My now fiance proposed to me in May 2023 with the help of Engaged on Maui! It took place at the beautiful Haiku Mill. It was absolutely perfect and I was completely surprised! This review is long overdue because quite frankly, I have been trying to figure out the correct words to describe how much I appreciate the Engaged on Maui team. A quick review at their gallery and you can see that they do incredible work. However, I think it is more important to note that they are incredible people who genuinely care about making your once in a lifetime moment as special as possible. I planned on proposing in Maui in the middle of September 2023. For the longest time I envisioned planning a luxury picnic by the beach in Hawaii. And that was what we had planned with the help of Maui Luxury Picnics, who is run by Christine who also does amazing work. I worked with Tiffany, the office manager at Engaged on Maui, who made me feel so comfortable and informed at all times. Everything was seamlessly planned, then of course the Maui wildfires happened. As you can imagine we lost communication for a bit. It was a heartbreaking and a helpless feeling to see what was happening to the island especially after I had been in constant communication with Tiffany and Christine who had been so generous to me. After some thought, we decided to pivot to Kauai. Now enter Angie, the owner of Engaged on Maui. I was able to connect with her after I saw a post of hers on Instagram. To my surprise, she assured me that they were still able to work with me, even on Kauai. I was so thrilled and shocked to hear it. It also made me feel much better that while we were now going to a different island, that I would still be supporting a small business that was affected by the fires. Over the next couple weeks Angie got to work with me to quickly re-plan a new proposal. One thing about me is that I have a ton of anxiety and occasionally will stress out over the smallest of issues. I'm sure if Angie ever reads this she will adamantly agree with that last line! Despite how chaotic Angie's life had become over the past month, she was with me every single step of the way to assure that this would go as smooth as possible. She was always more than happy to answer even the most insignificant of questions. Very quickly my anxiety over this planning had faded and it just became pure excitement all thanks to the care and attention Angie and her team gave me. Ultimately, I ended up proposing on Kauai behind CJM Stables, right where Heritage Trails is. The photographer Angie connected me with was named Sandy Swift and the picnic company I used was called Kauai Luxury Picnics. Both did an incredible job as well as you can see by the pictures. We were speechless at how amazing the pictures and album came out. This was the best day of my life and I have Engaged on Maui to thank for it. You'll spend thousands for a normal photoshoot, nothing special. Then you aren't allowed to see your photos until you get on a 60 minute zoom call and you have to pick and pay thousands more to own a handful of your own photos. Overpaying for digital downloads is crazy. The photos are okay, no editing, just a weird filter that washes the color out. Maybe we got a bad editor because our photos don't look vibrant and colorful like the ones advertised. Better off hiring an instagram photographer that won't keep your photos hostage. read more

This review is long overdue, but I was recently reminded of both the incredible engagement that we had as well as the highly concerning post-engagement process. Pre-Engagement- communication and responsiveness was excellent. I felt confident in the plan we had put together for a proposal on the beach and absolutely loved the message in a bottle idea. Engagement- it was absolutely amazing. We had such a good experience with our photographer who's name alludes me, but both the engagement photos and post engagement photo shoot were truly exceptional. The bad... Post Engagement- EoM insisted after our teaser engagement photo was shared that the only way for us to view the rest of the photos would be through a 60 minute "design consultation". Considering how big of a moment was being captured that felt incredibly rushed. We wanted to relive this moment in peace and have time to digest it! Additionally, that was our only chance to view the photos before picking a small handful for our album. If you want to view them again? Pay $500. Our photos were literally being held hostage. After a long back and forth we were able to pay $100 to just view the photos before the consultation and thank god we did. Because being forced to rush through photos, quickly pick them, then decide the order you want for your album would have been very stressful and likely forced us to pay the exorbitant $100/photo cost for additional photos we didn't actually need. Tbh I think this is why they switched to this model, to put you in a difficult position and induce you to spend more (previously they did allow you to view the photos on your own time FWIW). The design consultation itself was a bit of a joke also. Considering they value this 60 minute session at "$500", we expected more than what seemed to be an intern going through photos with us and copying them into the free version of the Apple design editor. We had a magical proposal on the beach, so I don't regret going with this company. But the way they operate once you've gotten engaged is such a blatant money grab, it spoiled our impression of this company. read more

