The family has owned the property for 600 years. Previous generation sold wine by the barrel, hence the name. You can see previous generation on the main floor mural. Our room is newly remodeled as is the main floor check in and restaurant. Wonderfull view of the area from our private terrace. Clean comfortable beds and a memory making place to stay. Family are very attentive and speak good English. The restaurant is a gem. We liked everything including the fresh fish dishes.

We couldn't find a parking space and he helped us do that (parking in the Amalfi coast is nuts). The hotel room was clean and had everything we needed, and the balcony was better than I expected! it was larger enough for two lay out chairs and a table, and had a perfect view of the sea. There is beach access close to the hotel, it's a bit of a trek down twisting paths, but well worth it to get down there because it is a small and somewhere unknown beach area. There are two restaurants down there, where you can actually rent layout chair spots, order drinks, and hang around for the day. Get down there early though because they go. The hotel's restaurant had delicious food and was an enjoyable evening. So enjoyable we did it two nights in a row. They grow much of their own food on the property. I've never had such good lettuce in my life, no joke. They have an good selection of dishes, both sea and land. Their tortellini in cream sauce is delicious. Actually, it was all really good. They make their own wine, which I enjoyed. And the restaurant has a terrace area that is cozy and decorated in a fun way, and has a great view of the sea as well.

Incredible view of the endless ocean. The service was spot on. Funny note apparently they give the women menus without pricing and the men menus with pricing. I've never experienced that before. Not that it mattered. The food was amazing, apéritifs were fun little spoonfuls of amazingness. Crostini with prosciutto and a fried zucchini chip, arancini which is essentially fried risotto balls, and raw white fish with crunchy onion on top. Each dish had an excellent play on textures which I'm a huge fan of. Fish filet was perfectly cooked with the skin crisped up. Husband had the tenderloin with shaved truffles on top. Pallet cleanser of a light panna cotta was served as well. The desserts were playful and creative. I had a chocolate torte with a hazelnut cookie base and edible gold leaf. We also had a spicy sorbet which was tucked inside a light cake. Interesting and good. It sounded so odd ball we had to order it. The meal was memorable, food was plated and prepared with immaculate precision. I'm sure my description of the dishes don't do it justice. The cost? I think it was $300? give or take. Worth it? YES. You only live once..and as my mother would say you can't take your money with you.

At sunset the show is quite remarkable, with the gulf of Naples at your feet and the Vesuvius in the background. I recommend coming hungry enough for a tasting menu, always the best choice for restaurants of this caliber.

In this fashion, we were lured into this establishment by the owner while walking through the silent street on a gloomy afternoon. The open, airy space is pleasant and unpretentious. The welcome by waiters was more comparable to a greeting that a host would provide for guests into their own house. Being presented with a wide spanning menu felt completely unnecessary, as within moments of sitting down, the chef came out of the kitchen to greet and tell about the house specialties. The middle aged Italian man was dressed very cleanly and despite little knowledge of English, provided a better recommendation than one could ever desire from yelp or from the menu itself, which still laid untouched on the table. The prosciutto bruschetta was bursting with flavor of fresh, ripe tomatoes that gave off the sweetness of a cherry, the fullness of sun ripening and the flavor that can only be experienced in a dream. The paccheri pasta looked as beautiful as it tasted, in a pleasant green color and the flavor profile that one can only experience in select establishments. Amusingly from the name, the Carlo Alberto pizza was the least favorite of the dishes had here, but was very interesting. If coming through to visit Pompeii, do not miss this establishment.
