Under any circumstances DO NOT go to this location if you are BLACK OR OF AFRICAN AMERICAN DECENT. The assistant manager Ayman Elsherbini was being very discriminatory towards me when in no way shape or form was being rude to him. I explained something they did before or accepted before so they can understand what i was speaking of and because of this he refused me a car and told me i wasn't getting any cars from them. I walked out and left it because im not going to have anyone paint me in a light that is not accurate but DO NOT GIVE THIS BRANCH YOUR MONEY AS LONG HE WORKS THERE. Horrible experience. Tried to rent a car for my brother-in-law remotely. They won't take a CC over the phone. I told them he had a prepaid debit card and asked how much to put on the card, and got a figure. Spent two days getting the card filled, and when he went to pick up the car, they said they wouldn't take it. The manager was a jerk and was insulted when I pointed that his people had wasted my time. He said they would take a money order but wouldn't take cash ridiculous. He was no help at all in trying to help resolve the problem. read more

Ended up with a low tire pressure alert while driving on the highway, pulled off and found a decent size puncture in the tire tread. No spare in the trunk. Made it to a gas station and attempted to put more air in the tire hoping it would hold long enough to get to a tire shop for repair, but the hole was too large. Called the roadside number and was told a tow was on the way and was sent a link for an Uber to take me to the nearest enterprise shop. Seemed pretty easy. They gave an eta of 90 min on the tow, after 90 I called back to check on progress, 30 more min, still waiting. Called back after an additional 60 min and was informed it was out of their hands. I asked if I could patch the tire and limp it over to the rental place where I would get a replacement car. They said I could try that. It worked ok, made it to the rental joint, where they didn't have a replacement car. They ended up driving us and the flat tire to a tire shop for to fix the tire. The entire ordeal killed the entire day. Seems like the roadside assistance, customer service, and rental locations don't communicate well. It probably took 6 hours to get back on the road. Seems like all the reviews for this Enterprise location are 5 Stars or 1 Star, love'um or hate'um. I have used them twice for rentals in the last couple of months -- the first time, everything went smoothly, rented a budget car for a trip down to Jersey (the 1st vehicle they showed me reeked of pot, but they had a back up). My 2nd rental experience didn't go as well, no vehicles were available when I walked in last Saturday, and I had to go to the Avon location to obtain one. It was partly my fault for not making an advanced reservation, but my trip was on short notice and I figured I had no problems the time before. Lesson learned. But it makes you wonder, if your only business is renting cars, shouldn't you always have some available ? Maybe it speaks more to the state of affairs of our current economy than anything else though. Once I was in a vehicle and on my way, all my expectations were met. read more

While visiting family in CT, I needed to rent a car. Although it was 45 minutes from where we were staying, this place was the best option. I made my reservation on Monday afternoon to pick up a vehicle at noon on Tuesday. When I arrived at 12:30pm, after asking a family member to make the 1.5 hour roundtrip drive to get me there, I was told when I walked inside that they would have no cars available until Thursday afternoon at the earliest. So know your reservation is not a reservation, and beyond that the lack of care shown by the two men working there was appalling. Never again. read more

Trying to tell me I have a balance from 2010? Scratches from a rental that was never brought to my attention from over decade ago? No way to dispute, no contact from 12 years ago until now. This place was terrible. Customer service is the worst. I was quoted one price and charged another. The car was dirty and the windows had smoke film also burns in seats.The tires were balding, brakes were questionable and the front end shook when trying to stop. I expected more from Enterprise since I had rented a van from them in the past. I will not rent from them again this was a horrific experience. I tried to exchange the car at a few locations to the point I was running late for my trip. They were no help and offered no compensation for such a huge and terrifying experience. I have rented from many other Enterprises and never had an issue. I come to this place and I need all types of forms of mail and ID. I come back another day with every that was asked for. I still needed more and what I had the first title was no longer good enough. I come back for a third time, same issue. not good enough or correct. Even the paperwork that was accepted the first and second time was no longer accepted. I come with a friend who has rented many times from this location, never had an issue and they were handing him the keys until he turned to me and added me as a driver. The employee at the desk who has denied me the many times before almost passed out when he saw my face. He now needed more paperwork and blood, basically. Gave him all he needed and now he no longer had the car he was giving my friend. They we're all out of all cars, trucks and SUVs, right after handing my friend a list of the cars they had available, once he saw my face. My friend couldn't believe the discrimination happening right in front of his own eyes. He asked why did they have such a problem with renting to a black man and the employee had no words. He explained he was closing and had no cars left. read more

