CONS - Jim's chain fell off twice, with a nice guy helping to fix it the first time. After the second time, he used the electric feature to bring the bike back to the barn. +/- - Erin scored a discount on our bikes and Jim's issue was credited. However, the credit card entries took awhile to sort themselves out. PROS - Jim's issue aside, our bikes were top quality, easy to use, and fun to ride. - Bee's Knees staff were very helpful and responsive to our beginner questions and the above bike chain issue. - Stunning scenery and well marked bike paths. - Vancouver takes their bikes very seriously including the practice that traffic laws apply to all. BOTTOM LINE - I'd happily use Bee's Knees again for a bike rental.

Can return it anytime before their closing hours. Free helmets, bike locks, and baskets if needed. Staff are friendly and let you try different bikes to find the right fit. Bikes are well maintained, comfortable, and ride smoothly. We've rented from them multiple times and keep coming back. If you're renting a bike in the area, I'd recommend these guys over the shops right at the entrance--better prices and great service!

Hope got a regular cruiser and I got one of their e-bikes to try out. Both bikes seemed practically new and rode well. I'd never ridden an e-bike before, but I enjoyed the J725 bike I was on. I think it had a 48v battery with a 500w motor and a cadence sensor. It's also really heavy but I only noticed that when I tried to pick it up. The e-bike was fun but totally unnecessary for Stanley Park- there was one steep but really short hill and a longer (but not really long) incline. I probably had the pedaling assist on for less than 15 minutes total during our three hour ride (most of which was spent stopped at various scenic stops, not riding), and perhaps 5 minutes of that was where it was really useful. It's a great way to try out the e-bike experience though, at least for one with that kind of sensor. Service at checkin and checkout was quick and helpful. The person showing me the e-bike seemed new though, he did a good job of showing me the e-bike features but didn't know whether it had a cadence or torque sensor. He also forgot to show me how to work the shifters, which turned out to be the trickiest part of the bike, I had to ask after I went up and down the alley next to the shop and couldn't figure it out. Cost seemed pretty reasonable once you factor in the included helmet and other accessories.

As with most rental places, you will need to leave some form of identification with them as a security deposit. Miguel also had the smart idea of snapping a photo of the lock combination. After you select a bike selecting and helmet fitting, you are on your way. Three hours with bike, a lock, and helmet totaled around $25 CAD. The bike itself was old, but well-maintained and comfortable for the designated routes. Business hours go till 10pm, but they also have the option of dropping off the bike after hours elsewhere if need be. Solid and convenient spot to stop by for your ride.

Misleading Range Claims The bike was advertised with a 50-100km range, but from the very first ride, it only ever displayed a maximum range of 48km on a full charge. Even after a warranty battery replacement, it never exceeded 70km, still falling well below advertised claims. I fully understand that terrain, assist mode, and weather can affect range, but when a bike is never capable of reaching its advertised maximum under any conditions, that's a problem. Poor Customer Service & Deflection When I reached out to the shop, I was initially met with condescending explanations about how e-bike range works--insinuating that I simply didn't understand power assist mechanics. I had to push repeatedly before they finally agreed to test the bike. Even after a battery replacement, the issue persisted, and I was given even more excuses about speed regulations and riding habits instead of a real solution. No Accountability & Stalling Refunds When I asked about a return, I was told it might be possible if the bike was in like-new condition--only to have the shop later stall the process by requesting an odometer reading that was never recorded at the time of purchase. This felt like a deliberate attempt to push the bike beyond return eligibility rather than a genuine effort to help. Final Dismissal - "Sell It Yourself" After months of back and forth, I was finally told that nothing more could be done, and that I should just sell the bike myself on Facebook Marketplace.

We saw so many beautiful sights in and around Stanley Park, including an eagle's nest! They even provided ponchos just in case the Vancouver weather decided not to cooperate. One thing to know: the tour moves at a pretty good pace. It didn't bother us at all, but slower riders may find themselves bringing up the rear. Great way to see Stanley Park. Our tour guide Nick is a nice person, but he just rode so fast and he left me so far behind. The tour pace was so fast that it forced people to run traffic lights and it's very unsafe for first timers in the city. We asked for partial refund and was denied by the manager Katie who obnoxiously by email all our negative experiences. This forced me to write this review here. This bike tour was the most miserable part of our first time visit to the otherwise very beautiful city. --- The bike rented for me was difficult to ride. Somehow the pedals kept jamming a few times when I started to ride. The gear was ok and I was pretty sure I switched gears correctly when biking, but sometimes I had to paddle real hard. I do bike around home so this certainly feels very awkward today. I paid $100 to install a back brake and switch my front brake lever. They botched the lever part. When I asked them to fix it, they wanted another $25. Mario, the owner, stormed out yelling. His attitude screamed little-man syndrome. Aggressive, condescending, and unprofessional. I paid to escape the chaos. If you value respect and competence, avoid this place at all costs. I wish I could have had a good experience as the Taller gentleman truly showed real professionalism and courtesy which would have saved everything. Poor management