Angie's team, specifically Fawn and Amber, were SUPER helpful and awesome to work with in planning our engagement. Being based in SF, I had to do everything remotely and over the phone. This is where the EOM's experience and the fact that they focus on engagements really helped as they knew all of the good sites (along with the nuances of each) and providing good suggestions (such as not keeping the ring box in my pocket on the day of the engagement). In terms of the actual photography, our pictures turned out FANTASTIC! We got a number of great poses and the shoot felt very natural and easy. The editing of the photos was also done really well and many of our family and friends have told us how great the pictures turned out. Thanks to Google, I found Engaged on Maui online. For someone that is a perfectionist, I wanted to make sure the most important day of my life was perfect because my fiancee deserves it. Perfection is rarely done alone, and you need help to make sure perfection is attained. This is where EOM and Angie came in. After reading through EOM's "Recent Proposals" section of the website, I knew instantaneously I wanted to do it up in the heavens at the Haleakala Summit during sunset. After numerous phone calls and email exchanges (Gents... make sure you delete or hide your emails), Angie put together a customized detailed plan for the proposal with exact timings. However, even the best of plans go awry especially with Mother Nature. On the day of the original proposal date, the weather was not cooperating. Before getting engaged, one thing I always hoped my to-be fiance Joey knew without me having to tell him was to hire a photographer. Capturing that moment is something you can have forever and as someone who is in love with photography, it seemed like a no-brainer to me. You get a ton of pictures of your wedding day - why not pictures of when the journey begins? Apparently Joe was a mind reader (or just really intuitive) because my future husband hired Engaged on Maui before our trip to the island this May. Obviously, I was not involved in the process leading up to the actual day, but from what my fiance said, Angela was super helpful, a complete joy to work with, and flexible when our plans changed at the last minute. As a local, she was able to recommend some of the best, most beautiful places on the island for Joey to pop the big question. She helped to choose the secluded, romantic, and completely breathtaking backdrop of Oneloa / Ironwoods Beach for us. She was super sneaky and I had no idea what was coming. It was only after I said "Of course" that my fiance pointed out Angela a bit down the beach clicking away. After getting the whole proposal (tears and all) captured, she proceeded to spend the next two hours doing a full engagement shoot with us on the beach. She had us climbing over rocks, dancing on the beach, playing in the ocean...all against a beautiful sunset and view of Molokai in the background. A few hours after the shoot, she sent us a teaser with four AMAZING shots for us to share with our friends and family. A few weeks later, the whole set was available and the photos were breathtaking. Three weeks ago, I proposed to my fiance at the Westin with the help of their staff and Angela. Quite simply, a ridiculously detailed engagement somehow went perfectly with the help of these ladies and I couldn't be more appreciative. I contacted Angela only two weeks prior to the engagement, but the short notice was handled amazingly by her. Even though she was enjoying a vacation in South America, she was prompt in her email replies to me and the plans were set before she even made it back home. We had a short phone conversation a few days beforehand to ensure everything was perfect, she gave me some great ideas to keep it all a secret and ensure the photographs were excellent, and we were off! The day of the engagement, I had a scheduled private, ocean view sunrise breakfast planned at the Westin. Brooke, my fiance, had no idea the breakfast was happening, much less the engagement or photo session. Breakfast began at 6:30 AM (we were still jet lagged), I handed the ring off to the server on the way to the table, and he was scheduled to bring it out at 7:30 AM. Angela arrived 15-20 minutes early to spy on us and get some fantastic shots of the clueless fiance, and then the actual proposal itself! Everything went perfectly, she took some of the best quality engagement shots you'll ever see, and then we were off to do the engagement session. Angela treated us to another three different locations - a secluded beach with a full rainbow in the background, the hillside before a massive coffee farm, and another wonderful beach with a massive tree and endless aqua ocean. In total, Angela took care of us for at least 90 minutes, likely closer to 120, and we wouldn't have had it any differently. The day of the shoot, Angela sent over 3 fully edited photos for us to make the big announcement online. All of them were beyond expectations, even after seeing her other work, and only about ten days later did we receive the full set - over 120 fully edited images! Angela was simply fantastic. There's nothing more I could have asked for. She went above and beyond the promised service, which was already the best available. If you're looking for a fantastic personality with even greater photography skills, Angela is the photographer for you. read more