Our car was in the shop and usually I wouldn't bother with a rental but with the headache of trying to get a ride last time this happened I thought I would give it a try. Wow, am I impressed. Reading the Yelp reviews I was hesitant at first but just thought I would throw my two cents in. Looking at the other poor reviews for this location it looks like those people edged on the poor service. If you put that much passion into a review I am sure you all were just super pleasant to serve as a customer too! Seriously though, who brags about their college degrees on a yelp review stating that they went to a better college than the person that helped them because they worked at Enterprise? Well I was so happy how easy it was to book my car online, went there, and was greeted by only smiles and professionalism. They explained everything carefully to me, gave me a great deal, and honestly it was one of the first times when I walked out of a place and thought "wow, if every place operated that well this world would be better." Alex O'Bernier took care of me and just was so pleasant. He answered all my questions, was professional, and made this whole process easy. So we originally got a car and they made a mistake saying that they had the car that we wanted but when we got there the guy said he had to upgrade our car because of the mistake on their part. We had a really Big Car which really worked perfectly for us and extremely happy that we didn't have to pay extra, ever since then we have been loyal customers when we need a car to rent. read more

Went here with my cousin on Saturday to get a rental car because she was in a car accident. Phil the guy who helped her gave her a free upgrade because he understood how scared she was to drive again and knew a larger SUV would help ease her mind. He explained everything thoroughly so she understood everything since this was her first time getting a rental. Even though it wasn't me who was being helped I still appreciated how nice and kind Phil was to my cousin. If I ever need a rental car I will definitely come here. read more

This Enterprise failed on two counts; one, When I called at 8:00a.m. to be picked up (what Enterprise is all about) I was told I couldn't get a ride until 1:00. Second, when I was able to arrange a ride to the location I was told there were no rentals available!!! Totally unacceptable-car rental is your business! read more

Enterprise Rent a Car in Torrington was quite helpful in delivering the car of my choosing to the rural auto body shop where I was having my car fixed. They did all the paperwork with the insurance company and so I basically just dropped my car off, then drove the rental car for 5 days, then returned the rental car to the auto body shop without ever showing my credit card. Insurance covered all of the costs and Enterprise took care of all the details and provided me a good late model car. A good experience all around. read more

Watch out! friendly faces at the counter, but if anything goes wrong, you're in deep trouble. I retuned a truck with a small ding in the front bumper. Not something I did. The checkout of the truck was done quickly and in poor light, so may well have been pre-existing. A few weeks later I received a bill from Enterprise to replace the entire bumper with the attached photos very poor quality, hard to see any damage at all, and certainly not the little ding the manager pointed out to me and which we discussed. They have now accused me of "not cooperating" in an "amicable" settlement (not true, since I have responded to all their phone calls and emails) and they did not respond to my detailed letter asserting why I was challenging their claim. Even my insurance agent warned me--after I reported the incident--that Enterprise would drag me into a claim nightmare and do everything they could to jack up the amount of the claim. Lesson: don't rent from Enterprise or be prepared to purchase their hefty daily extra-insurance surcharge. read more

I have to let everyone know if you decide to rent a car from them go through your own insurance, because this company will look for any excuse to not pay the claim if you take theres!!!! I rented a car for one day, because my car was in service, and normally I would have to pay $50.00 diollars for the day, however I was talked into taking there Insurance, to cover the rental, and the property damage to the others. It was promoted as "Worry free driving" I asked I am covered no matter what, I was told unless I was using the car to commit a felony, or I was driving drunk there were no problems. Well my car was not ready as advised, and what happened on my way home as I was pulling into my driveway (Please note my driveway is close to a mile long) and unfortunately an animal jumped in my path, because I do live in a very rural area, and when I went to hit the brake, I hit the gas by mistake, and went straight toward my wifes parked car on the otherside of the property. When trying to get information to put claim in from the office it was hard, I had to do all the leg work. The company is looking for any excuse to not cover this claim. They say because it was my property and my wifes car that was hit there is no coverage!!!! I submitted pictures, and video surveliance, and they refuse to cover claim!!!! I told my insrsnace company and my agent was not happy, and I told him if he ever recomends Enterprise Rent a Car to me again he will lose my bussiness, and I told him if he even thinks about recommending these thieves hes crazy, go with Hertz etc!!!! I called corporate, and was told I would get a call back in 24 hours never happened!!! I called again, and sat on hold to long and just hung up. I am done with Enterprise, and You should be to. I plan on sharing my story all over the internet, and media, because Enterprise quoted me $50.00 for the day, and they never gave me anything in writing, and convinced me to take this additional coverage. They made $92.00 off me that day, however when I am done it will cost them much more. Please feel free to share my story, and hopefully learn from this!!!! So in summary, if you rent a car, pay the daily fee, and DECLINE THE ADDITIONAL INSURANCE, ITS A SCAM!!!! read more
