I have tendonitis, and instead of just skipping exercises that bother me and moving on, he gives me stretches, mobility work, and "homework" to strengthen the area so I can eventually perform the movements correctly and get stronger. It's refreshing to have a trainer who focuses on long-term progress instead of temporary workarounds. He also keeps me accountable outside of our sessions by checking in on my workouts and nutrition. Having a clear plan with specific goals has made it much easier to stay consistent and motivated to come in, and I really appreciate the encouragement along the way. He genuinely listens to my concerns, answers my questions, and takes the time to explain the "why" behind everything we're doing, which has helped me feel much more confident in the process. Our sessions are primarily strength training, but I also love how he finishes each workout with high-intensity supersets that end things with a bang before sending me off for 20 minutes of cardio. Every workout feels challenging, purposeful, and rewarding. My daughter's partner was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given a prognosis of 6-12 months. He is currently on SSI disability since he can no longer work so his income is very limited, and asked about a free membership, and the answer was a flat no. Just policy over people. For an organization that claims to be community-focused, that response was shocking and unexpected. He is facing overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial stress. Something as simple as access to a supportive, healthy environment could make a meaningful difference--yet the Everett YMCA chose bureaucracy over basic human decency. If this is how you treat people at their most vulnerable, then all the talk about "healthy living," and "social responsibility" is just marketing fluff.

5th grade camp was a hit! From the moment of bus drop offs to bus pick ups, Cedar Springs had every…read moreminute accounted for and planned out. Their system of organization and scheduling of daily events was impressive. Staff was incredibly gracious, especially while containing a hundred 10 year old boys and girls. Daily routine began with reveille at 0700 hours and ended at 10p with lights out. Survival classes were informative and included sessions like fire building, archery, stream studies, rock climbing, and forestry to name a few. Breakfast, lunch, and dinners were definitely elevated from a 'camp' menu with dishes like pork tenderloin, brisket, hot breakfasts, 24/7 coffee and tea for chaperones, side salads and dessert with every meal. I. Was. Im. PRESSED. They flip schools midweek, so if you're there from Wed-Fri, the previous school will be wrapping up lunch as you arrive and they depart. Schools never crossed paths and the transition was seamless. The cabins were 4 groups of 3 bunks with extra cots if needed. Working heaters and windows on every wall to air out during the day (highly recommended). It def got humid at night in the fall. Bathroom rotations were 10 mins per cabin which sounded like an impossible amount of time but worked out well. There were 11 showers in the main restroom with one being ADA accessible. 3 separate showers in the shared chaperone and employee restroom (which only had one working toilet). I preferred the main restroom but used it after lights out for my showers. No problems running out of stalls or showers. The bunks were rough for chaperone bones... wish I had brought extra padding to ease the sleepless nights after long days of trail walking, back to back events from 7a-9p, and dealing with a ton of 5th graders for 3 days straight! The bottomless coffee and tea helped keep us all upright! Overall, impressive meals, even more impressive staff, and impeccable scheduling!

We rode past lines of cars and along the back edges of the unbelievable tulip fields (where the tourists in their REALLY NOT FIELD-FRIENDLY OUTFITS were afraid to go) and have a million pictures to show for it. Many, many thanks to Derek (and his dad!) for making it such an easy, fun and memorable experience.

Engineered Sports has helped me recover fully after surgeries for multiple athletic related injuries. I find Lance and his p/t staff to be professional, knowledgable, and they really seem up to date on the latest practices, ideas, and equipment to provide me the fastest recoveries I have experienced. I have referred multiple athletes to Engineered Sports for rehab after they expressed frustration with how slow their initial recovery was going with a different provider. After working with Lance and his skilled pt staff, they noticed rapid improvement and finished recovery well ahead of schedule compared to where they had started rehab. I have really appreciated their expertise and I learned quickly that I could rely on their predictions for my recovery. My questions are always answered and having a massage therapist on site is very convenient. They dealt with my insurance, and L&I allowing me to fully focus on my recovery. Finishing my rehab so strong made me a believer in their philosophy for Strength and Conditioning. I have never felt stronger or more fully fit. Bob and has staff are always on the floor, answering questions, and offering little tips (and some bigger tips) and encouragement to help me get the most out of my training. I am constantly learning about better ways to improve my fitness because the staff continue to educate themselves. What I love the most about working out at Engineered Sports is the personal relationships I have with the staff. They really listen to me, pay attention to me and my personality, and know my history - all of which they work into the best fitness program to challenge and help me meet my goals. Whether you need Physical Therapy for an injury or are just looking for an intense workout program, this is the place! They offer specialized therapy and workouts for all athletes -- softball and baseball players, soccer players, hockey players, runners, gymnasts, volleyball players, etc.. They work with teams and individual athletes and have workouts that are geared towards the sport you are in, so you know you are getting an ideal workout every time. As a parent of a highly competitive rep hockey player, I was amazed at how the staff incorporated hockey moves into the workouts and made if fun and challenging for my son. I initially brought my son here for physical therapy for his shoulders, but continued coming back because of their awesome training program. Kudos to them!! And, for parents with athletes in concussion-prone sports, they also offer baseline concussion screening and follow-up down the road should a concussion occur. A one-stop shop for athletes . . . I chose PNW Physical Therapy initially because I needed to find a clinic within walking distance from my home. I had surgery on my shoulder which meant that driving wouldn't be an option for a couple of months. Andrew was my primary PT, but I also saw Kylie a couple of times and got to know a few others around the clinic (including the owner, Jamie, who is awesome!) over the ~4.5 months I was going. Every session was 1-on-1 for the full 50ish minutes, which was different than any other clinic I had been to. Each appointment started with some assisted stretching and mobility exercises before moving into range of motion and strengthening. Every exercise was demonstrated for me and my therapist always ensured I wasn't experiencing any pain or discomfort. My main interest was getting back to a place where I could golf again, and after a couple of months spent restoring my range of motion, we started doing exercises that were more tailored to my activity preferences. The office was cooperative with my financial circumstances and honest throughout the entire process, never trying to schedule my for excessive appointments or take advantage of the situation. I'm now happy to say that I've been cleared by my surgeon to resume full activity and he was very impressed with my progress over the months. Now that I'm all finished, it feels kind of weird to say that I'll miss going to physical therapy every week!
