Use of an e-collar is minimal but recommended. Our Penny was transformed into a different dog. Attentive, willing to please, and obedient. No magic here. Just positive repetition and a knowledgeable staff (shout out to Michael and Gabby). Key is to enforce these methods at home consistently. She walks on the leash without pulling, will come from across the yard when her name is called, and now listens to commands such as "leave it" and "off". It's a commitment, but it is worth every "penny" (pun intended). Highly recommended.

We cannot say enough positive things about our experience with BPF!…read more Before coming here, we had previously worked with another trainer and took group classes, but we just could not seem to get some basic manners down. When we started with BPF we could barely walk our 1 y/o Aussiedor Pepper. She would pull us almost to the point of injury, while lunging and barking at everything she saw. We could not walk within 40ft of another dog, animal, or bicyclist or she would become extremely reactive as well. I would be in tears most days after our short walks. Initially, she was also not very friendly towards any other dogs. After speaking with Michael, we decided to sign Pepper up for the Excellent Dog Program for 8 weeks of private lessons. The first 6 lessons were in our home and neighborhood. We were shown different techniques, commands, and given training tools to make walks more enjoyable & relaxed for both Pepper and our family. We practiced our walking commands every day, starting with no distractions, and gradually working our way up. We noticed a difference right from week 1! Our final 2 lessons we were invited up to the beautiful BPF facility for Pepper to learn how to properly socialize with other dogs. She met 4 other dogs while Michael showed us things that should be corrected and body language to pay attention to when dogs our playing. Michael has such great knowledge and is very easy to talk to! We loved working with him. The skill-set & knowledge the Best Paw Forward team has provided us was phenomenal. We are now able to take Pepper on mile plus walks everyday, where we can pass whoever or whatever on the same sidewalk with never more than a minor tug of excitement. We have also been able to take her on some of our favorite local hiking trails! She has also now successfully been introduced to 4-5 new dogs in the neighborhood and will even play bow with a few of them. We could not be happier. We absolutely recommend this training team to anyone that listens! We cannot wait to work with them again in the near future when we bring home puppy #2.

I was told that my position change was temporary, but months later I was informed that the transition I had been expecting was no longer happening. I was never clearly informed of that change and only found out after asking for an update myself. I was also told that I was approved to work an 8:30-4:30 schedule moving forward. This schedule adjustment was discussed due to previous attendance write-ups related to delays with the city bus. My understanding was that this change would help ensure I could consistently arrive on time and avoid any further attendance-related disciplinary action. Then, without warning, I received an email informing me that my employment was being terminated. I was not given a clear explanation for the decision, which left me confused and frustrated. In my experience, there was a lack of transparency and consistent communication regarding decisions that affected my employment. I often felt unclear about expectations and changes to my role. Thankfully, I already had another job lined up. However, my experience left me disappointed and reinforced my concerns about how employees are communicated with and managed

Piccone, the daughter of the original veterinarian you see rated here with the great reviews, Marc Piccone. The practice manager is her mother Joy Lee, the ex-wife of Marc Piccone. Tori gets the unwarranted benefit of her father's great reviews. Our first (and last) appointment here, new in town, my large sweet CCPDT ( Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers®) trained rescue dog was due for Rabies and Bordetella. They didn't know what a "happy visit" was, that should have been my first clue. No chance to familiarize the dog before the appointment. I prepared him to wear a muzzle with peanut butter. It was a mess getting in to the small waiting room, dogs outside barking, people standing for a long time at the desk with their dog, and the open door to the adjacent windowless kennel area. (pic) Only one other client in the room with her new rescue puppy. After a wait about half an hour with my dog wearing the muzzle and me replenishing the peanut butter. I was uncomfortable but my dog was OK. We hustled into the exam room no one introduced themselves, there was no discussion, they didn't have his records ready. Meghan Andrews scolded me for consoling my dog when he tried to remove the muzzle a bit, "Don't reward him for bad behavior!" I have been to several veterinarians with this big dog, working together with them. Its always a team effort for everyone's comfort and safety. My dog is trained for veterinary visits, and the muzzle. I did as I was told. "Tori" said he was a specific breed. "Yes, that is what we originally thought, but I had his DNA tested and he's a mix, none of that specific breed." She repeated, "It says on his record he is this breed!" But... ok. Tori - said we could do more shots today. I asked if that was advisable (its not) she said it was. I said let's just do the two and see how it goes, it may be too much today. The words were not out of my mouth she was already on the 3rd shot and my dog growled. That stopped the fourth shot- Good Dog! They had already been brusque and I was increasingly uncomfortable, I just wanted to get my dog and get out of there when they launched into ordering me to have my dog euthanized. They said he was going to kill me, that most vets won't do "behavioral euthanization" but she will. They hadn't done an exam, hadn't looked in his ears, hadn't spoken to me except to scold and contradict me, they weren't interested in his training. Joy came in and shouted to Tori across the room they have 2 more dogs waiting to be euthanized and something else I didn't hear because I was so horrified they were shouting about euthanizing dogs. Were those the dogs I heard barking outside? Every vet I have ever visited has had consideration for the people putting their beloved animals down. Back to me and my dog needing to die. Has he ever growled at me? Well yes, once. I forget the term they kept using, something like "aggressive dangerous" dog I was just appalled. They said, "we can see you are afraid of him". I said, "I'm afraid of you". This went on for at least 10 minutes, as if they were going to get me to put him down immediately. He is 3 years old. I asked if they recommended a trainer. She said she doesn't have any trainers who would take such an "aggressive dangerous" dog, then wrote down two names on a piece of paper without contact info and did not give it to me. I asked for the rabies tag and certification, they said I had to go back to the desk to get it but that the dog can't go back to the desk so I should put him in the car to wait. (Isn't that illegal?) Joy took my credit card to the desk. I waited with my dog in this terrible situation as they continued to pressure me to put my dog down. They said I should have him in a crate in the car at all times in case I have an accident and the emergency people shouldn't have to deal with a dog that could bite them. Tori says she has her dogs in a crate in her car because they are "bite trained". This means she trained her dogs to attack. Finally Joy comes back with my card but no receipt no rabies tag or certificate. If I don't go leave my dog in my car and come back in and stand around her desk with these poor barking dogs that are going to be put down and wait for her to organize my dog's rabies tag and certificate and what immunizations she gave him I'll have to come back another day to get them. I chose to leave with my dog. This vet and her staff are woefully behind the times and need to get Fear Free certified. Their correct web site is: https://www.amblervet.com/ Best advice, don't go there at all. Katie is encouraging, patient, and her willingness to problem-solve sets her apart from the others. I blew out my knee just before we began our training. It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."