Originally the plan was just the sweetheart session, but as circumstances changed and the feelings were right, a surprise engagement was absolutely the right thing to do. Angela was actually referred to us from another photographer. This shows that she is also respected and liked by other professionals. When I contacted her the process was very easy and she took the time to get to know us to pick the absolutely perfect locations for the session. I emailed back and forth questions and a suggestions several months before our session till the very last day. Angela was always a consummate professional answering all my questions and considering all my suggestions. I asked for a separate email to send to my girlfriend that mentioned nothing about the proposal, to eliminate any possible suspicions. I discussed with Angela what my girlfriend likes and loves, what locations, sunrise or sunset, and to how the proposal will happen. I didn't have a fancy way of proposing, I just wanted to get the proposal out of the way in the first 10 minutes so we can move on the engagement session. I suggested the idea of having a secret word between me and Angela during the session to signify that we are both ready and set up for the proposal. The secret word was "marvelous". We all met at the Ho'okipa Beach, Northern Maui. The proposal went perfectly, as Angela said, "this view is marvelous" and I replied "it truly is marvelous" to confirm both parties are ready. The proposal photos were breathtaking. The colors of the sunrise sky, the beautiful waves, and the cliffs to bring out even more contrast. To make the moment even more special was the multiple locations we went to in one session. It was easy to go from place to place by following her in our jeep rental. We went down to the beach to take pictures with the sea turtles (which my fiancée loves). We also took some photos at a sea wall and at the stairs heading to the beach. Here I purchased leis from Angela to add to the session. They were excellent touches to the pictures and brought a truly Hawaiian cultural feel to it. We also went to an empty road that was surrounded by sugar can fields and tall trees. It was very artistic. We went to another beach by Mama's Fish House (amazing food) and took photos dancing, sitting on a palm tree, and posing at a rustic gate. Finally the photo shoot ended at the Paia Coffee Shop, where the photos where very colorful and warm. It was such a great experience and we enjoyed exploring beautiful parts of Maui with Angela. She was so easy to talk to and it never felt uncomfortable or awkward. She made us very at ease in front of the camera and we appreciated her patience and guidance throughout the whole process. We never felt rushed and time was never wasted. It meant so very much to us that she captured such a special moment in such a beautiful way. These photos are absolutely priceless. If you're a guy looking to do something nice for you girl, then this is it! My fiance absolutely loved it. I'm not that much of a romantic guy but I wanted to do something nice for my girl and started to google, "wedding photographers" and "engagement photographers." So I found Angie and looked through her website. Although I did consult with other photographers I ultimately choose Angie because she was congruent with the concepts I had in mind. I wanted to do a simple proposal on the beach and have the moments photographed. As I doing my research, I notice most photographers do weddings of family photos; and this wasn't what I was trying to achieve. Then I realized that you cannot hire a wedding photographer to take engagement photos. They simply are different entities. So, if you're a guy, you're looking to propose and you want it to be captured, then hire Angie. This is her profession: her strength is helping clueless guys perform surprise proposals. I chose the 'perfect package.' We had a phone consultation and brain storm different ideas. Then on the big day, we covertly texted each other about where to meet up. My fiance was oblivious to my secret planning of this proposal and the raw emotions were captured. This is photos you see on Angie's site: girls gushing there eyes out that her man finally asked for her hand in marriage. Angie knows all the secret beaches and places to go. She took us to three different places to complete our 1.5 hr session. During the shoot, I would suggest that you move slowly so that the moments are captured. For example, when you kiss, hold it for 3 seconds. If you pick up your lady and swing her around, do it slower so that Angie can catch it. Angie was great to work with and she told us she had our photos ready in 14 days, but got them out to us in 10. We cannot recommend Angie enough. I proposed to my fiancee on Maui in 2016, and Angie went above and beyond the call of what I expected from a photographer to make the moment even more magical than I could have imagined. The photos turned out beautifully, and my fiancee and I could not be more pleased. First, even before the proposal itself, Angie was friendly and so helpful in the planning process of the engagement. I had a vision of how I wanted the proposal to go, but because I was not in Maui or familiar with the locations, there were several things I needed help planning, and Angie delivered. She recommended a beach that fit the proposal I had in mind and even sent me video/photo to help me visualize what that beach looked like. The day of the proposal, she also set up the X on the ground and the rocks surrounding it because I couldn't leave my fiancee to do those preparations. She answered questions that I had about the weather, the location, etc. and I felt so much more confident and comfortable because of her help. Second, during the actual shoot, she was lovely to work with. She hid during the proposal, and my fiancee had no idea that she was there. Then, during the photo session, she was friendly and helped us to feel comfortable and ourselves. I have never done a photo shoot before, and I was nervous about feeling awkward or not knowing how to propose, but she really did a great balance of instructing us and allowing us to be ourselves with each other. Because of that, I think her photos really captured who we were! Lastly, and most importantly, the photos she took turned out beautifully! Breathtaking. She knew exactly where to go and what to do. We absolutely loved them, and we couldn't be happier. When we showed them to our family and friends, everyone else was equally impressed. She took a great variety of photos - close-ups, distance shots with gorgeous backgrounds, tender and intimate shots, fun and silly shots, really everything.
