I still refused to pay the bs added fees: "Transportation Fee," "Prep Fee," etc. They soon figured out I was the one doing the financing and was more than ready to walk away. But they made the whole process take so long, that by the end, I gave in and paid the insane fee for them to register the car, which was extortion. The Giuffre Service Department that handles KIAs has its ups and downs. I had a bad experience there (having to wait six hours when I was told it would be two or three) and then got whiny excuses from Charles, the manager that day. I was so angry that I got in touch with the guy who's in charge of the department, who was fantastic. He personally oversaw my appointment. However, then they mistakenly added an extra fee, which was annoying, because I had already paid by credit card, and apparently even the manager can't void a credit card charge (?), so when the head guy called me to follow up, I told him about it and he said he'd fix it for me on Monday. End advice on dealing with Service Department: - Don't deal with Charles; make an appointment on a day on which Andrew is running the office - Always check the breakdown of your bill before paying - You may have to escalate matters to the head boss if something goes wrong

Continued negotiation next day, and even asked to run a credit check first which I reluctantly agreed to, but negotiation came to a standstill. They claimed they couldn't refund on weekends. Came back Tuesday, then said they couldn't refund and has to wait next day. When asked why, scumbag said 'just can't.' Disputed with manager and then said no refunds before 30 days from deposits by check or cash. I said this was a credit card. I asked why they had excuse after excuse. Manager replied 'we can make 60 days. Or make it 90 days' sarcastically. Then rudely and repetitively kept talking over me off by saying 'goodbye' and 'go' while I was talking. Ended up getting the refund from my credit card company. Found out weeks later, my identity was used to open new store credit cards. Had to spend alot of time to clean up my identity theft. ABSOLUTE SCUMBAG SCAM ARTIST CRIMINALS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

But in a time of pandemic, if you're literally looking for a car rental in walking distance of Kensington/Windsor terrace, I'd recommend this one. Call to make a booking, or you can try just showing up on the day. Summer hours are they're only open Monday through Friday, and they close early on Fridays. I don't know how changeable their rates are, but we took a car for a week for $450 (total, including tax etc). That's about what we'd have paid at empire over in crown heights, but again, the location was really important for us with covid. If your credit card doesn't cover collision insurance, that's an extra $10 per day. The cars are not new, they have mileage and wear and tear, but they work. We felt confident that they were seriously cleaning between customers. Everyone is masked. Nice people. You don't have to go inside to do paperwork, just hand your card and license through the door and they'll hand you back the receipt to sign. Bring your own ez pass if you'll be driving anywhere with tolls.
