Engine House Pizza was a great find. The pizza was fresh and really yummy you can definitely taste the quality in every bite. What stood out the most was the service. The guy making the pizza took the time to chat with us, and it turned into such a nice conversation. He made my family feel genuinely welcome, which made the whole experience even better. Stopped in here tonight around 940 to grab some pizza after a long day of just getting into salem and walking around etc. Time got away from us and it got late and walked by and it looked welcoming. Gentleman at counter was very friendly even though it was closer to closing time and there were multiple people before and after us well walking in for a bite to eat. He never got flustered or overwhelmed. It was clean and cozy and the pizza was the best we've had in a long time(from NC so you always hear about the northern pizza). It was refreshing to have friendly service and hot fresh food in a chill, relaxed vibe, (excellent music choices playing might I add, felt like we were back in the late 90s/early 2000s in a really good way) and caring about customers, harder to find these days. We will probably stop back in before we head home later in the week. Highly recommend. read more

I was in Boston for my niece's volleyball tournament and had the chance to check out Salem. We decided to have dinner here and it certainly did not disappoint. The pizza here is really good and came out hot and fresh. The crust was crispy (not overly crispy) and held the toppings well; the sauce was tasty. The price for two small pizzas, four drinks and mozzarella sticks was not super expensive and worth every penny. The mozzarella sticks were crispy and the cheese pull was great! Scott and the guy making the pizza were super nice and this place had a nice quaint ambiance. You had Miami Vice playing on the TV and all the good 80's songs playing...very 80's east coast pizzeria. IMO it's well worth a visit to this little gem. read more

A another pizza stop in my day in Salem. The only one that was reasonable prices. A slice of cheese and a coke for $5. Located right next the fire station this has a welcoming enviorment with a couple arcarde games in the back corner. Pizza was ok. I was staying at the Hampton Inn and was looking for pizza. I saw another pizza place online and was heading outside when I ran into someone delivering food. When I asked him about the other place, he told me that he worked at Engine House and he walked me to the shop. Everyone was extremely nice and they gave me double portions of pizza. It was very good NY Style and less than $3.50 a slice. Can't beat it! read more

Since the ownership changed in 2022, this once amazing pizza place has taken a total nosedive into garbage town. The pizza is hit or miss. When it's done right it's still good. But more often than not it's made with total apathy and it's terrible. Subs are a joke. And be prepared to hang around at the counter waiting for the guy to bothered to even acknowledge you're there and take your order. And when he does it's such a bother. It's the worst customer service I've come across. Engine House was a prime pizza spot for decades and now it's just pathetic. Walk across the street to Super Slice and I promise you'll have a better experience and get better food. read more

I genuinely have no idea how this place has a 3 star! This has been the To-go place in salem since I have been a child and they bomb (in a good way) every dish you get! No idea what was up but while waiting for my order the owner started shouting at and belittling a waitress out of nowhere. She left and he came over to try and apologize, I got up and left. One of my all time favorite pizza restaurants and I don't even live around Salem. The slices are really big and I love the thin style crust with a really nice flavored tomato sauce and a nice layer of mozzarella. What I really like about Engine House Pizza is that their menu is always evolving. I got a great deal on an Italian sausage with peppers and onions and the cost was only $6.50 where if you were to get one anywhere else it would be upwards of $12. We walked into this pizza joint after our Salem history tour. We ordered 2 large pizzas, but they were sooo good we ordered a third one! When I saw pictures on yelp I knew it was more of a "moms & pops" the kind of pizza you see in movies not some fancy hipster spot. Service was great! Called to just ask to replace the pizza since clearly it wasn't even fully cooked and was told the owner would call me back. He didn't so I called again and when he got on the phone, he argued with me and told me it was my fault. Pleasantly surprised by my experience after reading past reviews. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza, small Hawaiian, side Caesar salad and a side of spaghetti. I personally enjoyed their sauce and the pasta was cooked just right. You order at the counter when you're ready. The sides came out first right away and the pizza took a reasonable amount of time to cook. I loved the thin and crispy crust! The ambience is calm and relatively quiet enough to hold a good conversation. Everything was super clean as well. Parking spots like the building, we were lucky to snag just a couple of feet away from the entry. The staff was polite and helpful in recommending their top sellers. This post is to warn others to stay away from this establishment!! Not only was the dining room, tables, and floors filthy, but the trash barrels were also overflowing onto the floor! The door to the street was open, letting flies and mosquitoes in, which I believe was an attempt to try to cool down the interior of the shop. The cashier behind the counter was busy chatting on their cell phone and gave little attention to me or other customers waiting to order.
