What a Gem! Leo was my server and was friendly and helpful. Reservations are highly encouraged. I…read morestarted with the Bruschetta which was fantastic! The bread was lightly toasted and flavorful and the tomatoes, Ripe! Followed by the Truffle Ravioli. Chefs kiss! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was divine. I ended with the pistachio tiramisu, which, although not incredibly authentic, still delicious! This restaurant deserves a 4.5 / .5 star due to the servers cutting and touching the bread with unwashed hands. I could have eaten here every night.

However, the food was just not good.. I would give the food a two. I had the truffle ravioli, and the noodles were severely overcooked. I even got one noodle that was so hard I could have broken a tooth. The sauce was gritty and runny at the same time. My husband ordered the tortellini. It was bland and lacked flavor. The wine list was disappointing. The best thing about our meal was the olive bread, and that was free! This restaurant was rated number 10 in Dresden with over 600 reviews on trip advisor. I'm still scratching my head and wondering why, this is not a place I would recommend to my friends and I definitely will not return here on my next trip through Dresden.

We ducked into Classico Italiano and are glad we did! My husband loved his pizza and I loved my primavera salad. A lemon sorbet with prosecco was a lovely, light sweet ending to our meal. We had had lots of delicious German food but were ready for a change and Classico Italiano provided that change of pace. This restaurant has lovely outdoor seating under umbrellas on Neumarkt. We sat inside due to the storm and enjoyed our cozy table. Service was attentive and friendly. If we are ever in Dresden again we will return!

I've visited Classico Italiano twice now, during separate visits to Germany and the food is consistently delicious. To start, we ordered the Carpaccio. The beef was so flavorful and given a nice drizzle of extra virgin olive oil & topped with arugula. I've had this appetizer at several other places in the past and Piazza Nova's certainly outshines in taste and freshness. The pizza I ordered was top notch: fresh ingredients and a crispy crust done to perfection. It is classic Italian style thin crust pizza with many choices for toppings. The wine list is nicely done with a variety of wines for every taste. For dessert, we split the Amaretto Sundae made with scoops of amaretto & chocolate gelato and topped with whipped cream, amaretto flavored wafers, amaretto liquor & chocolate shavings. This dessert is decadent but very deliciously so. The wafers became soaked with the amaretto liquor and added a nice texture to the wonderful softness of the gelato. A 5 star dessert. The only downsides: the service is fast but not necessarily friendly and the prices are definitely marked up for the tourists. But I have to say, all in all, this restaurant has won me over with their upstanding quality and overall superbly flavored dishes!

There is a chalkboard menu in German. They also have printed English menus available. Everything sounded really good to me. I settled on a pasta roll with "vegetable bread" that was served with chanterelle mushrooms. The description was odd and I didn't know what to expect. I even asked one of my traveling companions, a native German speaker, to translate the German menu item in case it just didn't translate well. I was thinking maybe it was seitan or a vegetarian "meat"loaf inside something like cannelloni? He translated it the same way. I ordered it partly out of curiosity and partly out of love for mushrooms. I'm glad I did. The dish is actually perfectly described. There is a bread-like filling with veggies in it, rolled up inside of a flat pasta and sliced. It was topped with chanterelles and salad greens. It was really good. My boyfriend ordered the campanelle with apples and gorgonzola and it was decadent and amazing. We visited in June so we sat outside. They have seating out front in addition to a patio in back. The space in back was full so we sat in front. It was pleasant enough. They had a nice wine list so I tried a Grauburgunder (apparently pinot grigio) at the recommendation of one of our traveling companions. I liked it. I could have happily eaten there again just to try other items on the menu but we had other places we wanted to try as well (and we're glad we did). This place is definitely worth a visit.
