And then blaming it on you and refusing to help unless you take a seven person vehicle gas hog. I drive an electric car. All I needed was a car and Enterprise refused me service. Refused to even let me know when to come back for a car, which I politely offered to do. I was banned when I reasonably got angry after being told to leave( without a car to leave in or any indication I would get one eventually). I guess they are used to people being bullied into taking what they want, not what the customer ordered. After reviewing reviews, I see that banning upset customers is a trend. I wanted to rent a Ford F150. My work truck broke down and I needed to tow something back to my business. I called to check inventory at this location, or what I thought was this location, and spoke to a woman who was very pleasant. She confirmed that this location had a FordF150. I asked several follow up questions, such as if the hitch was available and if towing lights were able to be plugged in. She confirmed all of these things. Everything was incredibly smooth until I arrived at the actual location where I was greeted by a young woman who stated that they had no Ford F150 available. I told her that I called this location and inventory was confirmed. She stated that she didn't know who I called but there wasn't a truck here. My primary frustration is that when I told the woman that I had called to ensure inventory was available she stated that I should have made the reservation earlier. No apology for the mix up, no attempt to resolve the matter, just a blank stare with her essentially saying that this was my fault. My truck broke down...I'm not sure how I could have made an earlier reservation. Horrible customer service and the complete lack of any empathy from this woman is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. A really bad experience that resulted in two uber rides, no car rental, and a wasted afternoon. I'm unlikely to rent with Enterprise for either my personal or business needs from here moving forward. read more

Small hiccup upon arrival but it was quickly resolved and I was upgraded to a nicer car! While waiting, I overheard/eavesdropped on the conversation that was happening with the manager and maybe an insurance company? I don't know. But it sounded like the insurance company or whomever was trying to blame Enterprise for something and the way that the Enterprise manager stayed completely calm, continued to provide reference numbers and past phone calls and other notes despite whoever was on the other line's rude persistence and escalation. Working in the mental health field, this is so rare, and if the general manager reading this ever wants to become a social worker please let me know, because we need people with patience like you! We are leaving for our trip in the AM now scrambling to find something for which no location apparently has! Your employee flat my tires and admitted that it was his fault I sat for 2 hrs before anyone came out to see about me my wife had already had a rental but while she had the rental I was going to pick the kids up from school but couldn't because both tires were flat. Now the manager she has no concerns at all about my situation but when I stared yelling after 2 hrs she took our rental back now we stuck with flat tires but they towed it to fix the tires but that nasty manager that has no concern should be fired cause she never tried to fix the problem now me and my wife are trespassed from enterprise rental at RDU Airport now. We will never give you our business again and hope others do the same. read more

Based on my first customer service experience I am going to go easy on Enterprise. Last month I rented two cars in the span of three weeks both because my car was at the dealership for repairs. I never went in the location and only interacted with the guys that dropped my cars off as they brought them right to the dealership, but I found them helpful, friendly and professional. The first car was great. Clean, full of gas and a good car. The second car wasn't as good, even though it was bigger as I requested, but the inside wasn't so clean. There were large food crumbs around the shifted & sticky soda residue on the shift knob and around the cup holders. Now, all of that I can handle. But when I got out of the car after driving it home and got out of my seat I noticed something I can been sitting on the entire drive. It turned out to be someone's nasty big toe nail clipping. I had been sitting on it the entire time! Ewww... So, Enterprise, please check all nooks and crannies of cars before you rent them out. read more

I just had a conversation over the phone with a gentleman who allegedly claimed as the Branch Manager of this location on Page Rd. Had to wit for about 5 minutes for my call to be answered, once answered was placed on hold. I called to verify the availability of the car I was supposed to have to make sure there was one available on the day it was scheduled for repair. He had an attitude answering my questions and lack human relations in dealing with me concerning my reservation and couldn't handle the job. He told me to go to another location instead due to his lack of knowledge. It seems like he was short of patience and had a condescending attitude, regarding how to manage the business. This is the worst experience I've ever had with Enterprise. I am calling my adjuster right now to move my reservation to the one in Chapel Hill Blvd. Wish you luck on this location read more

