When I reserved the car I made triple sure to check that I was 20-24 and tried to call the week before my reservation four times to confirm and the call was dropped every single time because the number was changed but the new number wasn't listed anywhere on the corporate website or google maps or apple maps. Upon arriving I was informed that I could not rent a car because I wasn't 21 and that even though it's listed on the website they couldn't do it because they're a franchise and not a corporate location. This was not listed ANYWHERE in the fine print of my reservation. The representative didn't attempt to aid me at all and did not provide a valid phone number for the other locations in the area while knowing the number listed wasn't valid. She then walked away without offering me any assistance nor did she reappear to offer any sort of help. I will never rent from Hertz.

I have rented at this location 5 times, and 3 of those times I had to use my credit card as they could identify the company I was with, but could not bill to their account. This last rental, my car has barely a half tank of gas and smelled of smoke. I can't wait for uber to get to this area, as I put fewer than 60 miles on the car, but have to pay for 3 full days. Still this is the only way to get to this po-dunk airport for a 6AM flight.

If you want to zip in and out, this is definitely the right place to rent a car. The only thing that makes me a little wary is that unlike Enterprise, they don't walk around the car with you to verify the car's cosmetic condition. Their fleet is fine, but some of the cars do have cosmetic flaws on the inside (stains, etc), so that was an area of concern. I've always notified them if I notice anything, and I've never had an issue, so it hasn't been a problem, it's just something to be aware of when you rent. As you can probably gather from that observation, I think their fleet of cars is ok. Not bad, just nothing to write home about... lots of Hyundai Accents and Chevy Impalas. My last rental had no cruise control... a definite bummer on a long trip.

If uou want somewhere to sit get there kinda sorta early or you'll have to stand til it's time to board or until 1 of the 2 flights board. All there's a FREE shuttle that takes you from Columbus to Starkville so if you need a ride and want a free ride jump on the shuttle. It runs both ways and in line with GTR flights.
