He was very accommodating in assessing the situation and fitting in my dad for an emergency root canal when our primary general dentist was having challenges getting us in with a specialist within a reasonable time. Finding a dentist can be scary especially when it comes to root canals I was referred to EA by my current dentist Michael Uehara. I've now had 4 root canals done by EA. Each time I've visited the office I went to a different specialist. 2 are brothers alongside their uncle! I like to joke about being the "chair hopper" and having everyone's hands in my mouth, but honestly i just feel so comfortable in this office that I trust any judgement they make!! The last root canal i did have still has a little pain, which i find odd because never had i felt anything after a procedure. I think maybe apart of the root or nerve might still be attached, but I'm no dentist so Idk and when i went for a follow up i was given antibiotics and told that if it got too bad i might lose the tooth I still need to go and have a double look after this whole pandemic is over. There's a little friendly competition in there and they like to joke and ask who's better or who's better looking and i can finally answer and say uncle is the better half of them both! Haha his assistant was AMAZING! I'm usually super nervous to have this procedure, but she was the first one who made me feel 100% comfortable. She talked me through the process, made small talk to distract me, got to know me a little and made me feel like i was apart of their team and before i knew it my procedure was almost done. I feel terrible that I don't remember her name, i think it was Kristen but dang it that numbing medicine got to my brains! I've met her twice there too! Anywho, everyone there deserves my praise. Everyone's so friendly and caring they legit make you feel like family. I hate that they only do root canals because i know how that can make people cranky and they must deal with some crazies along the way! My experience yesterday with Dr Andrew Inaba was quite pleasant. Hard to believe, right? Dr Andrew assessed my problem, calmed my fears and performed my root canal quickly and efficiently. The numbing injections were tolerable, and I was out of the office within an hour. His tech assistant Kawohi was super; she put me at ease, hummed and sang with the upbeat background music and was genuinely caring. Yay! Even the assistants at the front office were cheerful. I am SCARED of the dentist. SO scared I usually pay about $200 for laughing gas for a cleaning. I had gone to the dental office next to Shokudo for a consultation and they referred me here. It is finals week of school and I had an appointment 2 days before graduation. At this point, I don't care. I'm in pain and I'm going to be in pain either way. So I made an appointment. I didn't catch the receptionist name, but she was amazing. I called back to ask stupid questions and she never made me feel stupid. I was told that I can call before my appointment date to see if there were openings, which I did. I got lucky and got an appointment a week early (yesterday). Still close to graduation, still in finals week, but damn. I need this root canal. The receptionist cleaned my ID and credit card before handing it back to me which was also a plus. The dental assistant (young, Asian) told me she was new, but she was extremely sweet and caring. I could tell she was a little nervous, but she did a great job! (I really hope you are reading this. You did amazing and you got this!!!!) Dr. Andrew was also great. I asked again if I could just pay whatever for laughing gas. I can't. It's okay this place only does root canals so they must be great at it. And they are. I actually fell asleep in the chair. The day after: I have a little discomfort in my jaw because it was open for a bit (less than 1 hour), but that is no fault of anyone at this clinic. It's just part of the procedure. I barely had to take any meds, maybe 3 pills of ibuprofen throughout the entire day. I would highly recommend this place if you need a root canal. read more