Impeccable customer service. The rep ( I hate that I didn't get her name) was so courteous and professional. The service was fast and efficient and I was in and out in no time. This was by far one of my best experiences at a car rental company. I usually have to wait in a long line only to find out there is an issue. That definitely was not the case today. Crooks Rented a van there for a move. Height concerns as needed garage clearance. Noone on/off premises could tell me how tall van was. At return a black smudge on passenger door was identified as damage and a deposit soliceted. Mark was photographed by me and no deposit given as mark was neither raised no indented. Maybe a good time to mention this location is a full time collision repair shop. You can probably guess the resr. They sent me a bill for $1025. I'm sure Enterprise got scammed too as you know these operators billed for scam repairs. Now theyve turned over to a collection agency ( who by the way will settle for $200). Laughable !! I've rented from enterprise five times this year three times at this location I will never rent from this location again they gave me a choice of two cars one was filthy reeked of cigarette smoke and the other one was dirty never ran through the car wash and stains on the seat and pretty much told me those are my only options and I said can't they call another location and he say oh we call one earlier today asked if i can change my reservation to the airport and they said no. And have problems with the car the entire weekend including a wasp and hornet Can rolled from under the seat luckily it didn't go under the petals. Though, there's no guarantee of vehicle of your choice for rental. I must say, both Agents went beyond to accommodate my requirements. My company has a contract with Enterprise, so we have to rent from them, so I have no experience with other companies, BUT I have rented from several locations. I'm not sure why this one has such poor reviews. Yeah, sometimes the cars are a little dirty or whatever, but not all locations have a car wash! Get over it! It's really not that bad. I accidentally put way too much gas in my car once, and they gave me a free tank of gas on my next rental. I really appreciated that! They're friendly, and they usually give me a little bit of an upgrade. The only qualm I have is that my co-worker has received some really sweet upgrades (Camaro, Mustang convertible, Chrysler, etc) for basic customer service purposes, and I'm getting a little jealous... read more

I cannot in good faith recommend this rental car company. Not only were they rude, they unapologetically broke their word and ultimately overcharged my rental by two extra days. In my last rental experience with them, I was returning my car on a Saturday when they are not open for business. The associate assured me that was no problem and I could just park it in their lot and leave the keys in a drop slot. When I came Saturday to return the car as planned, I was surprised to find the lot all locked up. There was no access to the place where the associate recommended I park the car, no access to the lot whatsoever. When I came back first thing Monday morning, the manager (Stephen Fisher) informed me that I should of parked the car on the side of the road outside the parking lot Saturday, thus I was charged for two extra days. It seemed to make no difference that this went directly against the suggestion his associate made to me days earlier. Furthermore, I couldn't believe that the manager expected me to leave a car - one which I'm liable for - on the side of the road in downtown Durham over the weekend! There are other rental car options in Durham. I'll use those for all my future business rentals. read more

In the next five minutes, I will reserve a car for the fifth time at this Enterprise location. Even though they had bad reviews, I wanted to give them a try to see for myself. My first time renting from them was interesting. It was December and very cold. The office was busy. There were three representatives. Two people were picking up rental cars, not including myself, one was waiting for a ride, and another was dropping off. The representatives had it all under control, despite the weather and high volume of customers. Mind you, the phone was ringing at least two or three times. From the start, it was an awesome experience. These folks go out of their way to serve their customers. Cars are available, and if not in the size requested, then these folks will bend their back to make one available. On two other occasions, I encountered rude customers. One simply complained about an upgrade, even though she did not have to pay the upgraded rate. Another complained about a ten minute wait. She dropped off her car with Hendricks, so they could repair the car she had an accident with. Her impatience led me to think no wonder she was in an accident. This Enterprise location deserves better than a one star rating. On two other occasions, they reduced my rate due to a AAA membership and because the car they gave me had little to no gas. Just think about how attentive they are. Overall, I am very happy with this location and will continue to reserve a car with them. read more

