Some of the best peaches I've had in a long time! Wish we lived closer to visit more oftenread more

We stopped at Studebakers's Farm Stand for a couple reasons. First it wasn't a large brick and mortar and second the focus was peaches ! It is a medium size building-a barn type structure with multiple wooden fruit stands inside. The peaches are beautifully displayed in baskets of varying sizes, the size determines the price. The young lady who assisted me was very nice and helpful too! (Despite the fact that it was 103' outside-the structure provided shade but it was still quite hot!-my temperament changes a bit when I have to be out in that oppressive heat!) Before I go on-imagine how a perfectly shaped peach, at the height of ripeness smells....that heavenly pure peach smell was so intoxicating and it was the first thing I noticed upon entering the fruit stand!! Believe me, I had to practice severe restraint not to get several bushels because I could easily imagine making Peach Pie, Peach Cobbler and Peach Jam....maybe even Peach Ice Cream ....I regress! I advised I was looking for a peach that's best eaten from the hand...(they are a very low calorie option) and I asked if she could make a recommendation. She said they offered six varieties and she recommended two that were touted for their sweetness. I chose a beautiful basket of a golden peach variety-sadly I forgot to photograph them in the basket as I was one of only two customers so she was able to quickly but carefully place them in a brown paper bag and complete our transaction. I'm adding a photo of them on my drying rack-we had already eaten three prior to snapping the pic. I can't even remember the last time I tasted such an incredibly delicious peach. Bite after bite-the perfect taste of ripeness as if I had plucked it directly from the tree, just firm enough so I was able to eat it easily while avoiding making a sticky mess, yet so juicy bite after bite. Honestly I was truly amazed at the flavor. If you are near Fredericksburg, I would highly recommend you stop. They have peaches pretty much thru September. You'll need to be on the lookout. It sits back just a bit from Highway 290-as you come in from Austin it will be on your left about 7 miles before you reach downtown Fredericksburg. Enjoy !

Great old fashioned fruit & produce stand with fair, affordable prices…read more Talk about great customer service!! This is a fine example of the old style farm market stand. We were just coming through on our way to a funeral in Kingsland so we passed it on the way and made a point of being sure we came back that way so we could stop! I can't wait to taste my purchases. It was quite evident that about two out of every three customers were repeat as they knew Keith and he knew them by name! I bought stonewall peaches, a nice basket of freshly picked green beans, fresh ears of corn, and beautiful slicing tomatoes (Oh yes, great tomato sandwiches with either mayo or miracle whip coming right up!) I also got one of the Mason County sweet cantaloupes. The watermelon looked awesome but not sure who I could share it with so did not get it this time. Hoping they are still in season when we return! Keith Lee Mills is the owner operator and evidently quite often on site helping customers with their purchases. My gosh he even helped me to the car with mine! I'll be adding pictures of my purchases as soon as I am able to photograph them properly.
