I always enjoy my regular visits to the orthodontist here!…read more I'm currently midway through my Invisalign course. Setting aside the slightly high price tag for the entire course, Smile Solutions does offer a great experience for what is usually an uncomfortable process. Since I've been visiting about 1.5 years ago, I've always had top notch customer service from these guys! One minor down side is that this is a huge establishment with a large team of dentists, orthodontists, and support staff, and rather packed schedules. As such, I've dealt with numerous hygienists and dentists (thank god my orthodontist has been the same!). This is mitigated by the fact that every one of the staff members I've dealt with are highly professional and deliver knowledgeable and amazing service! The Manchester Unity building is also one of the most beautiful refurb Art Deco buildings I've seen in Melbourne and Smile Solutions does a great job preserving the authenticity of this building while providing a comfortable environment!

Smile Solutions is the largest dental practice in Australia (or so claims their website), but…read moredespite its size, I've always felt I received personal attention and the staff cared about my dental health. It's a very relaxing space set up on the first floor of the historic art deco historic Manchester Unity Building in the CBD...it's worth a visit just to see the architectural features of this building! This is one fancy office. And yes, the other Yelpers are correct.... the lobby does smell like vanilla. My dentist and hygienist were both professional and did their genuine best to reduce any pain/discomfort. I had to get one of my fillings replaced, and opted to go with a porcelain filling, which they molded on site. It was a definite state of the art experience...this was the first practice I've been to that used cerec fillings...they digital scan your teeth to determine the shape of the filling and then 5 to 10 minutes later the filling is complete and ready to be placed in your mouth....no more sending a mold out to a lab, no temporary fillings, you're in and out quickly! The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars is the price. It's very expensive though I guess that's the cost of going to a Collins Street dentist.

As soon as I walked in, the staff were attentive to my arrival and extremely friendly. Shortly after arriving, I realized I left my insurance card at home {palm to forehead moment}. This didn't phase them in the slightest though and were happy for me to come back another day to settle up. That right there spoke volumes. As I was sitting down, a family walked out from the back, all smiles, happy and laughing as they exited. I took that as a really good sign! Soon I went to the patient room where they took X-rays and all the necessities done at a first appointment. They were quick, efficient, conversational, kind and open with every action. This is something I greatly appreciate! The hygienist also took the time to thoroughly explain the numbers she spouted off at the beginning of the exam with a visual diagram and a full overview of the condition of my teeth and things to look out for. Always a plus! I was in and out of there in under 1 hour! Well done Bupa, I was one happy customer. Keep up the good work!!

If you have a huge fear of dentists, this is the place for you…read more You see they use 'the wand'. What is that you say? Well, its a painless method of pain relief. NO NEEDLES involved. Dr Olstein just waves his magic 'wand' around your sore tooth and within minutes you are NUMB! The clinic also offers sleep dentistry too. My partner was super pleased with this clinic, she had been fearing a visit to the dentist for such a long time and is now the biggest fan of Dr Olstein. He has a great bedside manner and even the dental nurses are amazing. Highly recommend this clinic.

I had been suffering with a broken tooth for a month and it had gotten to the point where something had to be done. I did some research and discovered that Dr. Olstein offeres sleep dentistry. I liked the sound of it, but after enquiring into the cost realised that it may not suite my budget. I decided to go see Dr Olstein and see what he was like. My experience at his clinic was wonderful. Right from the moment we walked in the door. The dental assistant was so lovely. She was so reassuring, gentle and professional. Dr Olstein himself was such a sweet man. He spoke to me about the possibility of keeping my busted up tooth with a root canal, but i wanted it gone. There was NO NEEDLE, he used some kind of magic called a wand. The Wand is essentially a computer-controlled dental injection. The flow rate of the local anaesthetic is controlled by a computer. This means that the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable. I honestly didn't feel a thing. Dr Olstein was so lovely. I will be going back to him for all my dental requirements. I have even recommended him and his practice to people.

Met with Dr. Rebellato for a consultation. I felt profiled. Perhaps there were certain assumptions…read moremade about me because I have some of my hair dyed green? We spent half of the appointment discussing my medications prescribed by my GP due to a chronic back issue that led to surgery. I explained I had a prolapsed disc. He asked me how it happened. He told me I was being given heavy medications. Being that he is not my GP and does not know the extent of my medical history I thought this was really not his place to say. But he was nice enough and soft spoke so I explained that none of the medication is daily use- only when needed. He then asked why I was prescribed Lyrica and whether it was just after my surgery or current which I explained was for the sciatica nerve pain. I told him after my surgery I experienced recurrent nerve pain and was give a new lyrica prescription and was sent to a specialist to get a steroid injection in my spine to help with inflammation at which point they found in the rxays why I was still having irritation on my sciatic nerve. I also explained I had since stopped taking that prescription as my pain resolved since changing to a less physically demanding job. He then asked if they had to do surgery on my entire spine or just one part. This is when I realized what a stupid question this was as each vertebrae in your spine has one disc between them and the sciatic nerve runs from the lower back down to your toes and WHY am I discussing in such great detail my back issues with a dentist who is clearly so far out of his depth he thought you'd cut open an entire spine to work on one disc and clearly does not know what a herniated disc is, what a sciatic nerve is or where it is located. I couldn't understand why I was justifying the care plan provided to me by my Specialist Physical Therapist and my GP. This line of questioning was never tied into any thing having to do with my potential treatment plan for my tooth nor if my medications would have any impact on treatment. He also made a remark about my OPG and other previous dental work. I mentioned that I have had a lot of dental work in the past and he asked me in what country it was done??? I have an accent so, I guess he was making more assumptions about me. We were not there to talk about who did my other dental work or where. The consult was about one tooth that may be in need of endo treatment. *I'll note he did NOT ask who or where the filling on this particular tooth in question was carried out so I really don't see the importance.* When you go to see a medical professional you want just that- professionalism. You also want to be as transparent as possible with your medical history so that they are well informed so they can do their best to assess you and help you. In retrospect I don't think Dr Rebellato had the right the ask me any of the above information and it was an overreach of his position as a health care practitioner to ask the kinds of things he did that were not relevant to my consult or even my teeth. I'm obviously not shy talking about my medical history but I think as a medical professional you know that people feel obligated to answer your questions so if those questions are not completely necessary or connected to the reason of your visit then you have the responsibility to ask permission before you question your patient on unrelated matters.
