Update: Paid over 60K for the install and would have definitely chosen a different company at this point. Having more problems with my panels as there are several showing as not working. My initial installs had issues that caused a short in my panels and was not producing energy for a while. No remedy or incentive was offered that time. Also, tried calling the office today and still no one answers which was my experience last year. Do not buy into their pitch of local service is better. I would rather have a company with more employees and infrastructure to have quicker response times and customer service. read more

We installed our solar with them just last year. For this past week our panels were showing as not producing energy on our SunPower app. We have been trying to contact them for the whole week. I was able to talk to someone the first time I called on 3/18 and was told they would pass the message to their service coordinator. I did not get a call back. I kept calling and leaving a message every day that I don't get a call back, apparently they are always busy with other customers . On 3/21 Finally they pick up and they knew exactly who I was saying my name and they told me they have been leaving messages for the coordinator every time I call and leave a message. It would have been nice for someone to call me back saying that they got my message instead of not saying anything at all making me feel like I'm not being heard. Later a guy calls and leaves me a message saying they will have someone out to check my panels on Monday 3/24. On Monday someone did come but didn't come to the door to talk to us. He looked at some things and just left without a word. We have no clue if he was able to fix or not fix the issue or if he was going to come back or not. Tuesday 3/25 I called them to see if I can get some info or updates and of course nobody answered my call and I just leave yet another message. I honestly feel like they are ignoring me. At least call me back so I know you got my message and you haven't forgotten about your customer. When we were starting out with them it was never this hard to talk to them but now it's like they're just done with us. I'm so sad because I really had high hopes for them. read more

I would give a zero, however I can't. I was grossly undersold and have huge true-ups every year. I pay $250 for monthly payments and still get a true up once a year. This year it is $1,906 plus I still pay monthly PG&E charges. In total I'm paying what I did before solar. I have contacted the company on three different occasions to try and get more solar panels and I have received zero response. There is no need to get solar if your savings are zero. I wish I had gone with another company but they convinced me that since they are local we would get excellent treatment. Nothing could be further from the truth. read more