I have to be honest...I was super nervous about my first visit to an Endodontist..heck, I didn't even know what that meant... other than, my tooth had been bugging me for a while and my dentist referred me to Dr. Inaba. Scheduling was a breeze and the receptionist who answered the phone was warm, informative and very easy to talk to. She said I would be able to have a root canal the day I went to consult.. that to me was amazing!! YES!!! One less visit I have to make and one less day of having to take off of work! I was thrilled! Another good thing is, you can download all the registration forms on their website and complete it and bring it in on your visit. I was super nervous the day of my appointment, wondering if it would be traumatic like getting my widsom teeth extracted. I had no idea what to expect, other than friends telling me the aftermath is when it's sore. The two receptionists were wonderful and assistant, Christina, was so friendly and easy to talk to and made me feel at ease when I felt so nervous... it was like talking with an old friend. Dr. Andrew Inaba walked in and introduced himself. Young, professional, extremely knowledgeable, upbeat and super gentle with his hands... when he put the anesthesia shots in my mouth, it wasn't really painful at all... just a little pinch. I was impressed!!! And guess what? I almost even fell asleep in the chair!!! I know that sounds crazy! Dr. Andrew Inaba was wonderful in answering all my questions before and after the procedure. He and assistant would check if I was ok throughout. After it was all done, I took 2 Tylenol before I drove home. I iced my cheek for 20 minutes when I got home to help swelling.. and again, I was super shocked, that 6 hours later, it would've been time to take a 2nd dose of pain relief and numbing would be gone.. but to my surprise I had no pain and in the morning, my cheek wasn't swollen at all! WOW!!! You are able to eat once your numbing goes away. For me it took a while.. so I highly suggest to eat before you go, but don't forget to brush! The most difficult part for me was, to find the office.. lol. I'm horrible at directions. You can park at Ala Moana Shopping Center on the bottom level near the Kona St. entrance and exits. And the 2nd hard part for me was to hold my mouth open for that long. lol. I just wanted to thank Dr. Andrew Inaba and his team for a positive experience. I would highly recommend him and have already told my family and friends that if they need to get a root canal, to see him! Yes, he is young, but he is super amazing and confident in his work and super easy to talk to too! I love doctors like that.. great at what they do and have an awesome personality to go with it! Went in a couple of weeks ago for root canal work. The staff and Dr. Inaba was friendly. Overall the root canal was fine however the reason for the low rating was that compared to other places that I had root canal work done this place does not stack up. In other places where I had work done the dentists always showed me the xrays and explained what would be done. Doctor Inaba did not do that. The biggest complaint that I had here though is the cleanliness. When work started and the viewing scope was placed over my face I noticed that there were splatters on the lens from previous patients. I was disgusted but couldn't say anything since my mouth was already numb and a bite block was in place. Pointed it out to nurse later but she just brushed it off and thought it was from my procedure. Will not be going back here again. read more

Getting a root canal sucks, but dang, life is so much better when you are no longer in pain every time you eat. Dr. Andrew Inaba got me in on short notice so I could keep my trip to Japan. The injection of anesthesia was done gently. I am usually weak and sensitive with syringe but it was executed flawlessly and for the root canal work: it was fast and neat. Now at least, if ever, I need a root canal again, I would know it can be not that bad because of my good experience here. read more

Dr. Andrew Inaba was skilled, quick, and kind. He asked if I was ok throughout the process and put a reassuring hand on my shoulder during the times I needed it. The numbing of the area was done quickly and without pain. I had x-rays done at the beginning, middle and end to see that all the root canal had been addressed successfully. The technician was friendly and asked if I needed to go to the restroom before the start of the procedure. In this COVID-19 time, I felt safe as much of the pre-booking questionnaires and assessment were done online prior to the visit. On the day of the visit, I had my temperature checked before I entered and I rinsed my mouth with a hydrogen peroxide mixture before I was examined. This was only the second root canal I've had and I hope not to have any more. But if I ever do need a root canal, I'd go back to Dr. Andrew Inaba definitely. read more

Beware, they will charge you even if they don't provide you with any worthwhile service! I specifically went to this provider because I wanted a root canal that day. My dentist set up the appointment for me to get a root canal. When I visited the office they provided me an estimate for the out of pocket cost (the portion not covered by my insurer) for a root canal. So, I'm expecting a root canal. BUT when I saw the doctor, he told me he wouldn't have time to complete one that day. He could start it but not finish it! I had driven across the island for this appointment and didn't want a half of a root canal and have to return. The doctor offered me a prescription for antibiotics (which I also didn't want because I'm breastfeeding). The office charged me $135 for this "consultation" (doctor's time +x-ray), which I would have never wasted my time with if they had ever mentioned that they wouldn't be able to provide me with the actual service I needed completed. To make matters worse, my insurance would have covered most of this fee, but they didn't submit the claim soon enough. The next day, I went to a different doctor. They were awesome and called before the appointment, set up all expectations for the services to be provided and out of pocket cost, the office was clean, and I felt well taken care of. A very different experience than this provider. read more

After seeing Dr. Inaba for an opinion on my abscessed root canal, we decided to try to save the tooth by having him go in and redo the root canal. Unfortunately, my tooth could not be fixed and it had to be pulled. Dr. Inaba is a very pleasant doctor who knows what he is doing. I know he felt bad that he couldn't save my tooth, but these things happen and he didn't charge me for the root canal. This is a doctor that cares about his clients. read more
