn't end well. The head lady that works on the nonverbal children said that that's what they do and the children get used to it. If I didn't like it I could go back up north where I came from. I'm not going to allow them to traumatize my son when things have been a certain way the entire time he's been going to a dentist. I'm not the parent that can just sit there while my child is screaming and having a complete breakdown as they strap and hold him down. Anyone with a brain would know that bad things can happen when the child is jerking, screaming, and freaking out as they are working on their teeth. Not to mention make terrified to ever go back to any dentist again. I do NOT recommend anyone with children that are nonverbal go there. Look in surrounding areas, because there's some really incredible dentistry doctors that are patient, understanding, and respectable to the child(ren) and parents. They are about what's best for the child and not themselves.

Jerilyn was my dental hygienist and she was extremely gentle, yet efficient. She also gave me a few tips on dealing with cold sensitivity on one of my teeth which has helped tremendously over the last few months. To top it off, Dr. So was also very personable and it was so nice to meet a fellow California native! I'm excited to return back for my next cleaning which says a lot coming from a person who doesn't particularly enjoy going to the dentist! Especially since anytime needles are involved I have a tendency to pass out. I have always had great dentists and I think that is part of why I have enjoyed going to the dentist, but at Mass Ave Family Dentistry you are not just getting a fantastic dentist--you are also getting a great team that works well together. Once I informed the dental hygienist, Amanda that I could pass out I was amazed at the extra steps that they took to ensure for both my safety and comfort. Shannon, who was shadowing for the day, and Amanda both did a fantastic job of keeping me talking and making sure that I was feeling ok. Dr.So and Amanda did an amazing job on my filling, it is not noticeable at all and has not changed my bite or smile. I also needed to get part of my permanent retainer fixed and I appreciated that Dr.So and the receptionists let me know that it would likely be cheaper to get it done at my orthodontist's. I think it says a lot about the quality of healthcare professionals when a healthcare office lets you know that there might be cheaper alternatives for the same work! In the end, I decided to get my retainer fixed by Dr.So and Amanda instead of traveling to get it fixed at my orthodontist's office. They got them both in and out in under an hour and reminded me to take a school excuse pass with me when I left. They are always up-front about prices if we have to make future appointments. This time, neither of my kids had cavities, though (yeah!), so they were able to submit their names to the no-cavity club. Both of my children said the lady that cleaned their teeth was mean, but when I asked why, it was because she told them they needed to floss more. I don't think that counts. My son said the scraping didn't hurt and my daughter said her cleaning tickled. All in all, we have been going to Dr. Mann's office for years and I appreciate them. I would only suggest that the cartoon playing on rotate in the waiting room to be placed in the kid play room because parent's ears truly need a break from those high-pitched voices. Love the fish tanks in the waiting room and the WiFi access!

Then she cleaned my husbands teeth and he complained about how she hurt his gums while cleaning his teeth. Then he said he needed to take painkillers after he got home. I also had my teeth cleaned a few weeks ago and she was too rough as well. We've never had this kind of experience there and have been patients for 10 years. This needs to be addressed. I'm not sure if she's new or not. Another issue is we have 2 free cleanings a year which is every 6 months with our insurance. They have been scheduling us every 8-9 months which most times is only once a year. If he has so many patients maybe it's time to hire another dentist to work with him. We should be scheduled every 6 months. Maybe it's time to find another dentist.
