We used home tests for Radon twice (18 months apart) in our home and the highest result was 3.9 pCi/L, just under the EPA recommended abatement level of 4pCi/L. To err on the safe side we chose to hire E.I.C. to provide mitigation. Cameron gave us a bid then Adam & Devon came out to seal up the crawl space and install an under house fan, this took the two an entire day to accomplish. Then two commercial grade testing units were placed inside the home for three days and the resulting number was 0.3pCi/L. Bought a radon sensor from Airthings to see the levels in our cabin in Truckee. Typical range was 2-7 which was concerning. We called EIC and Cameron was amazing to work with. Knew what to do right away, talked us through the plan, and installed the remediation system incredibly well. Now our levels are typically 0.1-0.4 which is totally amazing. Based on my mitigation experience, I highly recommend Cameron and his team. My levels were over 16 and are now 1-2 post mitigation (and I expect this to improve once I finish sealing all the cracks). Cameron is a total radon nerd and you can feel his passion for what he does. He and his team are great communicators, punctual, and clean up nicely after they finish the job. My contractor's radon guy quoted me over $12K for my mitigation and his plan was rather complex (three suction pits and two, possibly three, fans) Cameron's plan was much simpler, requiring only one suction pit and one fan. We had a new radon fan installed by EIC a few months ago when we moved into our new construction home. When we noticed the circuit breaker kept triggering due to an arc fault, we called EIC even though we weren't certain the radon fan was the culprit. Cameron came out to our house and spent well over an hour diagnosing possible issues with the radon fan as well as the electrical setup of the house. When he didn't detect obvious problems with the wiring, he had his team completely replaced and rewired the fan, then thoroughly tested the circuit. Although they are located in Tahoe, they were willing to come to Davis to help us with our issue. We had a reading of 4.8 and we were really hoping to get the readings under 2.7. We are now getting readings of 0.3, which is less than what naturally occurs outside. I contacted Jim at Environmental Inspections & Construction to inspect a radon mitigation system that had been installed for the previous owner of my new home by a different contractor. I strongly suspected that the system had problems including excessive fan noise and improperly sealed junctions. Jim showed up for the inspection on time, listened carefully to my concerns and was able to confirm my suspicions that the prior system had been incorrectly installed. Jim clearly outlined his plan to fix the system and described everything (in detail) that he would do to correct the problems. Our timelines for the repair were tight, but Jim was able to accommodate me and schedule the repair for the day following the inspection. Again, Jim and his crew showed up on time and started working immediately. Much of the old system had to be removed due to subpar materials, incorrect installation and poor workmanship. The new system components Jim and his crew installed were high quality and adhere to best practices and regulations for radon mitigation systems. After my house tested positive for Radon (6 pCi/l), I contacted three separate contractors for quotes. Jim (Environmental Radon) was the first to come by, and after a thorough inspection, he gave me a very fair price for mitigation. A few weeks later I decided to use his services and I was not disappointed. The installation went flawlessly and my house tested at less then 1 pCi/l, or four times lower then the recommended safe level. Unfortunately, two days after Jim finished his mitigation, my crawl space flooded due to extreme rain and poor drainage. He was very helpful and went out of his way to make sure any issues that occurred from my flood were corrected.
