Kitchen & Bath LLC are incompetent plumbers, poor project planners, and OK bathroom tilers…read more Plumbing problems started during the planning phase, when they told me the sink did not need a an overflow, but I didn't think that was right, so I ordered one with an overflow. Thankfully I was correct, since the sink that they sell does have an overflow. I imagine other customers may have had big problems with the overflow after following their bad advice. I had to purchase the bath tub and bath fixtures. We had asbestos glue under the tile and a tub coated with lead, so I had an abatement company due the demo since Kitchen & Bath did not seem to have the expertise to do it. They claimed they could do it, but did not provide any licensing IDs for asbestos and lead removal. These additional costs are not included in the services provided by Kitchen & Bath and reviewed here. On the other hand, I removed the old plastic tub/shower wall cover and installed the mirror and light by myself. After the demo occurred, it was obvious that the plywood floor needed to be replaced. Alberto argued that they could install new plywood on top, but I disagreed. Mold and rot were a big problem, so I wanted it replaced. He delayed the project by 1 week because he was going on vacation and didn't trust his workers to take the floor out correctly without him around. No one from the company arrived at the time they said they would (early the first day, always late after). I work from home, and there was one day where I told them I had an appointment at 10:30, so they needed to show up before 10:30. They arrived at 10:30, when I was walking into the doctor's office. When I called the project lead (and owner) Alberto back after my appointment, he was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. The tiling install guy was late by a few hours and worked until after 8 pm. I have 2 kids and I could not get them ready for bed while this guy was working. The drywall and paint guy always showed up several hours late and could never arrive at a specified time. One day the guys showed up to work for an hour and then left for the day. The project should have taken 9 days but took two weeks because of these late starts and poorly planned work days. There are several small defects that a good contractor would have fixed or avoided, like scraped paint or chipped cabinet surface. These were minor. Every plumbing fixture leaked after the install was complete: the shower, sink handles, and toilet, in that order. I had my own plumber fix it due to Kitchen & Bath's continued incompetence in this area, costing over $250. I am very angry that we decided to remodel the bathroom due to lead and water damage, only to have them improperly install the plumbing, potentially causing water damage. I forgot to get the certificate of insurance before starting the project, and when I asked for it after, they never responded. My insurance agent also asked for it, and they never responded. Now there's a BBB complaint, with still no resolution. I just want the insurance certificate. So if anyone is going to hire them to do anything, only let them do tiling. Hire your own plumber. And if you can, set a daily schedule in the contract.

But Sergenian's crew was absolutely fantastic, every single step of the way! (5-stars isn't enough!) Starting with Russ' consultation, he is the epitome of professionalism, always being sure to not over-promise, or just agree to everything I say to make the sale. And when Kyle and Armando came to do the work, they continued with extremely specific discussions of the technique, timeline, expectations, etc. They worked diligently, with extreme consideration for my home, my dog, and fully discussing all of the steps along the way. Out-standing! And the quality of their work is A+ to boot. In this day and age, it is incredibly difficult to find contractors who are reliable, experts, diligent, considerate, and actually deliver on what they say. You are lucky if you get two of those qualities, but Russ, Kyle and Armando delivered in full in every single category; Outstanding! (Did I mention how nice all of the office staff was as well? They were; and efficient, too!) I have had an *extremely* mixed bag of experiences dealing with contractors here in Madison, from absolutely miserable schiesters I've been tempted to take to court to the very good ones who've been great and gotten the job done. But this group of individuals was so outstandingly great, I wish they'd take up every other trade, and solve all of my remodeling needs! To be clear, I don't work for Sergenians, and I'm not related to anyone there (!) but I think when you come across such an amazing, talented team, who cares deeply, and actually does their job incredibly well (at reasonable cost, no less!), well, that deserves a minute of my time to say thanks, for a job more than well done. Turns out there are still some good people out there, just gotta find them as you wade through the opportunists and such...faith in humanity restored through flooring! ;-} (And almost forgot, but the flooring was *black* which is extremely non-standard! I'd looked and talked with several other companies, always getting a "...yeah I think we can do something like that" vibe; not what you want to hear. But Sergenians was incredibly explicit about what can and cannot be done, and they might say "minimizing expectations," but in reality, the final floor is absolutely glorious, way BEYOND what I'd even hoped for!) Ok, time to stop the ramble, and I'm gonna go enjoy my new floors! (And in the photos I'm posting, it is hard to capture the rich black, because if you go "true" to color, it looks so dark you see no detail...but to see any detail, you have to brighten up, and they don't look like that. Such are the limitations of "standard" photography; HDR photos would be ideal. The takeaway point is that IN-PERSON, the floor looks SPECTACULAR! ...and yes, black floors will show dog hair, dust, etc., but a small price for the best looking floors ever!)

One thing I really appreciated was their array of companies, fabric, colors, information on content and environmental/allergen free choices. I was lucky to have Molly assist me because I was overwhelmed, not being someone who shops for carpet often. Molly found samples closer to what I wanted than I had found. I was stuck and she was patient and helpful, never pushy. I ended up choosing a large and fabulous area rug which Sergenians have several stacks of. Jacob was also very helpful finding runner choices for me.

Outdoor Deck I've…read moreknown Abe Degnan as a personal friend and client for many years so when I had the opportunity to rebuild and expand our deck, Degnan Design-Build-Remodel was my first call! I could handle the update, sanding and sealing of the existing deck on my own, but wanted an expert to change out the railing from wood to black finished metal and replace a 4' stair with a 20' wrap around staircase. The work was completed yesterday and exceeded my expectation in every way! The lead carpenter and his carpenters were amazing, the work was completed on time and on budget, and we are receiving nothing but excellent feedback from neighbors, friends and family.

