I highly recommend Dr. Jacob Kurian to heal any major traumatic injury, sports injury, aches, pain, literally any anatomical discomfort in the body. He is extremely wise, and cares wholeheartedly about his patients. Now, I'll tell you my story so you can fully understand where I'm coming from.
A little bit about myself...I'm 28 y/o and have been an athlete all my life. From being outdoors throughout my childhood always playing a multitude of sports, to playing varsity basketball in high school, to weight lifting and practicing Japanese martial arts throughout graduate school, I've always been highly active. Unfortunately, it started to take a toll on my body.
After doing some research, I set up an appointment at Dr. Kurian's practice. His staff were very helpful, courteous, and worked with me to best accommodate my schedule. Once I was in the office, one of his staff escorted me to the examination room where Dr. Kurian was waiting to first diagnose me. I told him a quick background of my extra circular activities, what was bothering me, and when the pain all started. He then proceeded to do literally over 40 different type of stretches of my shoulder and neck to see where the problem is coming from. Personally, I have a doctorate in pharmacy, and naturally I'm familiar with medical terminology. Curious with what he was thinking from a medical standpoint, I told him of my medical background and asked him to explain his findings. When I tell you, he went on a rant, combining such complex anatomical sentences together trying to explain to me the situation, all I can say, I was extremely impressed in the depth of knowledge he exuded. Let me remind you, he isn't some 70 y/o man, mad scientist looking kind of guy. He's a well put together late 30s to early 40s, with a good build, solid composure, and obviously a genius mind. From that first meeting, I knew he was my guy.
Now, it was time for the healing process to ensue. He'd have me do electric stimulation, and a bunch of strength and conditioning exercises, carefully curated from his extensive expertise in the field. At the end of the session, he'd work on rehabilitating my neck issues. This is where things got crazy. When I'd do a left side bend stretch for my neck, I'd get this pulsating headache on the right side of my head. The pain was excruciating. I told Dr. Kurian of the symptom from the deep stretch, and he made me stop immediately. We tried doing it again, and again the pulsating pain came back. I took a deep gulp, looked at the doctor, and said "Am I okay"? He looked slightly confused, then told me honestly, this could be a problem. What gave me comfort was I saw the look in his eyes that he was determined to figure it out. He then told me to bend my neck downwards, he put his fingers at a certain point in my neck (C1), I straightened my neck, and he squeezed very hard putting intense pressure in my neck and told me to bend again. Of course, the headache came back and he stopped. We repeated this process another three times, going lower and lower down my neck each time to try and isolate which part of the neck is causing me to have these headaches, but we came across the same problem. On the fourth attempt (with his fingers pressing deeply on C5-C6), I did the left side bend and the headache was gone! Relieved and alleviated, Dr. Kurian recommended I get a cervical spine MRI and told me that there is definitely something at the C5-C6 area of my neck that is blocking a vessel causing these headaches. I never even knew I had this problem! I was in shock at how good Dr. Kurian was at his craft.
Heeding the word of Dr. Kurian, I got an MRI. The exact words of the MRI printout, "There is a central and eccentric to right disc herniation with disc material flattening the ventral thecal sac and extending into the proximal right neural foreman, there is also encroachment on the right C6 nerve root within the neural foramen and ventrolateral canal. Moderate the severe left neural foraminal narrowing is demonstrated". In laymen's terms, that's what was causing the headaches. I couldn't believe how accurate Dr. Kurian was by simply touching and bending my neck. He even knew the exact spot the problem was happening! To say the least, I was extremely impressed. We continued working with each other 2-3x a week for the next 3 months. To this day, two years later, I have no more neck or shoulder pain.
I highly recommend working with Dr. Kurian. Along with his knowledge, when I tell you this man's hands are magic, they truly are. When he speaks to you his speech is simple yet eloquent, controlled yet emotional, respectful yet firm. He cares more than any doctor I've worked with, he loves his profession. You can tell, he was brought into this world as a healer. With passion, he heals your body and your mind. Above all else, and I say this wholeheartedly, he's a special human being. read more
