I was the groomer of this dog in the review and have been a professional groomer for over 20 years. This customer failed to state that she had brought the dog multiple times to us leaving happy with the grooming. She was so happy that she started to bring her other short coated dog for a bath and nails along with her pom. This customer also failed to report that she would come every 6-8 weeks and did no brushing in between and the grooming in question--she hadn't been in to see us for over 4 months. Because she was out of town, she had "another facility" groom the dog. It was obvious that the other facility bathed the dog and crate dried it without brushing. This dog's coat was so matted and packed down, beyond what was "normal" matting in between groomings. This pom was also a rescue and an older dog. Brushing this dog out was NOT fair to the dog and impossible in one day. This customer was called and told that the dog was matted and it wasn't fair to brush this dog out--mind you, the dog doesn't like to get brushed. The customer was GIVEN A CHOICE--cut the dog down or come pick her up--this was before any work was done. The customer CHOSE to have the dog cut down and I was clear on how short it would have to be. There were no nicks on the dog. The bald spots were actually white spot areas that the owner would have never seen on a dog with full coat. This was a dark coated dog. I was with the owner of the salon and the client when she returned asking about the white spots--she never asked for a refund, just stormed out. We do the best we can with what we are given. We don't like to cut down dogs, but when it comes down to it, you must brush and care for your dog in between groomings. We can't perform miracles. We are only concerned with the best interest and comfort of the dog. The Salon owners go above and beyond caring for their clients dogs while at the salon. I'm proud to work for such people. I have been a professional groomer and have known and worked for these owners for 20 + years. These owners have been in business longer than most grooming salons in Buck County or Montgomery and the reason is that they are kind and caring. read more
