We totally underestimated the amount of time that it would take to complete the tour. It covers about 12 blocks and we did not have sufficient time to cover all the 22 historic places. After parking the car on the streets, we started the tour from Presidio Avenue, the oldest street in Santa Barbara. The Spanish style architecture of the buildings and shopping malls impressed me a lot. I could not help but keep staring and admiring the beautiful Santa Barbara downtown. Our next stop was at the El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park. It was founded in 1782 and was built by the Spanish along the coast of Alta California. There is a $7/adult admission fee to explore this historic park. A map serves as a guide to explore the park and the placards in several rooms educate one about the history of each room. One can easily spend at least an hour exploring this park and more time if you are a history lover. We then walked to the Santa Barbara County courthouse. I was looking at the courthouse for a very long time thinking how beautiful a courthouse could possibly look. Designed in a Spanish style with an 80-foot clock tower, the courthouse seemed to attract a lot of people. One is allowed to go to the clock tower for free We entered the courthouse and were amazed to see the interior décor, murals, tiles, painting, etc. A 360 degree of Santa Barbara invited us when we walked up to the clock tower. The ocean could be seen from one end, the Santa Ynez Mountains could be seen from another end and several other landmarks. After enjoying the magnificent view, we walked down and ended our Red Tile Walking Tour.

Then I came across the Red Tile Walking Tour and we decided on SB. The walk is flat and only a couple of miles that winds around and near State Street. Download the podcast by John O'Hurley (Seinfeld's J. Peterman) that gives a nice audio/video spin to the walk. You can also pick up a small pamphlet at the County Courthouse (where the walk starts) that gives a little synopsis of each location on the walk. Take the time and actually go into the places that you can (some locations are not open to the public) it is worth the small fees to visit the museums.

I'm not sure how I found Debra and started working with her, But I think we entered our information…read moreon one of those ads on travel sites and her information came up because she was within our zip code. Anyway, our first point of contact with Debra was at the end of February/beginning March. I sent an inquiry about tropical honeymoon destinations. In the beginning Debra was nice, in the fact that she asked the all the right questions to provide accurate planning and research. We then went back a fourth on places and prices that best fit our honeymoon needs. We communicated solely via email, which can be a good and bad thing. Her emails were very generic, as if she copied and pasted information from travel sites because I started seeing the same information when I would do research on my end. The only difference between what I found and she sent was the price, sometimes the quotes she would send were higher than what was advertised on travel sites (ie: travelocity, cheapair, etc- weird?) I still gave her the benefit of the doubt. Also she'd send multiple emails after emails with minimal information instead of one mass email with all the information you need. You can imagine this became a nuisance. *note, I replied to every email she sent. We were interested in all-inclusive resorts and had a budget of $5k for everything. She started steering us to all-inclusive in the Caribbean and Bahamas, when these places weren't where we initially wanted to go, but she insisted that it was within our budget. After speaking to our family and friends who have gone to those areas, they warned us NOT to go during our scheduled date for the honeymoon which is beginning of August because it's clearly hurricane weather! When we expressed our concern about the bad weather to Debra, she stated that bad weather can happen anywhere at anytime and still pushed us to book where she was recommending. I should have saw this as the first red flag. Flash forward to present day, I receive an email from her with information from Turks and Caicos. We sent an email a couple weeks ago stating we're already booked our honeymoon so I was a little confused as to why I received another email about Turks. When I informed Debra that we have already booked (a second time) she was passive aggressively upset. Please refer to the screen shot picture of our conversation. This just goes to show her true colors since we didn't book with her. Nothing was promised that we would book with her, so her passiveness was very uncomfortable and if you decide to work with someone that pushes you to book somewhere you don't want to and gets mad if you don't work with her, feel free to contact Debra. All in all, we never committed to anything with Debra so I'm not sure where her passive aggressive is coming from. This seems all UNreasonable to me.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience working with David de L'Arbre to plan our two week…read morehoneymoon in France at the end of September. David and his team did an incredible job putting the itinerary together based on some feedback we provided on the regions we wanted to visit and the activities we were hoping to do (enjoy local cuisine & winery visits!) . I was particularly impressed with the choice of accomodations, every hotel we stayed as was elegant, charming, convenient and and we were treated incredibly well given we were booked through David and their affiliations with Virtuoso. Travelling internationally during covid was a bit stressful but we were put at ease by David proactively reaching out with reminders on paperwork (Passe Sanitaire) and covid testing requirements for the countries we connected through. Our trip consisted of 3 seperate legs (Paris, Avignon, St. Jean Cap-Ferrat) with trains, planes and various ground transportation arranged at each stop. All we really had to do was sit back and enjoy our honeymoon. First class experience and we can't wait to plan another trip with David and his team.