Even though it's "3 season," we can use it year-round. The wide modern fireplace they recommended heats the entire space in even very cold conditions, and the insulated floor helps maintain a warm surface once heated. It's always a wonderful experience to relax with a cup of coffee next to the warm fireplace while enjoying the expansive view. As you can tell from the pictures in the portfolio, Degnan's craftsmanship and attention to detail were top-notch. They took what we were looking for way beyond the next level, with some fantastic ideas. We initially looked to convert the existing deck space, carrying forward a typical rectangular room layout. They suggested that pulling the area inward into more of an L shape would make it more dramatic and cozier. This layout enabled some very striking design features, like the tandem windows and the exposed beam over the dining area. They also did a fantastic job creating a vaulted roof ceiling that matched the home's exterior aesthetics and made way for light to pour in on those large beautiful windows. A lot of thought went into not just style but also the functionality of the space. For example, the layout allows quick access from the kitchen to the grill, and I didn't even realize all the benefits until using the space. Notably, they had recommended a landing instead of a typical stairway, and aside from just looking better, it's a lot easier to carry trays of food with your hands full when you have that additional space. Another example is they recommended a four-pane vinyl window system that can be put into all kinds of open configurations, and it's super easy to clean. One of the features of the project we enjoy the most was a custom expansive glass folding door. It essentially gives us a glass wall that we can completely slide out of the way, creating a fully open space when we have guests. This makes the room feel like a natural continuation of the house, as opposed to an isolated space. It eliminates that awkward crowding you usually get with a more typical doorway. The fact that it slides means you do not cover the light switches with a door; they remain accessible in the room. The Degnan team was fantastic to work with, and even the owner (Abe) was highly engaged and responsive to any question or concern. *even after project completion*. Further, Degnan stands behind their work and is committed to your complete satisfaction. There was a manufacturing issue with our flooring, and Degnan diligently worked to correct it as soon as they were aware of the problem. Six months after the job was completed, Abe still personally reached out to make sure nothing new had popped up, and we were still happy. They even came out to check for shifts from season changes. Brian and the entire team set very high standards for quality, and it shows in their results. This includes high quality materials and craftsmanship, and valuable consultation with decisions. On numerous occasions, they helped steer us towards great style and other decisions that will ensure our long term satisfaction. We regularly receive compliments from friends and family about our home, and Classic deserves a lot of the credit. Communication: We had a true sense of partnership with Classic, and they did a great job keeping us updated along the way. Like many people in our situation, we were nervous and had lots of questions. Classic was responsive and consistently put our minds at ease. Cost/Budget: The process of putting together bids and cost estimates was very easy, and Classic provided accuracy and transparency throughout. The final cost was exactly what we expected, and it was less than the initial bids we had received from other builders. Schedule: Classic did a great job adhering to the planned schedule (which they shared with us along the way), and our home was completed in less than 4 months. Not only that, but we needed a place to live during construction (our previous house sold quicker than expected), and Classic provided us with a flexible arrangement at one of their rental properties. We built a Classic Custom Homes (CCH) house in the Lake Wisconsin area that was started in the fall…read moreof 2016 and finished in early 2017. We actually live in Maryland, and went back-and-forth to Wisconsin during the design and building of our home. We selected CCH after due diligence involving the opinions of local real estate agents, looking at an in-progress CCH home and asking questions of the future owners, attending the Madison area Parade of Homes, and checking out a completed spec home with Jennie (the builder's wife) in the Kilkenny Farms development just outside of Waunakee. Jennie really helped us decide on CCH, as she just seemed confident, knowledgeable, and above all, credible. The design process went well, as Brandon was both talented and easy to work with. Building a home is never stress-free, and this house was no exception. 2016 was the wettest year in Wisconsin history, and so the job site was extremely muddy. This made everything more difficult, starting with the ground and driveway being too soft for a cement truck to drive on. With the cement truck having to stay on the main road, cement for the foundation was delivered via "pump" system, which delivers cement via a series of long pipes. The "pump" system was a cost overrun, but given the operating environment, it was unavoidable. When the home was completed, it was not difficult to have the few "punch list" items corrected. Our completed house is everything we had hoped for: beautiful, well-made, and energy-efficient. We still live in Maryland, but plan to move to Wisconsin soon. We were away this past winter, and when we got to our CCH house this summer for the first time in about 8-9 months, we had a wet basement. Thus was likely due to a particularly brutal winter, with heavy snow and then a sudden thaw, and compounded by our not being here to keep snow away from the house. With our insurance company ruling that this was caused by "ground water", our claim was dismissed. However, Bryan of CCH has helped out a lot, first sending out a crew to remove wet carpeting, drywall, and trim, and then scheduling a crew for final remediation. Since our house was completed over two years ago, and we were absent for the entire winter, we are more than grateful for the assistance of CCH. Bryan can be blunt, it is true, but in my view he is also honest and helpful. We are at an age where we may never build another house, but if we do, it will be with Classic Custom Homes. Without reservation, I recommend this builder to anyone.

Well here is is Spring May of 2019 and I am still waiting.-no estimate, no call to say sorry, NOTHING!!. I wish I could rate the quality of their construction but I couldn't even get an estimate. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Glad I didn't try to get that estimate, because if it takes almost a year for an estimate, how long would the actual remodel take?!?
