Burrito mojado with Chile Verde was outright delicious and just enough spice to make it interesting....

What we found was the family restaurant of your dreams. This is a husband-and-wife-run spot (M & J), former IHOP veterans who quit to open something far better. Meaning fresh ingredients, homemade recipes, everything cooked from scratch with real love. They have eight kids who help run the restaurant, and from the second you walk in, you feel that this place runs on heart. The walls say things like "You are family here" and "We create memories & meals." The Wi-Fi password is literally "ThankYou." There are sticker machines, Pokémon cards, and Milky Way bars by the register. It's wholesome in the way that makes your nervous system relax. The hospitality is. Michele will call you sweetie and somehow never let your cup dip below half full. It's the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely cared for, not rushed or transactional. The menu is a treasure chest. We loved it so much we stopped on the way up and made explicit effort to come back on the way down. We ordered the country fried steak, steak omelet, chorizo omelet, and a breakfast sandwich... every single thing was incredible. Do not miss: * Biscuits and gravy (mandatory) * Chocolate chip pancakes * Country potatoes with bell peppers and onions (to die for) * House-made salsa -- genuinely some of the best I've ever had This place is the reason you take road trips the long way. If you're heading anywhere nearby, go here. Seriously.

Elderwood is located in the darling hotel in downtown Visalia on the rooftop, it's a small beautiful location with indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside the weather was nice but there was a bit of a breeze we asked of a heater could be brought closer to us in which it did when we were done with our dinner. My friend and I dressed up nice only to find people wearing sweatshirts sweats, jeans and whatever else they found in their closet next time I know I can just come as I am, but hey we dressed up to feel good and look out best and we did! Our server wasn't very attentive she only had one other table outside and didn't seem to engaged we started by splitting a Caesar salad and ordered a lemon drop martini, we sat and chatted then she took our entree order in which we both ordered the roasted chicken. The food came and it was absolutely delicious incredible flavor the chicken wasn't dry, we continued to catch up the server came by when we half way through our meal to check on us, we did have another drink with our dinner, the lemon drops were fantastic. Overall location was prime food and drinks were excellent and service was mediocre at best but again why do I even have my hopes up for? I need to go in expecting less so when it actually is average at best I won't be disappointed like I am, like I said in this economy if I'm willing to spend my money at least act like to you care to help is that too much to ask?

I had out of town guests this weekend and suggested going to the Elderwood restaurant. I've enjoyed…read morethis restaurant the dozen or so times I've gone. And have had excellent service, and superb food. However, tonight I have never been so embarrassed and disappointed. My friends got there before me and were all enjoying drinks and appetizers at the bar when I arrived. The restaurant was quite busy due to prom. Even the elevators weren't running properly due to kids wanting prom photos inside of them. I made it to the lounge and walked up to the bar to greet my friends, and was immediately confronted by a waiter who told me,"This isn't a standing bar, and there are no empty seats. You'll have to go down stairs and wait for us to let you know when a seat is available." I've never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my life. There are so many ways this could've been handled differently, politely discreetly, kindly, but this was the choice, to publicly shame me for greeting my friends and "standing" near them for less than 2 minutes. We were celebrating a friend, and were planning on drinks, appetizers, and dinner. With there being 6 of us, and that would have been a sizable check. I went down to the concierge, explained the situation, and asked who the manager was, only to be told that this is the restaurants policy. She looked at the video of the bar and said, "it is really crowded at the bar right now", to which one of my friends who left with me said,"yeah, that's our group, and now we are leaving". The concierge came over and gave me a card to contact someone else. But it was little too late. I can't recommend this restaurant due to such rude service.

They actually made bean burger patties for us even though they weren't on the menu, which was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated. They absolutely didn't have to do that, but their willingness to accommodate us really made the experience feel special and welcoming. Our waitress, Brooke, was amazing throughout the entire experience, so friendly, attentive, helpful, and genuinely accommodating. She made us feel comfortable and taken care of from start to finish. It's always meaningful when a restaurant is willing to work with dietary preferences instead of making you feel like an inconvenience. The kindness and effort from the staff did not go unnoticed. We left feeling very cared for and grateful. Definitely a place we'd return to again.

The onion rings were really good. Crispy but not greasy. The patty melt was ok. The burger was great. The flavors were there. The bread was lightly grilled I guess. Best food ever, especially The Legend burger. It is so big, my wife and I have to split it. The best time to go, for us anyway, is during the week for lunch. Not too busy. The restaurant still shares the ambiance of the Spike and Rail and Pea Soup Anderson's whom of which previously occupied the restaurant. Don't let the prices fool you. It may seem pricey, but, once you get your meal and you realize that your eyes were bigger than your stomach, you're going to need that "to go" box. Like I emphasized earlier, the prices are VERY fair for what you receive. For the Karen's who only rated 1 star need to go back to Mickey D's for their 5 star meal. LOL Mike

We sat at the bar and didn't get helped until about 10mins after while they sat everyone else. Unfortunately there was the "bartender" and one waitress for the whole restaurant. So sadly we were attended to as often as we needed. Like when the food came we had no napkins or utensils. We asked for some and took about 5mins to have them brought over. The bartender was very apologetic throughout but instead of saying sorry everytime she saw us help us out. My husband ordered the tritip sandwich with chili. The gave him fries so we had to ask for the chili. I got the pulled pork and sweet potato fries. Everything was good. We ordered a salad to go and it took less time than anything else.
