Danny's first Crawl Space inspection led him to guestimate was there was $5,000-$6,000 of damage, but there was no way to know for sure without removing the exterior wall. After Danny thought about it for a couple weeks before he came to work on the house, he came up with a stroke of genius. Instead of removing the exterior siding, he cut a hole in the floor by the damaged Floor Joists so he could easily reach the damage without multiple trips through the crawl space. Then instead of replacing a 6+ foot length of Floor Joist, he nailed 8"x2" pressure treated wood bracing on either side of the Floor Joists and backed-up 4 Rim Joists with 8"x2" pressure treated wood. He also screwed into the foundation sidewall pressure treated 2"x4" wood side bracing support from the foundation footing to the bottom of four Floor Joists. He did this all in one day (with a helper) at a cost of $1,000 instead of his original guestimate of $5K-$6K. Danny is a Genius, hard worker, and very honest!