On the plus side, this location is near the bus terminal, which was convenient for me. On the not-so-plus side, though I reserved an economy size car, the smallest car available was intermediate. Their car selection is quite small. Thankfully, after asking, they agreed to charge me economy size rates. On the BAD side, I was charged an extra day and a half though I returned the car on time with a full tank of gas. After notifying them of the mistake, they agreed to refund me the money, but no, they instead ended up charging me that extra amount again. WHAT. The ineptitude is appalling, really. I definitely don't recommend this location if you are looking to rent a car in Durham. Unless maybe your car insurance is paying for the rental; then they can deal with $114 in erroneous charges. read more

I love Enterprise and this location is very convenient. They were pleasant and professional and even matched a lower price that I found online while in the office waiting. The ONLY reason that they did not get 5 stars is because I did have to wait almost an hour because they had no cars. Then I had to drive to get the car (they did offer to drive me) from the place where the maintenance was done. Anyway, overall I love that I can rent a quality car without having a credit card and get better service than most of the other rental car companies. Y'all are alright with me. read more

I found out that these people are crooks. They just flat out steal from you, then make up reasons for the charges to your card. They gave me 7 different reasons why they charged almost $200.00 to my card. When I asked for a breakdown of how they arrived at the charges they said " oh-you didn't vacuum the car". I had it detailed before returning it, but I asked how much would that cost., when it wasn't $200.00, they made up another reason, and on and on. Watch your back! I appreciate how friendly the reps are, and that they really do want to help. However, I suggest that they use a better internet server so that they can process car rentals faster. They'll go out of their way to pick you up and/or drop you off (if they tell you they're busy, all you need to do is remind them that you were told you'd be picked up--they'll get you a.s.a.p). I had a problem with a vehicle I rented when we were returning home; we were within 3 miles of home when a message "Warning: To avoid engine damage, refill coolant immediately." I had no idea there was an issue with the coolant, so I called Enterprise, and they sent a towing company to pick vehicle up at our home. They offered to replace vehicle, but we didn't need to use one anymore. In short, yes, problems happen, but Enterprise folks go out of their way to help you (at least here in Durham--I'll gladly rent from you folks again)! read more

I rented a car this week from Enterprise and received really lousy service and a disgusting and inadequate vehicle. I arrived at my scheduled pick-up time and after waiting 10 minutes to be served, had to wait another 10 while they brought my vehicle to me after it was "cleaned." Before I rented the car at the counter I told the woman that I needed a car with bluetooth so I could talk hands free. She said the car had it. When we got in the car and I indicated that it didn't have it, she told me they had no other cars available and offered nothing else to help me.The car is old and outdated and your competitors offer much nicer vehicles. I drove off the lot and then discovered how filthy this car was. I rent cars regularly for work and this was hands down the most filthy and disgusting rental car I have had. It had stains on every single seat, sticky spots on the steering wheel and consoles, and piece of fried chicken between the seats. I'm not kidding, I have a picture. I actually had to stop and buy wet wipes to clean the car it was so gross. I had to get to a meeting out of town and had no choice, but if I could have, I would have returned the car immediately and demanded a full refund and rented from one of their competitors. I will not be renting from this location ever again. read more

I would like to share the negative experience I had at this location with the Manager Leslie Crawford. I utilized this location in the past and always use Enterprise when needed so when I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and my insurance company partners with Enterprise for car rentals I choose to pick up the vehicle at the 500 E Pettigrew St, Durham, NC location. Pick up was no problem, pleasant and polite employee. The rental period was about 3 weeks which was all covered by the insurance company, however towards the end of the rental the manager Leslie Crawford contacted me on several occasions via email because she could not reach me via phone and her emails provided deadlines to return the vehicle followed by threats to "escalate the matter" since the insurance had provided a last date, which was actually extended and covered never was she polite or geared towards customer service. I expressed to Ms. Leslie that the tone in her emails were causing me anxiety and her response was " good because we need to get this taken care of." . I understand she had a matter to take care of but her tone and approach were inappropriate and at that point I knew she did not care about me as a customer, she is just running a business and does not value the "customer". I will never go back or recommend that location to anyone. read more