All other solar companies' 20-year savings calculations were 25% to 100% higher than Energy Concepts' calculations. The high dollar savings were likely exaggerated by unknown future energy costs. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU USE ENERGY CONCEPTS FRESNO. Had solar panels install on my roof based on their service guarantee. Any damage to the roof would be repaired and a 25yr leak guarantee. Well, we are in the process of selling our home and a roof inspector informed us of multiple broken tiles and exposed areas of the roof where the broken pieces had fallen away. I reached out to Energy Concepts and spoke to Briana & Andrew to express my frustration that this was damaged and not repaired. Home Buyer has now requested that another company repair as they do not feel comfortable that Energy Concepts Fresno will properly repair the damage from this exposure. When I sent the info for the repairs, I can't get a reply from the company. I call and email but being avoided. So as long as you have ZERO issues, they will take your call. My husband and I thought solar was a SCAM ever since it came out but due to high cost of PG&E we felt we had no other choice but to go solar. We chose Energy Concepts and regret it because we felt like the representative that helped us lied about the amount we were being charged and the tax credit we would be getting at the end of the year to keep our monthly payment low. We were only credited back around $12K for our solar and we didn't realize the amount to keep our monthly payment at $289 we would have to pay back to the solar company in the amount of $22,863.43. We have 19 Panels on our roof and had to put on a new roof which was added on to the loan in the amount of $12,250.00. After reaching out to the financial department of SunPower and asked why our financed amount stated $45,717.47 (which is the amount of the panels and new roof) but the amount financed was $76,211.43 ($30,493.96 over what we were told our total amount was) which is the amount we are paying. They said we don't know you will have to contact Energy Concepts. For those of you that don't know, Energy Concepts is its own company, however, they partner with SunPower and sell their panels. Long story short representative failed to mention that the added $30,493.96 was to buy down our RATE to 3.99% (which we were not told). My husband grilled the representative with questions to make sure we understood it fully before signing anything but we felt if you have someone working for your company they better answer your questions truthfully because they represent Energy Concepts. The way we understood it from the representative was that we were going to be charged $45,717.47 for the solar and roof and the max credit they would lend us was $76,211.43. We were never told the extra $30K was to buy down our rate! Trust no one, and if they tell you something get it in WRITING ON THE CONTRACT and have them sign and date it. Verbal does nothing in court only what's on PAPER. This is why many companies put everything in terms you can't understand and then and when you try do your due diligence in asking questions to make sure you understand it, they don't fully disclose to you how it works so they can get you to sign their contract and rip you off. Thanks Energy Concepts for the lies and for costing my family and arm and leg as we struggle to put food on our table! Beware consumers. Ask questions from multiple representatives of the company and get everything in writing! Companies/Representatives don't care, as long as they make their $$$. HONEST, EFFICIENT, PROFESSIONAL & LOCAL are some of the words to describe Energy Concepts. We were in need of some service on our owned solar system that was installed by a company that disappeared when we started losing efficiency and needed repairs. Energy Concept was one of the few companies that would even come out to talk to us let alone work on someone else's system. Jason was awesome at explaining our options and what was needed to update our system and reduce or eliminate our end of the year true-up. He took his time with us, gave us a fair price and was not pushing at all. We decided to have Energy Concepts put optimizers on our panels so they would all supply power independently rather than be limited to the lowest producing panel on the "string". This included a new inverter. He also had 7 panels left in the warehouse that he gave us a fair price for. Jim came out and checked on the repair/installation on the first day and figured out a better configuration for us to gain power and still keep the 7 new panels separate from the old ones. The crew worked tirelessly in the hot sun for three consecutive days and were extremely polite and courteous. Each day they told me what they had gotten done and when they would be back. They also cleaned up EVERYTHING each day! Once they got into the job they discovered problems with the wiring and rack system and ended up replacing everything. They also fixed the wiring in the attic and ran conduit through the attic which eliminated a potential fire hazard. Not only did they do the extra work without complaint they stuck to their original quote. We now have a system which I can monitor from my computer and my meter is spinning backwards longer and faster than ever! When I asked for a cleaning, she just quoted me a price. When I asked why so expensive. The brilliant reply was,..."you get what you pay for". No explanation for what that included either. I had to ask what it included! Her reply is what turned me away. I ended up showing the quotes just to get a quote out of them. This is the company to get your solar through! I was interested in getting solar installed at some point, so a friend of mine referred this company to me. The first person to contact me was Matthew Payne, one of their sales reps, and he is the primary reason we choose to do business with Energy Concepts, and even solar altogether! He's a talker, that's for sure, but throughout the course of the conversations he gave me all the info I would have wanted and/or needed to feel comfortable and confident in my purchase decision. The first time we met, he was on time, prepared to give me a well thought out presentation, and willing spend as much time as I needed. Before the meeting, he had already drawn up multiple options on leasing/purchasing, different brand panels and equipment, various timeframe finance options, and was able to quickly break down what each option meant to me and my needs. What I really appreciated was that he was not pushing me towards one specific option or brand, he wasn't pushing me to buy a larger system than what I needed, and didn't use any nonsense "used car salesman" tactics. He followed up with me a few days later, and we came to a deal. At this point I assumed it would just become a standard contractor job, wrong. The excellent service continued well past the time I said "yes" to the sale. Everything at this company is in house, all the finance folks, the installers, sales folks; they all work for the same company, and therefore there was never a sense of "that's not my job" from any level. Additionally, there was a great sense of continuity across the teams. The sales admin, Kerri Lawler, was the next person I interacted with. She was excellent. She emailed me every single week to update me on the progress of my permits/ordering/design layout/install date. Even if she didn't have big news, she'd updated me as to where we stood on my system. I never once got the feeling that I was lost in the system, or just another sale. She served as an excellent intermediary between the sales rep and the install team. The final piece of the experience was the system install. The design had previously been drawn up by their in house designer, so when the installers showed up they reviewed with me the pans they already had, and what they were looking to accomplish that day. The team was lead by Justin Semrick, who was an absolutely pleasure to interact with! He was polite, professional, and very much aimed to please. I was adamant about not having conduit running across the roof, I really wanted the panels to appear as if they were floating on the roof. Apparently, that was less than easy to accomplish; but on the job site, Justin and Wallie Tavares figured out a way to make it happen. What was likely to take just an hour or so took closer to 2 1/2 because of the complexities. Any other company would have noped right out of there, but once I said I wanted it, Justin and Wallie were determined to make it happen. Fast forward to end of the install, I was EXTREMELY pleased with the work they did. It looks flawless, not a single piece of conduit on the roof, and the floating panel look I was really looking for. Furthermore, they didn't leave a mess anywhere, cleaned and painted everything they put up, and made the install look like it came with the house. Before they left they showed me all the equipment, how it all worked, and what the next steps with the city would be (which they all set up, throughout the entire process I did not have to do a single thing with the city/PG&E, it was all handled by Energy Concepts) This company truly did an outstanding job. Their service was far above par, and they all worked with the collective vision that their job was to EARN my business. I cannot recommend them enough!! TL;DR This company is incredible. Excellent experience from the initial sales visit until system activation. We looked at bids from 3 other companies, and chose Energy Concepts for their competitive pricing, the knowledge that all equipment was single source from Sunpower, and that they are a Central Valley business (although two other companies were also relatively local). Once we had accepted their bid, most steps went very smoothly. The installation was completed in a single day by a very easy to work with and cheerful team. When we noticed that the arrangement of the panels was going to lead to a roof feature being asymmetrically placed, they moved the panels that were already installed and corrected their placement. All quite happily on a typical August afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a better crew. We then had to wait a couple of weeks because of a minor glitch with Fresno County (non-concordant address between Public Works and PG&E, which was no fault of Energy Concepts), but after that the system was activated rapidly, we had a very informative site visit with customer service to go over the monitoring app and online interface, and after a remarkably rapid response from PG&E, were swiftly functional. Quick and excellent service, knowledgable staff, superior product and price. We first heard of Energy Concepts on the radio, and was further recommended by a friend hearing good things about them from others. We did our due diligence reaching out to several solar providers, Sunrun through Costco, Solar Negotiators, and one other i cant remember. Energy Concepts had an online intake form, from which their rep Kelli Lawler would respond and set up a consult with Henry Macias. These two would be our primary points of contact. Kelli would provide us regular updates and keep us on track. I was most impress that when i submitted my request Kelli had responded by email shortly after and was able to arrange the appointment with me even though it was very late in the evening. Henry would come and answer our various questions on everything solar. He was able to educate us on panel degradation, system requirements etc. Ultimately we decided to go with Energy Concepts not just because of price to value but because of the rapid response to our questions and because Henry made us feel as if he truly had our interests in mind. I believe they put their best deal and foot forward not trying to provide more or less than what was necessary. SunRun and the other company we looked at were more than 6000 more for a comparable system. Solar Negotiators led with a slightly lower price and had lower interest financing but what appeared to be a lesser quality system. After our own research we agreed that energy concepts sunpower panel quality was worth the small cost difference. When it came to install I was notified of the date but didnt clarify what time they would arrive, however Walter and his team were always professional and were able to complete the solar and run an attic install all in one day. To minimize the visual of running a line across the roof running through the attic makes it look better. The next day they came to paint match the wall and get us instruction on how to use the monitoring app. A week or so later we were given permission to operate the system.
