A simple door order turned into 6 months of unreturned phone calls, excuses, lies and blaming…read moreeveryone else but themselves. They fired the first guy we dealt with, and everyone else we talked to thereafter was just as incompetent, but with less personality. I understand delays but nobody there had the time to call or update us whenever there was an unexpected delay (which happend 3 times I think, I lost track). The doors sat in their warehouse for a good month after coming in, then after I called to see what was going on we waited another 6 weeks while they figured out how to paint them. Week 7, I heard nothing, so I called again: "Our trucks were 'down', it will be another 1, maybe 2 weeks before they can be painted", so I called on week 3 after hearing nothing, again, and they were finally done! The only person worth receiving the money I spent on the doors is the delivery guy, Bobby, who showed up unexpectidly because Harvey couldn't be bothered with confirming a delivery time. Not only did Bobby wait until I returned home from dropping my kids off at school, but he delivered the doors in the rain. Shout out to Bobby; give that guy a raise. Best part: we had to calculate the correct amount for the paint and paint labor refund for them. They couldn't even figure that out- I'm sure they'll blame that on the guy they fired though like everything else.

I own a house in the Madison area and I had a window crack recently. The window repair companies I…read morecalled said I needed to know the brand of the windows before they could move forward. I found that WBS supplied the materials to build this house and contacted them. Leroy at WBS went above and beyond to help me figure this out. He gathered my information and he stayed in touch with me throughout the lengthy process to get in touch with the rep etc. He even called to let me know that he was on it even though we might be waiting a while. He was always polite and answered all my questions which I appreciated as someone going through this for the first time. If this is how they treat people who don't do direct business with them, then they must take care of of their customers even better.

Short version: These guys were very knowledgeable, very helpful, and quick to respond. We had a…read moretough situation and they were up for the challenge. We love the way our hardwood floors look. They are worth the wait (booked 2-3 months out) Long version: We had water damage in our kitchen. We needed the damaged floor replaced and the rest of the first floor sanded and stained to match. No easy task since our floor was 17 years old. After they sanded, stained, and sealed the floor, we realized that the original builder (17 years ago) put a 2 foot by 10 foot strip of pink looking red oak in the middle of the white oak floorboards in the living room. This was imposible to see because of the tinted stain that was put on the floor to cover up the fact that the wood didn't match. Jon, our sales guy, came out on a Saturday to talk it over with us. They worked with us to squeeze us into their schedule despite being booked 3 months out. He even came and tore out the red oak himself since all of the other workers were tied up. They took out the red oak and put new white oak back in and now you can't tell at all. Honestly, I thought we were screwed. We did have to pay for them to come back to do it since it wasn't their screw up.

Communication with both them and the company was very good. I would highly recommend them.

In this era of big box hardware stores, I really appreciate this locally-owned and operated store…read morenearby. While the store looks small from the outside, its inventory of products is surprisingly robust, allowing me to avoid the aggravation of shopping at the Madison Home Depot. While their prices are slightly higher, I save time and gas money by shopping locally. What I like most about the Waunakee Ace is the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I never have to search for an associate or wait helplessly at the help desk. Whether I need a certain type of wall hangers, the best paint option to touch up the bathroom wall or the right type of putty to repair a traditional plaster wall, the staff here patiently advises me on the pros and cons of each option. They make my trips to the hardware store soooo much faster and easier than any visit to a big box store. Other things I like: * Finding a good parking spot is always a breeze. * The Ace Rewards card offers rebates in the form of coupons based on how much you spend there. Even with my sporadic purchase history, I've received at least $50 of free stuff over the past couple of years.

So I called Window Design Center on Tuesday and I got a prompt call back from Jody, who is in charge of service. On Thursday afternoon, he came to our house and within a minute had shown me that nothing was broken- that the window had just come out of its track. He showed me how to avoid this in the future. And he informed me that there would be no charge for the service call! I couldn't be happier with Window Design Center throughout this entire process from selecting the windows, to doing the precise measurements necessary for our custom windows, and I'm really pleased with the service they provided last week.
